As someone who just moved to Norway I can confirm the last point. I've been to a few bars in the last few months, and every time I get swarmed by drunk Norwegians who all of a sudden want to speak English to me and tell me how great Norway is.
Only real downside to this is I end up drinking more and I get more and more Canadian. The more Canadian I get the less they can understand my English.

Syllaa Well that depends on what kind of chocolate. Because tolberone or chocolate with caramel or salt isn't that cheap. But if you're buying milk chocolate from the ah or euro shopper or jumbo it's about 50 cent.

Taco Friday ?!?! Silly Norwegians, tacos are for Tuesday! (Well, they're for any day of the week, really. But, if they're going to have a designated day, it's Tuesday. Not Friday, geez.) Greetings from the Lone Star State.

    • @kevinireland1619

whirl tech - tacos are great any day of the week.

    • @LifeOnHoth
      @LifeOnHoth 3 роки тому +1

yeehaw! Most Norwegian doesn't know what the Lone Star State is :). U can have TacoTuesday over there, but we aint having none of that of course. It's actually Taco-Friday (not tex mex friday even tho it's actually tex-mex and not taco so to speak that norwegiands "love" so much. And the twist - It's TOTALLY a myth! Most norwegians does not eat tex-mex on Fridays. Any day of the week is far more common. It's a thing created by food companies with the help of TV commercials mostly. I don't know many that actually enjoys tex-mex to that extent. Most are - well - mostly sick and tired of it. What should really be in this video is how good extremely many norwegians are at bragging about ourselves, and stepping on a lot of other's toes, judging other cultures without even making an effort to understand the differences etc. :). But dam - it's taco friday, not tex-mex friday! :D

Not every norwegian person is like that. This is a generalization. I'm the kind of person who talks to anyone, any age, any race, background, from all walks of life. IF I feel like it, I do. And sometimes I prefer to be in my own little world with awesome music on my ears when I am outside going grocery shopping or just going for a walk or whatever, and I love that I don't get interrupted and sucked out of my little bubble too often. People have respect for each others space here and I like that.
So how did it go? I see you wrote this 4 months ago, so you have most likely been here now, right? Hope you enjoyed your time here =)

Hey Sunny, how are you :D? Haha, well just wanted to comment that I find 2 weird things norwegians do familiar!
First one is the very first one you said, I live in Spain, I'm Spanish and I usually do it. Doesn't matter if I'm in a hurry or not, maybe I dont feel like talking, maybe I'm just listening to music and dont want a conversation I don't know, but most of the time I'm walking somewhere I ignore everything that surrounds me. And I'm not the only one, the northern part of Spain is kinda introvert, which leads us to the second familiar thing! Yes, most of us (at the north) are a tad colder and introvert than most visitors think, but give us a few beers and we'll tell you everything you don't want to know x)
BTW a chocolate bar here can be found for less than 1€ haha

I live in North Dakota, which along with Minnesota, probably has the highest percentage of Norwegian heritage in the U.S. Personally, my heritage is 1/2 Norwegian and 1/2 Icelandic, so hearing all these things about Norway is especially interesting to me.
My town (Minot) has the largest Scandinavian festival outside of Scandinavia... yeah, we're pretty proud of that!
Anyway keep the videos coming, they're a lot of fun.

+Patollaj Usually in the US if you say hello to someone they will say hello back. Unless they're rude then they will more than likely just ignore you. So no not every country is like that.

I'm an American (born and raised), but I'm also I'm 1/8th Norwegian, I've always felt cutoff from my Norwegian heritage aside from times I look up on Scandinavian myths and folklore, my great grandmother was full blooded Norwegian and not much in terms of Norwegian traditions were passed down, but I feel MUCH closer to my Norwegian side now after watching your video, It's awesome to hear just how alike I am to my far-off distant cousins!

Can you iceskate outside all year in Norway? Here in the Netherlands the last outside iceskatingrally (The Frisian Eleven city rally) was in 1997, where king Willem Alexander was still a prins. Each year we're hoping for a new rally, but the ice is to thin. Love your videos. Marc

Maybe one day I'll live there - if I like it there thaaat much. Just awesome

I am new to this channel and I like it. It's funny you mentioned Norwegians being introverted. I come from Greece and Greeks are considered to be loud extroverts. But I am quiet, calm and highly introverted. I think my mentality is closer to a Chinese person. Traditional Chinese profile is: Quiet, calm, shy, reserved and hard working. And emotional too. Most Greeks speak English well, but it also depends on how old they are. My father for example could never learn English because of bad teacher. But he speaks some German and French. I think Sunny is funny, smart and very cute. I am starting to learn Spanish because of her videos :-p

Living in Minnesota in the United States, I had a Norwegian family friend that visited and called the state "Little Norway". When I visited Norway, it didn't feel any different from being in Minnesota as far as interacting with people.

your point on norwegians being introverts is spot on lol i swear its genetic my great grandfather immigrated to the states from norway on my fathers side of my family and my great great great grandmother on my moms side did the same and just about everyone in my family have been introverts ......i honestly think im the worst of the bunch lol
