    Regarding the Milky Way…
I grew up on the east coast, moved to Oregon in 1984. I played competitive Ultimate, a group of folks who tended to be short on $, so when we travelled to weekend tournaments, we sometimes camped out (or maybe stuffed the whole team in one motel room). The Corvallis team held a tournament in late spring of 1985. We crashed on Saturday night at a park south of town.
Given the beautiful weather, we slept on the ground under a moonless clear night sky. As I looked up I saw a long narrow cloud stretching from horizon to horizon and commented to those in the dark around me that I’d never seen a cloud like that. Among the ensuing chuckles, one of my teammates kindly informed me that is the Milky Way.

I have been blessed to work , live and play in these areas most of my career. The "big lonesome" is that special. People should also consider this particular region has some pretty unsavory activity on the part of the feds in the way they have dealt with local people. I learned long ago that I can get more accomplished on the land and in the water by considering all involved. It is good policy here as well.
