    Very clever using the scraping technique to “age” the painted panels. Totally correct. Adding paint would have gone the wrong direction. I have learned so much watching these videos. Patience. Attention to detail. Sometimes less is more, but sometimes you have to simply do more. Wonderful work! Thank you.

    I must confess that at first i was disappointed that you hadn't used any washes to bring out all the panel lines and greables etc,
    but when i started watching your final reveal of the Falcon it suddenly dawned on me, OMG you have copied the original film model down to the very last fine detail, and of cause the original did not have any washes.
    For this reason alone i must bow my head in respect and congratulate you on what could be the most realistic and accurate version of the New Hope Millennium Falcon ever built!
    You my friend have not only lived up to my expectations, you have surpassed them!!
    May the force be with you always.

    Hey Chili, for the lack of security on the kit supplied stand, use "rare earth magnet's" Just make sure you leave just a small gap between them as they are so strong if you allow them to make contact they are tough to separate. Beautiful build by the way!!

    Question, after applying the decals on the cockpit of the Falcon, why do you have to drill the holes on the gray doors and on the back of the panels? Is it to let the LED's lights in? If so, what kinds of drilling tools did you use in making the Falcon?

    How wonderful! I scraping on the painted areas worked great, but I was a little surprised that you looked at the decals when doing it. Since the decals themselves are an attempt at copying the model, then your copy of them would be a copy of a copy. Seems you'd be better off looking directly at photos of the model when scraping. But nonetheless great job! Thanks for the video :)

    Just gathering tips from around the different videos on this build before my Falcon turns up later this month (I hope). Yours are by far the best ones in my opinion. Having said that, did you consider using Liquid Mask or Humbrol Maskol to do the chipping on the coloured panels instead of scraping off the paint? I'm asking because the Liquid Mask looks like a very effective way of doing it but there must be a good reason why you didn't do it? What am I missing?

    What are some of the challenges that you have in painting the PG Falcon? Did you find it hard to do it? and second the installation of the LED lights and untangling of the wires itself, was it also difficult as well?

    • @modelchili
      @modelchili  6 років тому

    One thing I've always wondered about the exhaust, even on the models used in the movies. It's the direction of the exhaust marks. Wouldn't air flow passing over the haul make the marks move more in a straight light back, instead of flaring out to the sides? I don't know, just asking. Can anyone clarify if there are directional vents on the exhaust that would cause the marks to stray left and right instead of straight back.

    • @modelchili
      @modelchili  6 років тому

      Well think about it this way: there's no airflow in space. If an exhaust vent blows waste in a certain direction it'll stick to that direction no matter the direction the ship travels in. Having said that, the vents do blow straight back, it just looks like they don't.

    So for the weathering powder, did you put a matte clear coat down first and then apply the powder or did you just apply the powder then apply a clear coat after.

    • @modelchili
      @modelchili  5 років тому

      I always apply the Tamiya weathering master over a gloss coat, it makes it much easier to clean up and modify. It would stick to a dull coat like glue. I applied a flat coat over the weathering once it was done.

    • @MachRacer4
      @MachRacer4 5 років тому

      @@modelchili Understood. Thanks for the advice. I'm just starting in the whole weathering my models thing so the advice is much appreciated. Especially since I have the 1/144 scale Millennium Falcon kit that I plan to paint and attempt to weather.
