Really? I think the presenter Sarah Beeny is worse, she is passive aggressive rude to so many people, she tears people down constantly, but then laughs to soften the blow of her words. And, nobody tell me not to watch if I don’t like her that much, I only watch cos I’m a renovator by trade and it interests me. But I can’t abide that woman.
I just giggle at people complaining about "space" when they are a family of 4 in a 3 bedroom home... We raised 8 boys in a 3 bedroom, 1 bath. I won't say it wasn't crowded, but we did it, and even now, with the youngest now 23, they are all best friends, still come home at least 3 times a week, and we don't regret a thing. People have forgotten what is important. In all honesty, I really would have loved a couple of extra bathrooms, even an outhouse would have been great...lol
That definitely depends on the personality types of your family :) some people just aren’t like your family, they appreciate their space and time apart from other and there isn’t anything wrong with that :)
@@7ofthem As you mention, they say as much but I think the point is that some people seem to think it's impossible to make do with less space than what would be ideal. I'm guessing they just wanted to give a nice example of how much more important the family in the space is (and how they cope with it together) than the space itself. 😊
LOVELY family no 1. So sorry about Steven. Hope all goes well for them!!! STUNNING NEW HOME!!! nO 2: Sweet dreamy Vicky is like my daughter..... ! HELP!!! Thank heavens for her practical mom!
I don't understand why the New England style house has an all gravel front yard. That really takes away from the New England feel. How many cars do they need to park?
ugh the 70s house was ruined..! It had it's own charm, now it looks like a cheap, new build. Shame those hex tiles are now in landfill somewhere. Meanwhile Vicky had me on edge! She had to grow up really, 4 years delay over the fate of an old wall is unacceptable!
I was thinking the same! I bet the older cabinets were solid wood and the new ones are fiber board! The couple didn’t seem to like recycled cabinets. I’ve seen some great ones on a Kirstie Alsop show.
It's their car park. They have a lot of rain in England, parking as close as possible to the house is common. In older times, there would not have been manicured lawns then, either.
@@b_uppy it seems like they could’ve had a nice garden, since how much space does the car really take up? I’m guessing it’s unfinished, since that lighthouse financial nightmare was also unfinished
Those gravel gardens are becoming more and more popular as it's less taking after..but in my opinion it like awful. They could at least have a small garden in the corner. I am also worried about the wildlife with more and more gravel gardens
I would have wanted to see the finished windmill. That would be an awesome restoration project. Vicky needs to get her head wrapped around that project rather than focusing on her fairytale fantasies. Thank goodness for her mom for spearheading the project. The couple made really practical decisions. I salute them for making their current home work & sticking almost to their budget by making wise compromises.
The couple made a wonderful looking home. The gent seemed so calm considering he was made redundant during the process. Once they plant some nice shrubs it will look great, its very stark at the time of filming but feel sure it looks fabulous now. Great show as always
It's a shame the couple with the house didn't use more weatherboard on the front. I think it would have looked much nicer than the render. Love the idea of living in a windmill, but so impractical. Ok I guess whilst young. I really have a problem with no loo on the ground floor, seems to happen quite a lot in the UK.
@@peterrabbitn787 Critters are less likely to get ran over there, are they. The surface is permeable, too, and lower environmental impact than concrete. That said, that much concrete*or* gravel is visually ugly...
Ruined a perfectly nice quality 70s home. The tiling, brick, and slender white porch were features that needed embracing just like a stained glass window in a victorian house. In the 70s people tried to hide and remove these features in old houses in the name of modernization. We recently stripped off some plywood that was hiding beautiful bay window detailing in our Edwardian Glasgow tenement. This house is representative of the same attitude 50 years later whereby original features are removed and hidden because they are not fashionable. Some day everyone will appreciate modernist homes and features as they do victorian features. Some day this house might even be "restored" to how it originally was before someone in the 2000s ruined it.
Why are the comments under these videos always so negatives ? Like you guys know everything better than anyone. Always shitting on people you don't even know. Why? Old trees are greatly undervalued. Wish we had something similar in the United States. Walk down a street with established trees, and compare it to a new subdivision. Major difference.
@@serenakoleno9338 Old trees are just as valued in the US, but wishing for rigidity *is* idiocy. Rather mature trees can be moved/ purchased to give new builds a more established look. Vicky needs to place solar blades on the windmill to give the look of the windmill’s history while providing off-grid energy.
Cindi Copeland, what a brilliant idea. Hope she sees your comment.
I love the idea of turning the windmill into a home but Vicky makes me want to tear my hair out!
I agree!!! not to mention that her eyes are creepy as hell and she doesn't really look at people in the eye...hope she gets over that

I just bought a 1940s house im going to renovate im so excited😆
Best of luck. Be smart in choosing the cladding/rendering
I’d call it a potential financial nightmare
They turn an adorable 70s house into a plastic macmansion
I love watching British Tv, everyone's face looks so real instead of plastic
Their current house is worth 600k? AND they have 180k to spend? Jesus I wish I had that kind of money.
They have saved up for 10 years so....
And maybe another 10 years of mortgage
Oh Vicky, Vicky, Vicky...
Love Beeny but whoever does her wardrobe leaves much to be desired.🙄

Yes!!! Praying they revisit it
Maybe if we wait until 2035 😂
You can find photos of it online. Search for the Crosby Windmill.

Vicky is so deluded 😂😂
She isn’t she managed to do it and it’s gorgeous it took 6 years
They proper dumbed her down 🤣 even though she's renovated 8 flats👌🤣
Is it wrong that I love the octagonal tiles?
no, but they aren't octagonal (eight-sided), they're hexagonal (six-sided)
no! you can buy them now.
Thank goodness for mom Vicky
AMEN
Thank God for Vicki herself 😍😍
Wow. VIcky dreams of a whole wall of glass doors - didn't even have the sense to put some plastic over those empty windows to keep the rain out.
The kitchen cabinets look like the same design, just sage green. They could have repainted and put new countertop on.
I was thinking the same! I bet the older cabinets were solid wood and the new ones are fiber board! The couple didn’t seem to like recycled cabinets. I’ve seen some great ones on a Kirstie Alsop show.
Wow, they stripped all the character from the outside of that house, it just looks cookie cutter and boring.
Vicky is kind of a flake. Luckily she had momma there to knock some sense into her. I wonder if she ever finished.
Looks like she sold it in 2014 and it's now a holiday rental.
I think the bland front- and backyard don't do the house justice.
terrible, looks like a desert
They look like the couple in the movie "Little Stwerd" and they have a mouse too!
They made their whole garden gravel? Is that temporary? It’s awful and doesn’t look New England.

Stupid council rules
Save the tree 🌲
No onus on council when the tree falls and kills someone then it’s the owners fault
