    Clothespins are great for holding it in place while positioning it ... actually clothespins and paint sticks to keep it flat

    I had to do the same thing with the pan on my 13 Charger. No drain plug on it either

    I don't recommend the super glue tip. Big headache on the next gasket replacement.

      Not really when he replaces filter it will go with the old filter

      Yes and no. If you end up changing the gasket there’s no way you could save the gasket but I’m sure if u took a blade to it, it would come right with some elbow grease.

      I usually use sewing thread to tie my gasket in place using every other hole and a small wire wheel on a cordless drill to clean my pan surface.

      @@bobbyeddins1132 use the bolts and attach them from the top, when you go to reinstall it remove the bolts and insert them bottom side. You don't need every bolt on the bottom to keep it in place enough to install it so just put as many bottom side as you can handle, the start ratcheting them in. With smart placement you can just slip the other ones in because the other holes will be aligned enough everything just fits.

    I'm trying to remove the pan on my 71 c10. I've run i to a problem with the last 2 bolts are completely blocked by the crossmember supporting the transmission.
    Is there a right and or wrong way of getting to those bolts?

      loosen or remove the bolts where the transmission mount bolts to the cross member, put a jack under the tailhousing of the transmission and lift a coupe inches

    Awesome video sir , I had a question how many quarts of oil did you end up using? Only 4 ? Or more after it got to the right temperature to check the level

    • @OldGrumpsGarage
      @OldGrumpsGarage  2 роки тому +2

      Thank you. I ended up using 4 quarts. Once warm I checked it twice and it showed full on the dipstick.

    But how did you get the pan off? I have all bolts off, but pan will not come out, there is a bar over one side, 72 Cutlass

      Are you talking about the transmission crossmember?
      If so, take the bolt out of the transmission mount and gently jack up the tailshaft of the transmission just enough to slide the pan out

    you don't really know what you're doing. used a screen for a filter and not using a 1/4 drive torque wrench on the pan bolts .

    Great video. 1) Any leaks so far? 2) cork better than rubber gasket? Thanks!

      None. She's dry as a bone. No more puddles on the driveway.
