  • True Kit Unboxing
    When we ordered our new Jeanneau 440 sailboat we knew we would need a dinghy. We didn’t want to ruin the lines of the new boat with davits. Looking for something that was totally inflatable so it could be stored in a locker and lightweight enough to be hoisted on the foredeck if needed. True Kit’s discovery truekit.nz/pro... was exactly what we were looking for.
    In addition to meeting our storage requirements it has an open bow that make entry and exits from the water easy. Snorkeling and beach excursions will be much easier than with a standard RIB inflatable.
    This episode we show how well the True Kit is packed for its journey halfway around the planet. In later episodes we will make some modifications to the boat. Be sure to like and subscribe, thanks for watching.
    Be sure and check out www.railblaza.... for more cool accessories. They have also been easy to work with and will be featured on a future episode.

      Thanks Roger, I keep working on editing and video skills. I'm an accomplished still photographer but there is a transition. I think we found a niche with buying and outfitting a new boat. Thanks for the support.

    I too bought the Discovery 330 (red) with a new Mercury 15 hp motor. It's been over 6 months and I still haven't even taken it out yet. 😂 I put together a nice trailer (collapsible) from Harbor Freight. Fitted it out with a winch & some nice runners. Hopefully by summer I have everything ready. Had to get a towbar imported from NZ for my little Holden Barina. They don't make them here in Australia. Added a few Railblaza accessories such as lights, rod holders, transom wheels etc.
    Now I just need to get my boat license. 😆
    When all is done I might make a video and send you the link. 👍

      We have a boat ramp in our neighborhood and we made a trailer from a 4 wheeler cart and just walk it down to the ramp. I'm thinking of adding a hydrofoil to get up on plane at lower throttle settings.

    I've always heard of railblaza for rod holders in kayak fishing. That dinghy looks like a lot of fun. How does it hold up?

      Not bad had one Railblaza fail but you can’t beat the variations of use.

    Nearly a year later how are you liking it? Is it worth the money? Looking to possibly get one of these for my son and I to do some lake fishing and occasional ocean fishing trips.

      We use our Discovery to support our sailboat and love it. Patricia and I can both stand and cast at the same time when fishing, it's that stable. We also like how easy it is to beach, I highly recommend the wheels. The only issue I have is with my 15hp Mercury engine. I need to add a hydrofoil and change the prop to get the boat on plane sooner especially when it is just me in it. That being said, once it is up it will outrun all the dinghy's in the anchorage. I would buy again no doubt. Rod is supper cool to work with and gives great advice. He is accessible and his customer service alone would put True Kit above any comparable boat IMHO.

    Hi David, fellow Texan here. Our Discovery arrives next week, and I wonder if you could share your experience getting it imported/registered? Thanks!

    • @SailingCAVU
      @SailingCAVU  2 роки тому

      The shipping company will send you a form but they handle customs. I think there was a small import tax that you will pay on the back end.
      The problem is Texas Wildlife is just a bureaucratic nightmare. They have a form online to register a new boat, do that before you go and print a copy. Take you receipt from True Kit and the customs paperwork. You also need to email Rod and get a manufacturers certificate of origin. When you pay the tax convert the NZD to USD or you will overpay and they only accept cash. Or the did last year. Good luck and have a drink standing by when you get home.

    would you mind sharing the link to the valve attachment to the blower? i have been using an identitcal makita blower to inflate it but i always just press it up against the valve and it seems to work fine.. but yea interested to see if that would be any more efficient.
