NGL, the way Francesca Hayward played her I thought there was some kind of age-gap romance about to happen between Victoria and Bianca. And then it didn't. SMH.
It is kind of ironic but when you consider the fullness of the situation I can see how this might be realistic.
I LOVE the original now that I’ve seen it but I think it’s great in this version Grizabella has someone sticking up for her. I mean one way or another the movie director was taking a lot of liberties.
While many of them I disagreed with, I thought this was actually kind of refreshing to see. The only other Liberty I would have taken is that a second opening to the heaviside layer (I’m sure I could think of some kind of reason) would be opened up for that year only, and then Gus and Grizabella would BOTH be chosen. But hey that’s just me.

Francesca has such a pretty voice that fits the character of Victoria so well. Is this movie anyone else’s guilty pleasure? I actually kinda liked it other than the weird ass CGI, but I got used to that part.
It's the most fun I had watching any 2019 movie. Although that's a blend of really enjoying some of the songs and laughing at the horror of other bits.
I honestly think her performance of "beautiful ghosts" was the second-best part of the movie right after "Memory"

I work in the film industry, so I think I can help your confusion. That character was cut because they weren’t essential to the plot. It also saves time and money because they didn’t have to hire another actor. They gave it to Victoria because it progresses the character development and story. She is the new cat which means shes the only one who doesn’t have a problem with grizabella. That’s why it makes sense that she would be the one to encourage her. It also developed their relationship. It shows why Victoria is important to the story. Without her, there would’ve been a different jellical cat. Things had to be changed to fit a film structure. This is just one of them. Other then Victoria, this film is a perfect adaptation of the stage show. When have adaptations ever been this accurate? Instead of focusing on one necessary change, focus on the bigger picture.
