Thanks to Panda and Pete for wanting the orchestra back at The Grand Floridian! A touch of class so many of us loved but don’t say anything about because we don’t like to complain..
💯
I agree with you! We’ve never stayed at GF but every trip I’d make a dinner reservation at Narcoossees or Citricos and we’d go early to sit in the lobby, go in the gift shop then Mizner’s Lounge for cocktails and orchestra. They took that tradition away.
The last time we stayed at CBR, after the kids were settle in for the night, my wife and I looped the Skyliner with a bottle of wine. Was a great and very memorable experience.
I love both the Skyliner and the Monorail. My biggest issue is that there is no way to go between the 2 of them without an Epcot reservation for the day.
Not true. Go after 2;00 AND YOU CAN ENTER ePCOT THEN.
Savanah view for us...DVC members since 2005 at SSR....love the nature views of the savannah. A special place for our family!!!!!
This was awesome! Great show! Please do more!! On a side note, we tried Steakhouse 71 because of your recommendations. My former student, Trevor, is the manager!! Thank you for the recommendation! It was wonderful to see him again!
Skyliner all the way. We like to take a ride break at Epcot. I grab a cappuccino in France, relax in my gondola with amazing views, then I'm recharged when we get back.
These are all tough, but there are clear winners in each:
1. Riveria Resort. The food and service are far superior for the same number of points.
2. Monorail. More access to Deluxe resorts, the lines are shorter, and it does better in crummy weather. Plus, it’s more unique than the Skyliner Gondolas.
3. Enchanted Rose. Both have great food, service and scenic views, but Enchanted Rose has far superior drinks. (And Paul knows about those truffle fries!)
4. Shula’s Steak House. No contest. The food is flawless.
5. Savanna View at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Waking up next to a populated, active animal habitat is truly special. And it’s the best overall hotel of the three choices.
Always the highlight of my Monday morning!!! Thanks all!
I like Riviera, it’s beautiful but my thought was exactly Paul’s, The Grand Floridian has my heart. It’s our first home and something about it for me, screams Disney. I’m assuming because I would stare dreamy eyed at it from MK when I was younger. Plus the dining is outstanding for one resort and a monorail ride to other great dining. But I am with Pete on Flying Fish, best restaurant on property
The line for the skyline after fireworks is crazy. Also during storms, the skyline is closed and you are left to find your own way home.
Busses run if the Skyliner is closed. It took us 16 minutes to get back to Riviera after fireworks.
The lines for AoA and Pop were pretty hideous after Harmonious, but we got back to CBR faster than a bus would have been.
And they activated buses at Epcot all the times a late afternoon/early evening deluge started. Only annoyance was having to go to the front of Epcot - we were there for F&W.
Watching your videos has been so helpful. Thank you all so much!
I love when you guys do This or That! So fun to hear your thoughts and reasons.
Loved this ep! Love the this or that format. With everyone's personal opinion, it really lets all of us narrow down what we're looking for!
I agree with Panda, the closer I am to Bay Lake, the happier my happy place is. So I prefer the lake view.
We were stuck on the Skyliner at night as it was swinging in the wind over the lake. The worst part was seeing the car in front of us swing so you know how bad you are swinging
Loved this show!
The skyliner is like a flying sauna. 😮💨
"The correct answer is Riviera." - Spot on!! Love that resort :)
So struggle with the view option. I LOVE seeing the castle when Im going, and the fact of not seeing it every night when staying at one of those resorts. Sitting on a balcony and seeing the trees and animals is just so special. Then breaking that up and seeing the magic of MK...OH MAN!!
Thanks for a great show! Some tough choices!
* Love the Skyliner
^ Le Cellier
* Savannah View
It's a freaking savannah!
I agree with you Amy, I find January and early February to be cold. I was sitting at Three Bridges in early February and I was freezing. But still happy to be there.
I second the Shula's pick. Took my dad there for his 70's b-day. This was knowing that Shula's is A-MAZING! We have been to the one in Chicago a few times. Outstanding! Shula's passion for the perfect steak is obvious.
Correct Answers:
Grand Floridian
Monorail
Geyser point
Yachtsman Steakhouse
Bonus: I agree happily ever after over enchantment 😢
Bay Lake Tower
GF all day.. Riveria is a great building built on the back of a Moderate Resort and it sticks out because its not even filled out with vegetation yet.
