- Building a 12th scale Tudor dolls house. A true timber framed dolls house . The plan I am using was found in a old Dolls House and Miniature Scene magazine from about 2009. The plan is by Gerry Welch of Manorcraft who builds wonderful dolls houses for adult collectors. This is my first attempt at building a dolls house.

I don't know why this suddenly popped up in my recommended list in Nov 2020, but I'm so glad it did. What a beautiful house.
I've seen some dolls houses in my time but this one just has to be the most lifelike that I've come across.
A beautiful tudor house that looks so much like a real place and the architectural beams throughout look absolutely stunning.
The lighting makes it so cosy inside and the exterior is superb.

My daughter and I have just started to do the very same dolls house. It's lovely to spend time together despite me not being great at things like this and these are loads of missing parts! I might need to pick a few brains along the way I think!
Nobody will be under the impression from the title , it simply means it's his first doll house . Regardless of skill it is achievable as long as one has time and patience and there is a lot to learn from this video. Well done Sir

Beautiful house, a true work of art. I wish I could shrink myself to miniature size and live there, it is a gorgeous home. And it even has working lights! Very impressive and if this is your 'first attempt' as you put it, I can't wait to see more.

Although this is your first dolls house it is clear that you have considerable woodworking skills and lots of the tools needed for the job, some people may be under the impression from the title that they could do this when in fact this is a complex project requiring specialised skills and equipment and not for beginners
Im a keen DIYer no specialised tools or skills but lots of time and dedecation and a room to work in is whats needed. I worked 6-12 hours a day for months .With lots of rest and thinking times inbetween. It amazed me how it turned out.
Why would one have that impression? The title is simple and quite accurate. Does it say "And yes, anyone can do it!"? No, it doesn't. How about saying something positive?

Great house Noel. I love the timber frame. I'm a miniaturist myself and I enjoy seeing others work. I plan, in the near future to build a timber framed building, although it will probably not be a Tudor.

My husband and I began this house it was in a magazine but half way through I found it was too huge for me to handle so I omitted the centre piece leaving the 2 larger houses I'm still working on it and am not sure what to use for the tiles on the roof as das air drying clay is way too heavy, paper clay is not an option its way to expensive so Im sort of stuck right now you have made this tudor beautifully! it was Fun!
I used the same as the walls and floors as in the plans.

Ya i'm impressed! Beautiful job! I am building for the first time a half scale english tudor from a older kit. My wife bought it for me to build with my granddaughter. I quickly found out that this kit must be dry fit many times in order to get it correct. Good thing i bought a used steamer at goodwill because i had to steam apart pieces twice now. The kit was missing pieces for the front facade trim work which i am trying to layout now. What scale is your tudor and how did you handle your stucco? Also it looks like you made your own fireplaces hearths and lights. Fine work my friend-congratulations!

Hi Noel, firstly well done, the house looks fantastic and I love that its a proper framed dolls house! I'm just embarking on my first attempt too and was wondering if you have the plans you used to hand or know some way of me getting them. I've been searching for weeks for the copies of magazines that Gerry wrote the plans for but with no luck so any help would be fantastic! Hope the new house is going well!
