Don't forget guys: We love Mexico!! And a looong list of all the things we like is waiting to be recorded..
But for now, do you agree with us? Let us know here in a nice and civilized way :)
Toilet paper is NOT flushed because of clogging drains, filtering water, and the lack of modern sewage systems
Ps a huevo stoy d acuerdo. Le
As a Mexican, I agree with you guys.
Well, I have never felt unsafe in Mexico (CDMX, Queretaro, SMA, Guanajuato, Leon) while travelling alone there. In fact I felt more unsafe staying in Barcelona, Manchester or my hometown in Germany 😁
VENGAN A YUCATÁN ❤️
Geraldine Quintero y el “viene viene people” JAJAJ

Jaja, tienes razón, I think that Janik is an amazing and funny guy. -Saludos

In the United States, there’s actually two states where people pump your gas for you: Oregon and New Jersey.
Here in Massachusetts we have gas stations that are full service stations where people pump the gas for you but only certain gas stations. There's even a town here where all of the gas stations are full service stations by law.
Kayleigh Eckhardt only two? I‘ve grown up in NJ but I felt like there were more. I guess I never really paid attention to EVERY state. My bad.
jeffpro18 where is this town you speak of??? I moved to MA from NJ .... yup, I do not pump my own gas 🙈🙈🙈luckily I found a full service station by my new town lol
@@gstar3752 Milford, MA where I used to work. Maybe law is not the right term but its mandatory in that particular town. Sorry English is second language for me.
I am Mexican, when I lived in CT during my college years, I used to drive far to the only gas station where people pump the gas for you.
I'm italian and here toilets are the same as in Germany and all around Europe I guess... And then I went to Perù at my mother in law’s house and I automatically throw the paper in the toilet and I got her toilet clogged TWICE........ So embarassing she had to go buy a plunger 😂
That's the first thing a told my German boyfriend to throw the toilet paper on the trash can
@@m1sh3vEn ahaha yes they told me too but it's something I do so automatically I always realized once the paper was in the toilet already, so hard for me to remember stop doing that
Toilets you cant flush are bad..should hardly be called toilets..
In Italy it always confuses me that at some places you have to put the toilet paper into the trash and at other places into the toilet. Once, when I asked my Airbnb landlady how I was to do it, she said I could put it into the toilet and if I had been told otherwise, then that must have been in the South. Well, that was in Bologna (me having to use the trash), which is not exactly in the South. ;-) These days when there is a trash can, I use it in Italy. But the habit of wanting to throw the paper into the toilet is very strong. I have to tell myself "you are not in Germany; don't do it" .
in Lithuania it`s 50/50 so I relate to both xD
6:11 That’s something I actually like about Mexico. Getting a “decent” job so those people can feed their families and not become part of the narcos or something. It’s similar in Spain, they have NO jobs and they can’t get any money because there are not “unnecessary” jobs.
me too, mexican are like '' there's no job, so we'll make one'' because at the end of the day we all have to make some money so at least some kids are filling bags at chedraui instead of selling drugs or whatever
Janik, don't make that smile again. EVER
Me asusté 😭😭😭
Joss and Janik talking about poop's paper
Me having breakfast: well... Ok, it could be worst.
"Viene viene people" jajajaja 💗
Thankfully the toilet paper thing is changing now. It was a misconception that people had about the toilet clogging. The health industry is trying to educate people that it isn’t sanitary to throw it in a trash can. That’s why now there are signs that ask you to please put your toilet paper in the toilet.
But do you (or did you) throw it in the trash can at home, too, or is that only a thing at public toilets?
I see more signs telling people NOT to put paper in the toilet; I live in Morelia and had visited every corner of Mexico, unless you live in a major city with infrastructure to support waste. It is still the norm to put poopy paper in the basket.
Putting paper in the trash can is gross and disgusting. Let's civilize Mexican fellows.
@@aliceignis I don't think it's a public toilets thing, unless there's a sign specifically asking you not to throw the paper in the toilet, in which case I assume they have a problem with the plumbing or water pressure. But I'm from Mexico City and since I was a child I have thrown the toilet paper in the toilet both at home and at public places, (not only in Mexico City, I do the same whenever I travel to other states) but I know a lot of people who don't, not at public places and not at home, it depends on what you were told to do by your parents I guess...
it's not about a "misconception", it's about infrastructure, some places doesn't have wastewater treatment plants, it is a different system, the traditional one uses septic tanks that can't work properly with paper in it. So if u don't know what to do with the paper is better if u put it on a trash can unless it's specify u can throw ir in the toilet.
"I love Mexico, I'm Mexican, that's why I'm Mexican" 😂😂😂 love that