My husband and I had an awesome dinner at Yachtsman recently. The sides were phenomenal! We also love Flying Fish!!!
Hot take! I love the Savanah view. It's calming and relaxing and I don't get that urge to keep going and going and going
Grand floridian for us. The RIV is nice but you can't walk to a park like you can with the Grand Floridian. There's a charm being able to walk to magic Kingdom from your home.
Yes geyser point had the heaters on when we were there last May on a rainy cool night
One of the most informative episodes. Nice job all. Panda - the well-done filet….🤔
100% correct Pete, Resale restrictions are horrible!!!
Would love a Shula's review! We went to Yachtsmans in Dec 2021 - after remembering it as our favorite steak on property. We were underwhelmed when comparing it to steakhouses from around where we live. Adding Shula's to the list for next time!
Riviera all day. The buses are slow at GF and the monorail is too crowded with people from the ticket center that it becomes difficult to get a seat and we had to wait for multiple monorails (3) on our way back from MK
BLT theme park view is basically a parking lot view. GF has a much, much better theme park view, with a lake in the foreground of the castle rather than a concrete jungle.
We just left our first garden view room at BWV. seeing both sets of fireworks was incredible and probably even more so because we didn’t expect it.
Totally agree with Pete on Shula's!!!
Panda, you are my people. Theme park view all day. It is also my happy 😊 place.
Great information, but the audio was brutal on this video. I spent the entire video turning it up and down.
Grand Floridian, Monorail, Geyser Point, Shula’s, BLT Theme Park View.
They do clear everyone off of the skyliner if a storm is approaching.
Riviera over Grand Floridian. Compact resort, easy access to all the amenities, and the nicest rooms on property. But why pick? We do split stays at both
Absolutely I am right with you I just stayed at Bay-lake Tower 2 months ago theme Park view and the parking lot and traffic just ruins the whole experience for me.
Pete, after hearing the steakhouse discussion. I would love to see you review Bull & Bear @ Waldorf Astoria in Bonnet Creek area.
Great show guys! Paul, I am also a professional barber/stylist and am going to turn you on to styling powder. It's a dry product that works wonders on mens hair. I think you'll love the result and make your hair style look even better! Just apply it sparingly on dry hair.
Im intrigued! I've always battled with my forehead being extremely oily and not just because of hair products. Been trying to do whatever I can to battle this and also been toying with my hair style a bit.
@@paulkriegerkeeping the hair off the forehead can help a bit and limiting product as well. If your sides pop out a bit you can use a little pomade but would only use styling powder on top.🤙
Riviera. On the skyway line and quick access to ePcot.
Wonder if Barry is still at Yachstman. We had him as server a few times. Just great service.
Riveria is a great resort no doubt, but the buy in costs are extremely high compared to other DVC properties. The issue of the skyliner is the hit or miss reliability- it's great, but on any day with high winds, rain- they are taken out of service. Monorails are fast, but they need major updating so they don't clutter commuters during high volume days.
Really enjoyed the show. Sometimes I have a hard time hearing what Panda is saying. Speaks very Softly.
I've commented on that before. Certainly not a typical Italian.
Just got back from GF.DVC long time member.2 BR villa.Miss it already. Will try Riveria and get back to you.😁Bay Lake Tower all the way but we like the Bay view since you can watch the fireworks from the bridge or Contemporary area.🎆
Yachtsman was the worst meal and service we have ever had at Disney. Just went in June. So disappointed.
Steakhouse chat has me.. They are all good and have their peaks and perks. Le Celier - its in a freaking theme park and has super good steaks and sides. Yachtsman is a classic resort restaurant and has great "aged" steaks. Shulas is a chain and a very good one.. but its decor is old stuffy steakhouse
Paul referenced the truffle fries at Enchanted Rose... how do they compare to the ones at Ale & Compass?
Umm Savannah view...the best
The Riviera was built on the cheap. It’s a basic tower hotel with a thin veneer of decoration that is builder basic quality. Zero appeal.
Our 10 year wedding anniversary is coming up in February 2023. We're thinking of making it a family trip and going to Aulani in March. What room would you recommend is the pool gardens View have a view of the ocean somewhat or should we just book The Ocean View?
