As a Roma fan I can say that the work Mou has done is immense within the club. There is a lot wrong with the club and the team due to past ownership and poor management and a whole host of other problems from agents to the mayor of Rome. If he is given time and the support in the transfer market, which I think he will. Roma will be a good side. But we have to remember last season, with only a couple of different players They only just finished 7th. To draw to Napoli, nearly beat juve and show other promising signs is more than we should have expected anyway. Give it time, give him a bit more money and he’ll make this team his own I’m sure if it. I feel there is far too much criticism of Jose and of roma, when if any other club were under these circumstances they’d be cut a lot more slack.
I do think there are criticisms that are valid for mou, I also think he’s not the same that he used to be. But I think his ‘downfall’ is being overplayed.
And on the point of Roma’s transfers - mentioned toward the end of the video. These transfers were made out of necessity. Viña at LB a was to replace injured spina. Rui Patricio was a necessary transfer given the performance of Pau Lopez last year, and was also relatively cheap. Tammy Abraham was replacing dzeko and is often quoted at being 40 million or whatever. But this is paid yearly, and Chelsea have a buyback clause for 80 million I think. So that’s essentially a 2 year loan costing 10 million. Then either keep him for 30 million. Or let him go and make 40 million. Yes I agree Eldor wasn’t a good signing but that’s only one, the rest were either good value or direct necessary replacements.

Mourinho was unfairly sacked at Tottenham. He had Kane and Son on fire 🔥they were statistically the 2nd best duo of all time behind Mourinho's Lampard and Drogba link up. They beat Man United 6-1, became the 2nd fastest team behind Bayern to get 100 goals for the season and took them to a Carabao Cup final. I hope he succeeds at AS Roma.

To be honest, many people feel that Mourinho failed at Real Madrid. Although his time at Real Madrid is not a successful one and as a fan, I would never want him back, he actually did something very important in Real Madrid. He was against the best Barcelona Team of the Time which stopped him from getting a load of successes. At that time, beating Barcelona was a myth to many teams. But he instilled the idea inside the players that we can beat Barca and we have the capabilities. I still remember that in 2013, we defeated Barcelona with our B team. He had created a lot of issues in the squad but his squad set up actually helped Ancelotti to gain the La decima and we can never deny that. He was the first one to really break Barcelona's dominance. Statistically and trophy wise, there is very little success. But if you go deep, he really did something very important in Real Madrid and as a fan, I respect that.
People uses to think Guardiola as successful, but looking closely, he won his champions league a decade ago and with Prime Barcelona team. Then he managed teams like Bayern, Manchester City and spend a huge amount of money to build the squad. With all these resources, he only went to the final last year and thats the best achievement. I am not comparing Mourinho and Guadriola. I am just straightening up some facts.

You said that all very well. As a Spurs fan, and one who never liked Jose (still can’t believe he was coach at Spurs, whether for 18 days or the 18 or so months).
But you can’t deny his ability to win that one game that seems not possible. And use his defensive philosophy to dictate not only his team but the other team too, and have the game played the way he wants it (typically the slow & less exciting defensive tactics). This is why no matter how much we all wanted him gone, sacking right before the league cup Final v City & Pep, you just never know what could happen in any game, no matter how great one team is & the other how bad they are. Plus the Jose V Pep rivalry adding one more chapter, from when it started as you mentioned when at Madrid and beating the Dominate Barcelona teams.
And your right about Pep, which is why he will always have that criticism from all fans( except for Barca, Bayern, City). Whenever he is done at City, if he were to go to mid table team , or lower, in any league, and see how great his tactics work without buying the best players from all over the world. Pep is great, no doubt, but like coaches in any sport who only coach when they have best players, or ability to buy best players (this is true in NBA too), he will always have the one question mark about him, despite him going into Hall of Fame, or whatever honors he receives after his career, as one of greatest coaches!

not exactly...... I feel, that the fact that Barca was dominating spain(and also europe), is not necessarily because they had unbeatable squad....... I mean, they HAD truly amazing team, but one of the big factors why RM couldn't challenge them in bigger way, was because those years were also a transition years between generations for RM...... it was those years where RM started disolving the famous "galacticos" and started building "Ronaldo-era" of RM....... and during that "chaos", they obviously couldn't challenge such incredible Barca...... but as soon as RM formed a solid squad with desired players, they started catching up with Barca quite easily...... those last seasons of RM with Ronaldo, the team was just as good as any era of Real Madrid...... they won league and also UCL

