- It's been a minute since we did a free motion quilting tutorial on a home sewing machine. But we just did a MAJOR restock on all of our Full Line Stencil free motion quilting supplies, so we thought now was the perfect time!
Today we are working with the new I Love It! stencil which has a really cute heart meander pattern. It would be so cute for a Valentine's Day quilt, or just a quilt for someone you love.
I cover how to use the stencil and pounce pad to transfer the markings to your quilt top. How to break the meander down into manageable pieces, where to place your hands and match up the stencil so you can have a seamless all over heart quilting design.
You are going to see me quilt a pass in real time from the same angle I see. I hope that really helps you realize that I really take my time, break it up into manageable bits and don't stress about being off of the lines, because the lines are going away.
I want these videos to inspire you to try something new and give free motion quilting a go on your home sewing machine. It's super fun, and will allow you to finish more quilts!

Such a beautiful quilting design! Thanks for posting!
This is going to be my next step for sure. Using stencils. I've been practicing on placemats just doing wiggle lines. I've been working on my sewing speed and feeding fabric through. It's hard. But practice, practice. Thanks for another great tutorial.
This was a GREAT tutorial! Thank you so much for doing this for us! I learned a lot... and will watch the others you mentioned.
Love it!! Going to have to try.
It’s really pretty
ordered pounce pads and stencil ... can't wait to try it!
Need to try this as want to do something like this, thanks for showing it.
It seems the links aren't working... Love, Love, Love all your videos!!!
Thank you for these tutorials! I just bought several of these stencils. Do you recommend just stenciling one whole row at a time? Or could you stencil the whole quilt and use hairspray to keep the chalk from wearing off?
We use one stencil panel at a time rather than a whole row so the chalk doesn't rub off. We also don't use hairspray on it but that's a personal choice.

I don't like to wash my quilts after i finish making them. I guess you do have to wash the quilt to get the powder out. I have allergies. How else might you remove the power?? Thank you for a very informative tutorial. I love the heart design
Most of it shakes off as you quilt over it. Otherwise you can either brush it off with your hand or iron it off.
Very helpful video. I'm going to try it. Would you start on the edge of a big quilt and go across, or start in the middle?
Good question. I would like to know too.
Edge to edge down the middle of a quilt
@QuiltAddictsAnonymous so are you saying start in the center on the edge and go down to the opposite edge and work your way to the outer edges, row by row??
I used a crayola washable marker on my last quilt would it be easy to stencil with it or is it chalk only?
I would never use anything that isn’t meant for fabric.
@@QuiltAddictsAnonymous ok 😊 thank you
What stitch length are you using?
There is no stitch length, you control the length of the stitched by how fast you are moving the machine and quilt.0
Can you advise powder or chalk?
It is a chalk powder
I guess I was just not clear on your site what to buy.
@@Jerzidi9 you need a stencil and pounce pad, they come in three colors and include a bag of chalk powder. There are links in the video description.
What presser foot are you using?
Looks like a darning presser foot.
You need a free motion or darning foot. Ask your machine manufacturer which is best for your model
I think the next audio is more clear
No audio? ??
There is audio, adjust your settings
@@QuiltAddictsAnonymous I went back 30 min later and there was audio at that time. :)
