    I’m 90% certain that I have visual snow as I always see what I would describe as a faint layer of tv static over top of everything I see, however watching videos of it, the clips usually show vs to be a lot more intense than how I see it. Personally, my vs is not as intense as shown in the clip of the forest, *however* the clip at 1:30 show *exactly* how my vs looks and I don’t know how to feel about it. Excellent job

    I've had mild VS for a long time, it never really bothered me until a few years back... mainly because I didn't know any different. After a really long chat with a few friends one night about psychedelics/perception/colour/vision I realised that not everyone has static the whole time.
    I've spoken to my GP and an optometrist who both looked at me like I was crazy (I pester my GP about it every time, i see her for blood work etc). Seems its still a mainly unknown condition to a lot of the medical world.

      I have pretty severe tinnitus, always have. But I've had ear issues all my life and my eardrums have ruptured more than once, so it's always been thought that's why I have tinnitus.
      I only recently learned of VS when looking up what it meant (some random person had mentioned they had been diagnosed). When reading the description, I thought it sounded like a visual version of tinnitus...next paragraph on the page mentioned that many with VS also have tinnitus.
      So...did the ear damage also trigger VS? Are both issues totally unrelated to my ear damage or each other? Did I maybe develop these issues because I had scarlet fever when I was little?
      Who knows?! But it's interesting knowing what I have and how I see actually is different from the average.

  • @ihuggamez8264
    @ihuggamez8264 2 роки тому +8

    As someone who had normal vision then woke up with VS, I can definitely say there’s a learning curve and if you don’t find ways to cope it very well can destroy you. My vision was completely normal until about eight months ago, I am 19. There are moments that are more intense than others, it’s also caused pretty severe anxiety. If my heart speeds up in any way whether it be from working out, lifting an object, running for just one block or too much caffeine I get a panic attack cus I immediately overthink, I can ALWAYS feel my heartbeat. Though I will say after dealing with it for this long it has gotten easier to stop panic attacks and just live thru my eyes.
    I do believe for some it’s accompanied by tinnitus, which is the case for me, if it’s silent I hear like a pulsating wooshing noise, can’t even explain it, imagine everything in constant motion while hearing that in your head, could drive people crazy.
    Wish I could go back. It’s been controlling my life.

    I feel to call it distractive is subjective. For those of us who have had it our entire lives, and only just found out it's a thing and we dont see normal werent distracted by it, or anything like it. It's not distracting if you dont even know any better. It's just how you see the world. I'd say it's more of a distraction for those who weren't born with it and just develop it out of nowhere.

And to also add, the representation to what it looks like when people with this close there eyes is so relatable and cool. Alot of the time i used these patterns and lightshows to help me relax and go to sleep. And like most people here i also thought that this was normal for everybody. Also idk if this is a symptom but i notice then whenever i stare off into space and or hyperfocus on something. In fact, healthy people see almost the same way. The difference is that people with VSS see throughout the entire field of vision, while healthy people see only under certain conditions, for example in the dark. Many people misdiagnose themselves and live with it, not knowing that this is normal. I thought so too, until I found out that all my friends and relatives see the same way with a similar dot effect. Later I met a girl who has suffered from VSS since childhood and she explained the difference between the normal visual effect and VSS. i have this, im 13 now and have had it since i was born, i thought everyone had it till i told my mum i couldnt read a book for school because "the dots infront of my eyes were going crazy" i dont mind it much tho, it sometimes is helpful, little details stand out alot for me, for eg. I can walk up to a patch of clovers and come back with about 20, 4 leaf clovers in my hand sometimes i could even find 5 leaf ones. But yea idk what it like to not have it so i cant say if its difficult or anything like that

Make sure to look at the Visual Snow Initiative. It really helps having someone to talk to who shares the way you see. VS usually settles and won't increase and it has never led to blindness. There are also some videos in the internet that helps relieve visual snow temporarily (for around a minute or so). It makes us focus on a static much worse than the static we normally have.
    I am having visual snow since the past few months. Also I use computers for a prolonged period of time. Does that mean anything? I know that eyestrain from computers can cause migraines, dry eyes and even myopia. Since VSS is not very recognized, do you think there is a possibilty of visual snow arising from prolonged computer use or bad lifestyle choices?
    I also believe that visual snow is genetic since both of my sisters also admit of having it. But my visual snow was noticeable only since the past few months. I never had any experiences of visual snow as a child or a teen. I'm 19 btw.

    I started developing this in hs. I did notice it while staring at the sky, then it became more blatant while staring at white surfaces or walls/things that are plain-coloured, AND ON CARPETS. HELL THE CARPETS🤣🤣. Still it gets very noticeable in penumbra, when I stare at something in the distance, while when it’s very sunny I will notice it on bright- coloured surfaces.
    Tbh in hs I started suffering from anxiety, so I do unconsciously know this might connected to VS because somehow I’ve read about so many people developing it due to anxiety and stress. However I also have the suspect I might have mildly been suffering from this since I was a child. When I woke up at Grandma’s and it was night or dawn, I would see tiny coloured dots in the atmosphere. Idk how to explain this, but once I told my professor in middle school and he looked at me in a weird way XDDD