2.) We stay at Disney 3x a year. He always book a DVC room and pay in advance. This is been a disagreement between my husband and I because I keep telling him I think we need to be DVC so that way we get more value for our dollar. How do I sell him on it? And would purchasing a resale be the best option to start?
Like this and that. I would pick BLT theme park view as we never have had that view. We did stay in a 1 bedroom at BLT and it's our least favorite resort. Otherwise it's AK, which is no secret as we own there because our whole family likes the animals.
Buy them both!!!! :)
I miss the days when we could ride in the front of the monorail!!!
I always laugh at the whole thunderstorm/lightning thing. This company has similar systems running through typhoons if I am not mistaken. Hopeful someday they start running it through more weather.
Pete - what makes Flying Fish the best restaurant on property? Looking at the menus, the 2 steaks at Flying Fish are significantly less expensive than at Shula's; for those would you still recommend FF?
Another good episode and I’m sorry to complain but somebody needs to mute their mic when not speaking because I was distracted by the heavy breathing in the background.
I would say that we prefer the monorail over the skyliner only for the weather factor. Both have amazing views of the property that would only be better in a helicopter. I’m not keen on heights myself, but when it’s enclosed, I’m more comfortable kind of like in a plane. We’ve never been to Shula’s, maybe it needs to be on our list. Never been to the Rivera Resort, so can’t comment there either. We have stayed at BLT, DBV, and AKL. The best memories are at DBV, the other two have great views as well. Have to go with the memories, but I can possibly be swayed by another visit to BLT. We have points that need to be used, so maybe a booking is in order.😁
Boardwalk view all day(and night)
Marisa hates animals? 🙂& Amy wants HEA back! Same Amy. Same
I’d never ride the monorail at VGF, I’d always walk. The monorail is way too slow and the slowest loading/ unloading transport known to man (save for a bus with 3 electric scooters on it).
The flying fish has great coffee I buy the Jofferys flying fish coffee for the home in the morning
Is it just me, or do I hear an Iphone vibrating around 14:50?
I would pick VGF over RIV. Even though the monorail smells like dirty diapers, I would choose it over Skyliner. It’s not fun blowing in the wind in a gondola and sometimes stopping for 10-15 min in 95F
It’s not the monorail that smells like dirty diapers, it is likely your soiled Depends. 😆
I've only been to Riviera for a brief walk outside tour of Riviera but I'll still go w The Grand Floridian. Location and love the feeling. ❤️ 🏰
Flying 🐠🐠🐠🐠🐠🐠🐠🐠🐠
Grand Floridian all day every day over Riveria. We own both and yea… I wish every day I had more VGF points.
Dining options, fireworks, option to walk, monorail, boat rentals. It’s just like no other.
And the monorail IS Disney and runs in inclement weather more so than the skyliner. Plus we love AC. 😂
Well last May we could get in the monorail seat going to MK and at park closing we waited for 3 and then sro. All the people from the ticket center had 75% of the space
Yachats man steak house was the worst meal i have ever had a disney, a couple months ago. Service was bad that night. Asked 3 times to get steak knives in a steak house, not acceptable. They did have good wines. We will not be going back there.
That
Shula's much better, , and I would put yachtsman last, the kitchen messed up 3 orders out of 8 of us.
Big mistake removing Grand Floridian Orchestra…lobby feels so empty and cold.
Would never be Enchanted Blows for us. Team Mizner’s Lounge!!
💯
Obviously GF is the best 😂. Location, Location, Location… the 3 Ls of real estate.
Pete --- you are WRONG! The correct answer is Grand Floridian. It is more attractive, there is more diversity in the rooms. The original studios are roomy and well appointed. And the theming is not that "European" at Riviera. Having spent our honeymoon on Cape d'Antibes, the theming doesn't come close. Grand Floridian captures the Del Coronado perfectly. Having said that, There really is not a wrong answer. Both resorts are top notch.
Sorry, if you like your filet butterflied and well done - I don’t think you should rate steakhouses
I hope Pete realizes that the Monorail stops just like the Skyliner during a storm 💯💯💯 There is ZERO safety difference 😂😂😂😂
A filet mignon…butterflied…well done?! Why don’t you eat a leather flip flop and save yourself the price of the steak
Primo piatto is absolutely garbage, WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT ???
