@@sirensofsouthusa6397 this is in NZ. We don’t use fire sirens in the UK as we don’t have many volunteer fire stations however in New Zealand many require a siren to notify the volunteer for a call out. Here in the UK the only sirens we have are for floods, chemical complexes, oil refineries, nuclear waste material, factory warning systems, high security psychiatric hospitals etc We don’t have that many Carters in the UK. Mainly Klaxon/Secomaks, Castle Castings and electronic sirens
The volunteer fire station I used to be at used the pager in the sky. I still miss the sound of the relay going clunk if I was near by when a job dropped. Now we all carry pagers. No more sirens.
Is it sad that I knew it was a Carter just from the sound or maybe because they where so common here in the UK for many many years. Sadly loads gone now since the end of the Cold War.
New Zealand Fire Callout Sirens are standard, and must make the same sound nationwide - thus they will always use the same type of siren. If this one ever breaks, they will get a new one ( there is a company in Wellington that makes them).
If it's an old system, it will start on Y (lower voltage) and then go to Delta (higher voltage). If it has a soft start using power electronics, it probably runs on whatever.
I've been searching forever to see what happens in the fire station when the siren goes off. As if in what type of lever is pulled or button is pushed and the actual mechanism itself. I got so close with this video and you didn't even bother to show what the fuck he was doing behind that open cabinet door. Total fail!😲

Let's see, based a little, on my American siren (and controllers) experience.... A receiver, a timer, motor starters(s), fuses, switches, and indicator lamps typically. The motors are between 5 and 10 HP, 230/400 ( 3ph 208-480/60Hz USA) three phase in most cases.
Volunteer fire brigades; not worth paying people to sit around at the station in case they're needed. This is the bat signal, but not relying on clouds.
The sound of a 10/12 port siren on 50Hz is hard to beat! Sounds amazing
Great sounding siren - love the star / delta change over!
no idea what that means but ok
@bah low to high voltage
Love how it changes from a slow wind-up to a fast one.
That's a star delta start
It had a hiccup
@@sirenmaster1735 No hiccup, Its a Star-Delta starter, can be safer for motors.
The fist-pump dance from last time was more impressive than the "smack your hand against the cabinet door" dance :-)

It's a carter siren
Love the old flip number clock.
That makes two of us!
That's a star delta controller on the siren isn't it! Awesome vid great sound!
This siren is gone the whole tower is removed
If they ever decommission that siren (hopefully they never do) but if they did you have to take it!

1:30 is that originally a British WW2 air raid siren?
I think it’s a Klaxon CS6, one of those..
Its a ww2 carter siren
Did the siren do the same tone for an emergency or a different tone
No, same tones, it is a two speed siren. Star Delta start 230/400 Volts
0:34 Party begins
Sounds like a Broadmoor Escape Siren
AwesomeFireFan they are the same makes of siren.
They are the same siren except broadmoor has solenoids on the air intakes to give the hi-lo sound
They are NOT the same make. They are definitely not the same siren. The sound is the only thing that is Similar is the sound even that's not the same.

How come dose it speed up quickly as it winds up

Also I know little about motors, but does it start up slow because you're starting on Y and running on delta? I forget the order, sorry
Something like that, I can't remember either.