Pity there isn't much attention paid to his tumultuous time at Real Madrid, which is arguably the biggest puzzle piece in explaining Jose's decline. Think Jose's time in England and Italy were mere prologues to his time in Real Madrid (the pinnacle of his managerial career) and his war with the club that rejected him for some young upstart named Pep. His magic was still evident at Madrid, and his 2010/2011 team was amongst his best and successfully drove Pep out of Barca (though Barca itself remained the premier football club of its era). However, to unseat prime Barca, he relied on scorched earth tactics that burnt both Barca and his own team's psyche out, and eventually led to him warring against Madrid icons like Iker Cassillas - thereafter, his hold over his players and his club slipped. Next, he returned to a Chelsea that saw him as their Shankly, and after 2 great seasons his belligerence - bred during his time in Madrid - caused him to begin warring against all those who wronged him, even Eva Caniero. No manager can maintain control over their dressing room for an extended period of time with a modus operandi predicated on managerial total war against all who wronged him. Once the wool has been pulled over everyone's eyes and players / supporters / media no longer worshipped every word he said, there was no turning back.

I do like the fact that you didn't fall into the typical mourinho bashing agenda and you actually was coherent and fair at the end.
Personally I think that Jose is definitely a genius of the game. A lone wolf who from the start wanted to set himself apart. He famously said in an interview " I don't belong to the football tribe. I love football but I'm not part of its tribe" That has been true from day one both in his succes and failures.
He also is one of the most fascinating sports figures to analyze. His mentality his career his amazing highs and some huge lows. I personally think that everything changed during the summer of 2015. People say he lost it. No. You don't go from best manager in the greatest league on earth to relegation within 5 months because the game has past you by
I think it was psychological. Fabregas publicly said the players abused of the thrust jose gave after that title and mourinho felt betrayed and became isolated and full of rage which led to the first game back of the new season and the Eva incident. From that moment he never looked happy again.
It should also be pointed out that mourinho was very close to his father. He would call him after every game for years and he died at around that time too. While he might never go back to his prime that lasted an amazing 12 years or so. He can definitely still do great things until the end of his career and I'm banking on a succes at Roma by a trophy and a very good 2nd season
    Anyway great video

He did well at Man U with a squad that had been a bit lackluster in quality and did well at spurs in getting them to a final, and he’s doing well at Roma with the the squad available to him and I do believe he will win a trophy with Roma this season and finish in the top 4

the problem with Jose is that he set the bar too high when he started as a coach. But if you think about it, even what he did at United and Spurs very few coaches can do, if any at all. a few trophies with Utd, 81 points with a shit squad etc, and with Spurs I truly believe he could've won the league or at least finished easily in the top 4 if he had a decent CB, not to mention he was on the brink of giving Spurs some silverware before getting that weird sacking. I think peoples levels of demanding when it comes to Jose are just too high, sometimes even unfair, but if you pay close attention, he was actually massively overachieving both at United and Spurs.

Also I don’t think he overachieved at all at united, he spent upwards of 350 mil in 3 years, never challenged for any meaningful trophy he did win two cups in year one but also simultaneously finished 6th in the league then in year 2 we got carried by our goalkeeper and in 18/19 he had to go because we were like 10th in the league. Also pretty much all of his signings were bad or lasted for a very very short time. So yeah he didn’t overachieve at all he underachieved considering the caliber of manager he was with the money he spent you would atleast expect a title challenge

@@princemarwin5182 have we all forgotten the shitty job Woodward was doing? This is a guy who gave Dalot, Fred and Lee Grant in a transfer window to Jose and asked him to win the league. I mean Mourinho definitely made a lot of mistakes, but to think he’s the one to blame for United not being able to compete with City it’s not true. And let’s face it, when he finished second with 81 points he had Phil Jones, Smalling, Valencia and Ashley Young in the back. You can’t really blame the coach for not winning the league with such squad. Meanwhile City was picking up 100 points and signing every player guardiola needed. I don’t think it was Jose who wasn’t capable of competing with City, but United’s board (and they still aren’t).

But no, he isn't done at the highest level. He can still do really well and win trophies, depending on the team and the time he is given. Jose Mourinho’s failure at Man U and Tottenham showed that the impact of football managers nowadays is largely dependent of those who run the club. In case of Klopp, it is the club’s full support that wins Liverpool trophies. Even when the ranking of the team did not look good, when he wanted one of the most expensive CB in history, Klopp and the club are on the same boat. In case of Pep, the support and authority that the club grant him have been truly phenomenal. The amount of cash poured into those transfers has been insane.
For Mourinho though, he seems to have lost that capacity of gaining the support. In Chelsea, the club was unaware of the aging defense line and bought in some trash defenders in his third season there. That was a mistake, but not an irreversible one. Nevertheless, he clicked the self destruction button. In Manchester United, no one in the club cares about playing good quality football, and there is no professionalism in the club. All the transfers were over priced and were presented to fans like a show. The mediocre players think themselves as CR7 or Messi. Although his team only got the second place in his second season, gaining 81points in the league has been a record for Man U in almost 10 years by now. So I actually think his achievements at Man U are pretty respectable, cause Man U after Sir Ferguson is a black hole, in which no one can possibly pull out great success. In Hotspurs, he just simply overestimated Levy’s ambition. Spurs is not ready to be a true big team yet. He was not heading toward the same goal that Levy wanted(titles vs top4 spot)

So when the players that can perform that for you no longer exist then you look worse as a manager. I can't find any reason why Mourinho wouldn't have Trent Arnold in is team. A style of playing doesn't become obsolete or deprecated just because, a style of playing keeps improving and it's adjusted to the opponent side, that's this basic understanding that made Morinho win with a defensive Inter side against an all powerful and all attacking Pep Guardiola's Barcelona, and then lead him to another Champions League title.

