    I got an Epiphone Casino Worn (olive drab for me) about 6 months ago & was starting to play, stretching out the strings so it would stay in tune, & then cancer treatments got more intense, & was in & out of hospital & cancer centers for other treatments & so it sits on my guitar rack next to my Epiphone acoustic, collecting dust. It was an impulse buy for me as well & I kept going back & forth on whether to buy it or not. Finally did & from what little I played it, it sounded great to me, as is. Just hoping I can get back to the point where I feel up to playing again as I wanted to record the songs I’ve written with it. It’s been a dream guitar of mine, being a Beatles fan, & I’m glad I bought it…just the timing of the purchase was off.

    The good olde days in the 1980s, when I paid £400 quid for a total pile of crap that needed a ton of work right away, which I could never get right lol. I have the Epiphone Casino above this in Bone. I have other hollow, semi-hollow, so I knew what I was buying. Awful cheap nasty running gear, I swapped out the crap Chinese plastic nut, basic tuners, rattling bridge, and hollow metal Tailpiece, and replaced them with quality parts. I kept the electronics and pickups as I didn't mind them. After a decent setup, I ended up with a guitar that's great to play I love and play it every day, it's my main axe. I used a lot of parts that the USA-built Epiphone casino uses. It's as nice as my late 1990's Gibson 335. These guitars are made cheap, and mass-produced, but can be made excellent with quality parts fitted. A modder guitar for sure. PS, the US-made ones are amazing, but they are £3000!

    That's the darkest Laurel fretboard I have ever seen.
    If you are a fat neck guy, try a Casino Coupe. 339 size Casino with 50's neck. They stopped making them, but you can still find used ones at a good price.

    😎. I also bought a black worn on impluse as a blues and rockabilly guitar. Even though the stock parts are all fine, I also swapped everything except the bridge. Grover tuners, Lollar pickups and Mojotone wiring harness and put on black knobs. I love the guitar now and it is now my #1 over a Fender tele and a Gretsch electromatic MIK.

    Congratulations. These are great guitars.. the hollow design is traditional and works as you want it to. The Casino/330 design is a delightful acoustic experience. keep it simple with pickups. make sure they are good- and get of the topic. Go to the wiring harness like you did! Seriously, these are very well made Chinese guitars.. some in Japan. .. but for the money.. they are a STEAL. Get them while you can.

    I bought this same guitar in worn ebony 2nd hand right after they came out and put a bone nut on it and had a setup done properly...I love this instrument and will never sell it. Light as a feather, great unplugged. Love the way the neck fits the arm...it's a great almost acoustic electric and the P90s go from clean and warm at 7 to warm breakup at 10....I use a GE7 ep pedal to dial in the tone but what a great guitar...I also have the Inspired by Gibson es 335 58 replica with the thick neck....between these two guitars I can cover a lot of sonic ground. Hate the pickguard being that close to the switch so lost the pickguard. Great band you've got there...my idea of a good time! Enjoy your Casino!

Also I think it is mainly a rhythm guitar, great with lush reverb. But as a lead guitar its a bit too nasely for me. I think the Sheraton or a Jazzmaster is the preferred choice here.

    You sir is an serious player , nice vid , subscribed , greetings from holland , ohh , ehh , and yes i'm just as implusive and like to tinker with my gear , but ..... after 40 years of jangling on any type of guitar , i have decided to go with my basic set up , a strat , lp jr. and acoustic ( bugdet style meaning an squier , epi and sigma ) . An ES 330 / casino is a joy to play imo , i am a big fan of P 90 pu's anyway ( thats why the junior , i think the epi pro P 90 is pretty good sounding P90 , i did raise the polepieces a bit , it gives more clarity / treble to the sound , maybe you can try this on you're bit muddy neck pu , if you have not already done that as the fellow tinkerer : ) .

    Andy...it's as if I was talking to a mirror. I bought the same guitar in a local shop. I walked away from it after playing it. Went home. Almost walked in the house and then....my brain said...that is the best and least expensive guitar you will ever have the pleasure of owning...a stretch of a justification...but I did go back and get it. Still hangs right where I can grab it anytime. Odds are you will trade or sell an expensive guitar than an inexpensive one.

      @andyknightguitarist  2 місяці тому

      Haha, yeah they are really nice guitars eh! I know what you mean about expensive vs inexpensive. I’ve had a few more expensive guitars in the past and ended up trading or getting rid of. I have a 96 Fender Japanese 50s reissue strat that I’ve had for 20 years, that was a cheap buy back then and it has out lived a PRS a Gibson and a Suhr, not saying that those guitars were/are bad though, it’s more about me I think 😂

    I like our local music gear store and the people working there, i had a great impulsive moment there when i saw a Gretsch semihollow which i just had to have (i play Metal/Doom).
    So visiting the local store does not avoid me from spontaneous big purchases. And i think buying online is less risky because (especially with Thomann) i have weeks to try it at home and in rehearsals, time to think about it and then i can still send it back to get back the money. I bought a Duesenberg for over 2k online, on Reverb from a small shop in Germany, they shipped it and i never had to send it back.

    • @andyknightguitarist
      @andyknightguitarist  Місяць тому

    • @Leychen
      @Leychen Місяць тому +1

      @@andyknightguitarist Seems like that! And tbh i rarely buy stuff online when i can't send it back (except some pedals, but these are easier to sell used), i talked to the seller to make that sure before buying the Duesenberg but it's my main guitar since i got it. Also ordered a Dean Z Select once, beautiful guitar with a nasty Floyd Rose... after 2-3 weeks of messing around with it i've already had enough so i decided to send it back before it's too late.
      Buying gear is always a question of philosophy and it's hard to find something which "fits perfectly".
