External Focus Breathing

  • This is a form of deep breathing that focuses on an external visual cue such as our own hands or a pillow when we breath. This can be done with one hand on our heart and one hand on our belly to watch as our hand moves upwards to our head when we inhale and then move downwards when we exhale. Try this breathing technique for 3 breaths to help to regulate our nervous system when we are feeling stressed or anxious.
