As the owner of the 69 Ranchero shown here, I could not be more pleased with all Silver Sport did for me in converting to the T56 Magnum. The transmission, clutch, hydraulic throwout bearing, reverse lockout, SST shifter and installation have performed flawlessly for nearly two years now. I selected the wide ratio transmission with the 2.97 first gear given my stock 3.25 locking 9” differential. Two overdrive gears provide plenty of freeway speed and at least 20% better MPG on this 351W, 4-barrel engine. The STX Performance Shifter is by far the smoothest, shortest shifter I’ve used out of the 14 vehicles I’ve had with manual transmissions. Never misses a shift! Silver Sport was so easy to work with from the president on down the line. They treated me so well in all our dealings, beginning with multiple quotes. I drove the Ranchero 500 miles to their facility in Knoxville TN, met key staff, went over the vehicle, discussed plans and expectations, and toured the engineering, kitting, installation and warehouse facilities before departing for home. I was going out of country on travel so I encouraged them to exercise best engineering judgment where necessary. They exceeded my expectations! The project was completed on time and within the quote even though more engineering and installation effort was required on their part for this 68-69 generation Fairlane/Torino/Ranchero. I received a copy of the installation manual they prepared using data gleaned from my Ranchero. There are so many details that can derail a project like this. Long ago I converted a 55 T-bird from auto to manual. I still remember those lessons. One of many reasons I chose Silver Sport.
