This is the one I've been waiting for. As a converted acoustic fingerpicker I might be a £400 compressor guy. As someone who works a normal job for normal money I'm not so certain. Just glad you're here to help us out. Keep up the good work buddy.
It's the normal job and normal money part that gets me. Regular compressors work just fine. I'm sure it's a great pedal, but it's not practical in my situation.
Love the content and passion. Will pick this up. Hate to even give unsolicited feedback or “constructive criticism”, but for some reason the narration is super sibilant. Thanks for all you do!
Mark, you are the goat. Everytime a CB pedal comes out, even if it's not one that particularly excites me, I watch your video on it all the way through. I also refer back to them as video manuals for the CB pedals I own. This one I am very into and will reference this video frequently. Thank you 🙏We don't deserve you.
I'm just a couple of minutes in, and looking forward to the demo part, but first: woah! When did you get the Black Magic? Have I just been spacing out on recent videos? A whole new level of video, Mark, truly excellent. (And I make movies for a living, currently at ILM, so I am sort of picky...)
I’ve actually been on the pocket cinema 6k for a year or so now but I think it’s more evident in some recent stuff because I’ve been changing up my lens choices. I was using a sigma 16-35 but for videos like this I’ve been grabbing either my 50mm 1.4 or 85mm which makes for crazy tight shots with a lot of depth of field on this camera.
@@markjohnstonofficial Ah, yeah. I also was watching this one on my OLED TV instead of my laptop, which really makes it pop. Is that the Sigma 50 or the Canon? Also, since I've actually watched the demo now: Great demo, as always.
@@SuddenSoundStudios it’s an ooooooold cannon ultrasonic 50mm 1.4. I recently picked up a canon 5d mkiii because for someone a million year old camera massive out shoots my Sony a7sii and it came w the 50 and the 85. The cropped sensor on the BM makes them crazy tight but super cinematic.
Love the video but i still don't really understand what sort of guitar player this is for. The compressor itself doesnt seem to offer those loved characteristics of the more common alternatives. And whilst the features like modulation sound great, most of us willing to invest so heavily in a pedal like this, are probably well covered for modulation options already. I do love that Chase bliss made this, im just not yet certain of its use case
It would be an excellent utility pedal. I think the $400-$500 chase bliss price tag would be totally justified for a pedal that could do everything the condor and clean does. Unfortunately, they would probably charge around $800 for something like that.
In a world where compression is becoming a flavour genre vs. an add on afterthought, what are features of pedals like this or the JA Bloom for instance that will develop into a new musical expression?
I may have to unsub eventually. So far because of your deep dives I’ve bought mood, reverse mode C, chroma, microcosm, echo fix, CXM 1978… I’m sure I’m forgetting a couple… oh yeah Thermae… damn… add all that up and it makes me kinda sick… totally worth it. I really need a good compressor though…. Shit.
A feature length movie on a compressor 😂 (I'm not complaining, love these extended deep dives!)

I’m in similar scenario, this pedal is tempting

@@nicholasrella6904yeah, if I were to pick one up it'd only be after selling some stuff first....
Normal Money would be a great name for a band!
This changes everything…until next week.
As someone who really enjoys playing clean ‘and has sensory issues I love the sound of compression I really want this
You do the best demo vids I've found. Especially for these very feature rich pedals like CB. Keep up the good work.
Great video Mark. Do you think you would ever make a video on how you set up Luna or tour template for writing songs?
Great idea! Please do!
This is the first Chase Bliss pedal I pre-ordered, wow. It literally does everything HAH. Great demo too Mark!
I honestly believe Joel Korte is a modern day genius. An amazing human being on top of that.

Thanks for demoing the noise gate! That’s super helpful.
This is the one I've been waiting for, so excited to get mine soon!

If anyone could blow my mind with a compressor, it's CBA. Also, brilliant intro with your spoken word showcase of this thing!
Wow, nice video! Which drum machine is at large here?
Super informative video, thanks! Is the noise gate completely transparent?
this or the compressor from origin effects? (in terms of compression, which one is better)?

Is a live demo on vocals the new demo format? Because, if not, it should be.
It will be when it makes sense to be and today it did.

you didn´t hear it in person.. common.. just wait and see xD
Ya, I think you might not get it.
@@bmoneybby don’t worry.. I do!

Do you know if the Clean sounds good in the front of a effects loop.?
It’s entirely being used in front of any effects loop here.
I would like to see a pedal that's a combo of this and the Condor.
That would be sick, I think this pedal can do some condor stuff like the eq sweeps and envelope stuff

check out the kinotone sparks
@@haha_ham_ that’s pretty cool, it looks like more of an OD than compressor but I appreciate you sharing it!
Hey Mark. Nice video!
I‘d also be interested in you trying out the Polyend Press compressor.
Should be coming early November

Read the field guide. It does a lot.
👍👍👍👍
Oh hey
Hey Mark, the pedal is cool and all, but you are a stellar musician. Beautiful opening song bruv.
This rules