Think he needs to take a year or so off to reset. Then take over the Portuguese national team. The great game is better with him in it. Never been a more fun post game press conference than Jose, only Roy Keane comes close. And yes he was a big reason I fell in love with the game as well. Love him, hate him but you just can't deny his legacy. Well done Alfie !

Mourinho came to Madrid at one of the lowest points of their history. They had been eliminated from the knockout stage of the champions league about 6 years in a row. Often by teams like Lyon and Roma.
They were incapable of competing against Barcelona.
Mourinho transformed real Madrid. Alot of the success that the subsequent managers enjoyed, was due to the fact that he had laid the groundwork in fixing what was a severely broken team

Even in his "darker period" he did an amazing job at Manchester United achieving more than Ole Solskjær ever could, and with worse players and less resources. On Tottenham he had a great start, but it was evident that the peak performance of those players had been reached 2 seasons ago with the Champions League final, hope he has enough time to work in Roma to produce the results he deserves, I truly believe he still is one of the best managers of European football, and will prove it once again.

This video really understates his time in Madrid imo, they were unlucky not to achieve more and a league title over what many at the time already thought was the greatest team ever is an amazing achievement. Real Madrid was the peak of Mourinho's career in terms of on pitch ability and also of the infamous siege mentality. El Clasico grew so vitriolic during his stay in Spain that the captains of both sides felt it was detrimental to the brilliant Spanish national team who were at their peak during that time as well, and the likes of Casillas attempting to make amends between the two camps is also reportedly the beginning of his fallout with Mourinho. Inter's players cried when Mourinho left the club, they loved him, but despite how good Madrid were he left their dressing room a war zone and nearly forced out their legendary captain. He has never been the same since his sacking from Madrid, he took that bitterness with him to Chelsea once things started going downhill, lost most of his charm in the media and as you said has grown toxic towards his own players. The game has passed him by tactically and in terms of man-management which probably feeds into this behavior. Chelsea's home defeat against Simeone's Atlético in the 2014 CL semis really marks the end of his time as an elite manager in my eyes, he was out-done by a team in the same style and mentality that he used to be an expert in ten years before. He never again competed at the top level in Europe, even his league winning Chelsea team crashed out in the CL RO16 and the furthest he ever got with United was the RO16 against Sevilla.

Kane won Golden boot and had most assists.
Spurs were top of the league for a great part of the season.
CBs got injured and he got Joe Rodon from Championship as replacement.
Spurs were the second team to score 100 goals behind Bayern.
      Won trophies at Man United.
Roma just thrashed Lazio, made them go first half with zero shots on target.