Wtf!
En chile también
Aquí en República Dominicana es igual también 😂

I love what Joss says, I’m literally always telling people that Mexico isn’t just that insecure country, I keep telling everyone how good and beautiful Mexico is, cause yes WE HAVE MORE TO OFFER, I’m not offended at all as a Mexican cause it is what it is but we aren’t JUST that, that’s for me the highlight of the video and as Janik said, no country is perfect, not everything is color de rosa:)
The reason the toilets back up in Mexico is because the sewer piping connecting to those fixtures are not plumbed right. If the plumbing is not correctly installed then it leads to stoppages in your toilet.
We talking of the same country??!!...I don't think so.
Yea the paper poop culture is complicated, we know it's not healthy but as Joss said our pipes could get super clogged cause they're not designed to flush the paper. And the viene viene Is not much of a job is actually to prevent them from stoling your car or parts of your car so basically you pay them to not get robbed.
@Aputsiaq Malakiassen It Is.
Thank you guys! This video finally made me decide what my next vacation destination will be. At first I was a bit hesitant, because of what you hear in the news, but your love and enthusiasm for the country gave me that last little push I needed, thanks. Matamoros, Tamaulipas summer 2020!! I'm super excited
Corona ruined that vacation huh?
I love the way you talk about México, being a Mexican I know all the flaws that are part of here, but I also know that my country is beautiful, exciting, worth knowing and most of all, loved across the world...
The drinking is totally a thing, as a young mexican girl is shocking for others that you don't want to drink beer or any alcoholic drinks
“ ting” 😝 you guys are so adorable!! Definitely made me burst out laughing! 🤣
This video was so hilarious, it’s so nice that even though it was a video talking about stuff you guys don’t like it has positive vibes!!! Btw the intro was so aesthetically pleasing
Hi guys! I started to watch your videos like two weeks ago and I fell in love with your personality. You guys help me a lot with my English and motivate me to continue studying German. Love you!
Goal at 2:50 i wanna talk in double sense like that with that future person😅
OK, I understand the plumbing can't handle toilet paper, but I wish they had a bum gun like in Thailand!
I don't know exactly why it is that some Mexicans still use the trash can for toilet paper, but I ALWAYS throw it in the toilet and it never gets clogged, so it's not the plumbing. I think it's an incorrect preconceived notion that people keep passing to younger generations (maybe this was a real problem many years ago), but nowadays you can and should throw toilet paper directly in the toilet.
@@michcg I am kinda confused with this, because in Chile i have always thrown the toilet paper in a trash can, never inside the toilet. It seems that the system is different
Vaya el susto!!! 10:07
Me lleve con la sonrisa de Janik.
You guys have such a great and authentic chemistry, really enjoy your openness to each other. Also love the style of how you give the different categories very original names, it makes it more unique and less offensive bec you are fine not being too serious with yourselves!
Me reí muchísimo XD
I hope more creators create content like this. This is really needed. Thank you so much!
Uy! Llegué temprano. Love u guys! ❤️❤️🤠
Fun video...I could tell you guys had fun making it 😁
In new jersey someone also fills your car at the gas station, so in USA it also happens.
2:49-2:59 hilarious 😂

Guys! I'm a big fan
Currently I'm studying english, I practice my listening with your videos and I understood this video totally in english! This was so excited to me, thanks for all, I love you! ❤️🙆🏻♀️
I am happy you guys are being honest❤️

