    I'm new to airplants, and I love them, I must have been under a very big rock :) Now I'm obssessed with them, the only place so far I've found some, I'm in Canada, is on amazon, and I was really impressed with the quality and the fact that they did not die during transit. You have a beautiful collection and now a new subbie :)

    Mine were outside in the shade all summer and it got to 90 degrees and they did okay but I would mist them a couple times a day and soak once a week in rainwater

  • @terrie6719
    @terrie6719 7 років тому +2

    Your arrangement is beautiful. We just had Matthew go through and a lot of limbs came down with air plants on them. Some really big and some small. I see where it talks about submerging the plants couple of times a week as misting them did not give enough water. If you make an arrangement like you did and hot glue it to driftwood then how do you water them.

    • @JoyUsGarden
      @JoyUsGarden  7 років тому

      Hi Dave & Terrie - I hope all's well after the storm, it sounds like Matthew did a lot of damage. I generously spray or mist air plants on driftwood (in the sink or bathtub) a couple of times a week. The longest I've every kept an arrangement like in tact was 8 months. nell

    Thank you Nell. Very thorough. Can spraying more frequently take the place of soaking? I'm reluctant to remove them consistently from their mount. I want the roots to grip the driftwood.

    Hi! I got a tiny air plant from my daughter for Christmas and a bell shaped pod to attach it to. The plant arrived a few days ago with general instructions. I am not sure how to attach the plant to the pod. The pod is upside-down cup shaped with with a length of twine at the top that I can pull through to, I guess, attach the plant?? The plant is small, similar to the smallest plant on your video. there are two brown, roots to work with. Instructions say to choose two leaves to stick up inside the pod but the pod is five times the size of the plant. I could toss several air plants this size inside and they would all fall out if I turned it over to hang it. Help?? Thanks...

    Hi,
    Thank you for your great video. We have recently gotten a great collection of air plants, and hope to succeed With them.
    Wondering regarding soaking ; is using town tap water ok? Ie chlorinated? I have so far been lucky enough to collect rain water but do also have a Reverse osmosis deionisation unit which produces pure water.
    This RODI water would however maybe be lacking in beneficial elements ?

    • @JoyUsGarden
      @JoyUsGarden  9 років тому +1

      You could certainly do that NightMareOSU Rock & glass chips work fine too. The only issue with rice would be if you left the air plants in the rice when spraying them - the rice would get sticky. If you take the air plants out to spray or soak them, it would be fine. Using wild rice would be fun too. Best, Nell