    JOSE MOURINHO
    UNIÃO DE LEIRIA ⚪⭕🔴 2001➖2002
Mourinho coached União De Leiria 19 games and when in January(during the season) he signed for Porto Leiria were 4th in the table having the second most goals scored and 3rd least conceded.
PORTO 2002➖2004🔵⚪Replaced Machado as a coach in January 2002 when Porto was 5ft in league. In the remaining 15 games Porto scored more than anyone (35) and finished 3rd. In his first full season won Treble: the league with record number of points at the time,Taça de Portugal and UEFA cup. In 3rd season won Portuguese super cup, the league AND The Champions league WITH Porto😮❗6 trophies in 2 seasons
    CHELSEA 2004➖2008🔵🔵
In 1st season won the Premier league conceding only 15 goals(the least in Prem history) and losing only once( and it was just 1_0 to ManCity). In Champions league won 5➖4 vs Barcelona but lost to eventual winners Liverpool 1➖0 with a "ghost goal" for some people. 🔵In 2nd season won Community shield and league with 91 points conceding the least. In the CHL group lost once (the only game they conceded) lost to Barcelona 3-2 on aggregate and in fa cup lost to eventual champions Liverpool by 1 goal. 🔵In 3rd season won Fa Cup and league cup, finished 2nd conceding fewest goals in league(24)and losing the least matches, in CHL lost on penalties to Liverpool in Semifinals🔵In the start of 4th season left after disagreements with owner.
At Chelsea won 2 PL's, 2 League cup's, Fa cup and Fa Communityshield= 6 trophies.
    INTER 2008➖2010⚫🔵
First season won Supercoppa and Serie A but lost 2-0 on aggregate to ManU in CHL. In second season won TREBLE🏆🏆🏆. Also won against rivals AC Milan 4-0 and beat THAT Fc Barcelona side 3-2 to reach the final. Won 4 trophies in 2 seasons.
    REAL MADRID ⚪⚪2010➖2013
First season(2010➖2011) at Real Madrid finished 2nd( with 96 points)only 4 points behind the best team of all time(FcBarcelona) scoring 102 goals(the most), winning CopaDelRey. In Champions league unbeaten(only 2_2 draw vs Milan, the only game they conceded) in Groupstage and lost in semifinals against that Great Barcelona team. Second season(2011➖2012) won the league with 100 points and scoring 121 goals and losing only twice. In copa lost in quarter finals to Barcelona by only1 goal, won all group stage games in CHL but lost to Bayern on penalties in Semi-finals. In 3rd season(2012➖13) won supercopa vs Barcelona, finished second in league scoring 103 goals, lost the CDR final to Atletico and in CHL lost to Dortmund in Semifinals. Was unbeaten at home. Left after 3rd season after winning La liga,CDR and Supercopa=3 trophies
    Return to Chelsea🔵🔵 2013➖2016
Lost to Bayern Munchen on penalties in Supercup, lost the International champions cup final to Real Madrid CF finished 3rd in pl 4 points away from title having best defence(27 conceded), beating Arsenal 6-0 in PL, losing to ManCity in Fa Cup 5ft round and same round to Sunderland in League cup. In CHL lost to finalist Atletico Madrid in semifinals🔵In 2nd season won the Premier league and having best defence and losing the least. Won the Fa Cup, was unbeaten in CHL groupstage but losing to PSG in roundof16 after extratime goal🔵In 3rd season lost community shield final to Arsenal by 1 goal but after bad start in Premier League left. Won Premier league and League cup =2 trophies.
    Manchester United 🔴⚫2016➖2018
In first year won Europaleague, communityshield and efl cup. Was better team but Lost in fa cup vs Chelsea. Finished 6th having 2nd best defence(29 conceded) but 15 draws. 2nd season lost supercup to Real Madrid finished 2nd having 2nd best defence. Lost Fa cup final to Chelsea and surprisingly lost to Seville in CHL. 3rd season started really badly and he got sacked. In 3 season won 3 trophies.

    Tottenham⚪⚪
On 20th November 2019 Mourinho was appointed as the manager. Tottenham were 14th and winless in the past 5 games. Mourinho won his first 3 matches and managed to guide Spurs to 6th place. They lost on penalties to Norwich in the 5th round of FA cup. Mourinho managed to beat his old rival Guardiola (2-0) and Tottenham's local rivals Arsenal (2-1). Had the season started when Mourinho took over (12th Prem matchday) Tottenham would have finished 4th in 2019/20 season.

Mourinho's second season started with a 1-0 loss to Everton but after that Tottenham went on a 10 game unbeaten run (memorably beating Manchester United 6-1). At times it looked as Spurs could have challenged for the title but their form dropped. The whole season was marked with costly individual mistakes which costed many points. During the season fans criticized Mourinho for being too defensive. In the FA cup they lost to Everton 5-4 after dominating the game and playing attacking football. After that game Spurs went on a bad run of form which included them losing 3-0 to Dinamo Zagreb and being KO of the UEL. Mourinho was sacked on 19th April 2021 just days before the EFL Cup Final, which could have been Tottenham's first trophy in 13 years.

Mourinho's time at Tottenham was difficult as he wasn't able to get rid of those costly individual mistakes and some players weren't commited enough. Mourinho himself was often too defensive and that didn't help either. His time at Spurs could have been much better...

    AS Roma 🔴💛
    👀😉🔜
So 25 trophies won in 18 years
Also to those talking about how defensive he plays: NOBODY scored more goals than Porto over his 2 full seasons in charge there, his Inter were top scorers in SerieA in each of his 2 years in Italy, at La Liga his Madrid in 3 seasons scored more than Barcelona: 326 vs 324,scoring 100+ in EVERY of his 3 seasons there, in his first season at Chelsea they scored 14 more than ManU that season.
He's been in top3 every season as a manager (except in 2016/17 6th).
And also he deserves a little bit credit for those Champions leagues Real Madrid won later. They got important Experience in those 3 semifinals and only season after he left they won it. Before Mourinho had arrived they had reached quarters once in 7 years.

Jose says what he means and means what he says, so we see him as a villain with a siege mentality. No, he just doesn't butter things up - which is exactly how the rest of us should be. If Klopp was thinking what you think he was, about Karius, but said something completely different, that doesn't make him a better person than Mourinho, it makes him a dishonest man who'd rather save face than be truthful.