This has been by far one of the funniest videos of you guys!! Loved it
This channel is so fun and I like how vulnerable and open they are about their experience and perspectives. I get to learn about Mexico and Germany. Random: I haven’t heard the name Janik in years, since my old roommate from Switzerland but he spelled it with a “Y”, Yanik.
I know Janniks, Yaniks and Yannicks in Germany. Various variants of the name are common in Germany.
Liked the video guys!!! Hugs to both of you. I wanted to start out by saying that when I lived in Mexico since I was born there.. until I was years old, we never ever put poopy toilet paper in the trash can, it's so gross, but thank god we never did that. I do however remember seeing that in other houses.
Also, I live near Portland, OR USA and here, there's also people that work filling your gas tank. It's so nice not having to get out of the car since we get quite a bit of rain here..
I love this couple.!!!🥰 The way they look at each other. Me contagian con sus risas.

First of all: ich liebe euch!!! ;-D
the viene viene help parking guys were the finniest part! hahahaha i love u guys
Let me be polite:
Well sir, those people who give you paper towels are called Restroom Attendants. You see them in the night clubs.
And in some towns in the U.S. do still have a Gas Attendant where ever you travel. In the old days (around the 70's to mid 80's), it was common to see that in cities. However, to make things charming the Gas Attendant is available on Holidays Events or Grand "Openings" in some neighborhoods - A Tourist Thing, but not always either.
Estaba esperando su vídeo 😅😊👌🇲🇽
Excelente video chicos!! 👏👏👏🥰🥰😘
You guys make me laugh so much 😁😁 you are so creative!!!👍👍
Amé el video, me estuve riendo mucho ❤️😂
I love your videos, always make me laugh. Saludos desde Sunnyvale, CA. ❣️
We had a big discussion about it when were in Mexico with some friends (I got this from my husband the translator) but they all decided it was tradition that they put paper in the trash.
Gran video, as always!.. You´re amazing!
I can't wait to see your video about the long list of things you like about Mexico
I’ve never heard of putting used toilet paper in the trash. I live in the US, but have traveled in Europe, lived in Egypt for 2 years, lived in Chile for a year and a half and have been to Peru, Argentina, Brazil and I never saw anyone putting used toilet paper in the trash. This seems to be something unique to Mexico. I’m 56 and when I was growing up my grandfather and father owned a gas station which was also a service station (they were mechanics and fixed cars). At that time in the States there was no such thing as pumping your own gas. There were service station attendants. That was my first job when I was 12. We filled your tank, checked your oil and washed your windshield. There was no charge for this, and we would wash and clean the inside of your car for a charge. Service station attendants were a real thing in the US. Seems like Mexico still uses them. I love it!
Im really liking Joss’s new haircut! Beautiful! ❤️
Omg!
For the toilet paper it depends alot on where you live and what type of piping system there is. If you live in an urban area of middle/upper income then it's more probable that the piping system can deal with toilet paper. Lower income houses have terrible piping systems, especially those sold from the 90's and before through our social housing system. And old houses that have not been well cared for can have issues with clogging, even if they are placed in areas of good income.
What's crazy in having a restroom trash bin does apply here in the States too. When I lived in Colorado (because I live in Texas and it's true in the Southern states) with my brother, he told me that flushing the toilet is stronger than in Dallas TX. Now, I'm only talking about residences or in small businesses areas, not in schools, hotels, fancy places or airports, etc.
P.S.A. Sometimes the porter potties are way, way better or cleaner than inside of a gas station. Yes, speaking today of 2020. So welcome to Texas or the South of the U.S. or the entire U.S.A. depending....lol!!!!
Joss your hair looks stunning! 😁💕💁🏼♀️
Jajajaj 10:08 me asusté 😂😂😂
Muy buen video chicos ❤
Discovered you today, new subscriber!
😂😂😂😂 amé éste video, saludos 💖💖
Haha I love the video ❤️ you guys are my fav but I have to say I’m Mexican and my mother always said el papel en el toilet! So I grew up clogging the toilet haha 😂
Nice video! :)

Omg I almost threw my food out of my mouth when I saw Janik's face acting like the robber 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

"Think"🎶😂🤣....
6:22 In the U.S. we have them too. In New Jersey and Oregon, it is illegal to pump your own gas.
I love my "Fußbodenheizung"
This really made me laugh. You guys are so cute!!!! I know the toilet paper thing from Greece and Spain. Their tubes are just smaller and not as well built as in Germany and they have huge problems with all the tourists blocking their sewage system...
Edit: omg Janik's creepy face almost gave me a heart attack 😂
Spain? Where? My experience there was different, it was like other part of Europe.
Adoro sus videos!!! Siempre muero de risa
0:58 "I love Mexico, I'm Mexican and thats why Im Mexican..." JAJAJAJA ❤❤
To perceive the bad and the uncomfortable things and to want to deal with them is also an expression of love for the country. Thanks for telling your stories. Funny, lovely.
Agree...Like Janik, I've seen places that ask you to throw paper in the toilet, saying it's biodegradable (not in San Luis, though, think it was in Puerto Vallarta). I've always wondered why since paper is biodegradable. My family comes from San Luis and most of them use trash cans for used toilet paper. It's gross when trash cans are not cleaned out regularly. About insecurity, I usually ask my friends to use common sense (not walking alone in dark alleys, not wearing jewelry when you go to downtown in Mexico City, etc.). Great video, I really enjoyed it!
Yes yes yes!!! Thank you so much for making this video!!! I felt so much better knowing I’m not the only one who is irritated by these!! After 14 years of being in the US, my husband finally was able to return to Mexico and see his family (gracias a Dios). It was the trip of a lifetime and in general we had a great time. However this was my 3rd time to México (I visited his family without him) within 5 years (I stayed for a month each time) and although I loved it, these things you mentioned (and a few more) just drive me nuts. And for him of course everything was color de Rosa. The other things I would add (some may be specific to the region I was in):
Topes.
Lots more trash en las calles.
Cell service can be crappy.
Bugs/ fleas on the “pets”/ dirty pets.
Clothes wash machines suck (if you have one)
Heat/ Humidity / mold (tropical parts during summer)
Showers with no barrier on the floor to keep the water away from toilet area.
No soap or no hand towels or toilet paper in the bathroom. Sometimes no seat on the toilet just the bowl!!
In some regions the kitchen doesn’t have a sink, it just a square concrete well (pozo) with water that just sits there and a concrete decline going down in the drain.
No wash rags in the hotels. (Is that just me that uses them?)
Like I said I really do love going to visit but it was definitely difficult for me to deal with all huge differences mentioned above. It’s my goal to go visit different places within Mexico to try to improve my attitude/view point!!
Chicos son increíbles, amo sus vídeos !!!!
Que hermosa Joss!! ❣️ Saludos desde Monterrey, México

On the “full service” service at gas stations, this used to exist in the U.S. during the 70s and 80s (when I was a kid), you had the option to use this full service if you wanted to but fuel was more expensive to compensate for the service :) Mexico has simply kept this old custom.
.
On the poop in he trash can question, it is bc the plumbing overall is very old and toilets clog easily. This threw me off too-esp. the smell. But thankfully, Mexico also usually staffs bathrooms with attendants so they keep it clean & well stocked (compared to Europe where I’ve also lived-Germany, Spain & London) for the most part. I lived in Mexico City a year ago for 6 mos and as Janik says, some buildings now have upgraded/modern plumbing and they do have signs telling you to throw TP in the toilet 🚽 & not in the trash 🗑. Progress is slow but getting there 😁
Saludos desde Colombia guys!
😂😂😂😂 "I walk out the shower and I'm like...."
Hey living in Japan, we have heated toilet seats, we can choose the temperature! Also, washlets, or bidets in every toilet, you also choose the temperature and strength of the water. Toilets in Japan are awesome!
Amo su canal ♥😊
😂 love the last story is our day a day... and we hate it. But Janik that face? What happen to you?
