    About Me:
Hi, I'm Louise! I started this channel in 2010 after readers of my blog (also called Sprinkle of Glitter) suggested I give UA-cam a try. I was instantly hooked and have found my internet playground on here. I make videos about beauty & fashion, positive living, motherhood, lifestyle and occasionally have special guests (friends, kittens or my sweet Daughters Darcy, 9 and Pearl, 3).
Hit the subscribe button to never miss a video again!
I chat every day on my other social media (linked above) so do come and say hi!
    Big hugs,

One of my favorite things to do with my oldest now that we don’t read together at night, is to pick a chapter book together that we will both read separately. It’s like reading a book together and we can talk about it. Also not much commitment or effort for me because it’s a much quicker read for me than it is for them.

Does anyone else who used to watch Louise's vlogs when she was pregnant with Darcy just feel so proud of her? You're raising such beautiful children and it's been an absolute delight seeing how far you've all come. Darcy is a whole child now and Pearl is talking in complete sentences! So proud of you. In my opinion, your homey vlogs are so much more honest than the ones where the person just goes all day. I don’t think what’s what people really do all day every day. I know I don’t, maybe we are the odd ones out but I don’t think so. Thank you for keeping it real if you will!!! 💕💕

Education student here: children who are read to every day before starting school have an average of one million more words in their vocabulary than those who are not read to! Reading to children is so important.

Being read to makes children aware of emphasis in speech, tone, and expression ( if you do all the voices etc...) plus vocabulary development, imagination ( what do you think will happen next?) and talking about the pictures/characters/plot. I regularly read to the nearly 6 year-old boy I nanny, it is one of our favourite things to do together. I also work on letter sounds with him and he is really keen to continue learning to read! As a child, it was definitely a quiet moment to bond with my mum, as with 3 younger siblings, there wasn’t much time during the day. Even when I was reading chapter books, sometimes she’d read me the first chapter to get me started!

If you're getting a trampoline I thoroughly recommend getting an area of the garden gravelled or barked to put the trampoline on. Otherwise you'll be forever moving the trampoline around the garden to save the grass underneath!

Reading is one of the most valuable things to do with your child. A child who reads or is read to for 20 minutes per day will learn over a million words per year. Whereas a child who only reads for 1 minute per day will be exposed to 8000 words (approx) per year.

Whenever I’m chatting with the children in my family I always ask them what they’re reading. They love reading and they’re all different ages so read such different things! My favourite is when they are reading something I read as a child because then we can have a chat that I think makes them feel like they aren’t the baby in the conversation but that they are a person who’s opinions are very welcome in the conversation!

As a teacher I can tell you that reading with your child makes such a huge difference to their learning. It helps with their vocabulary, phonics, their spelling, writing, comprehension and understanding. It also helps with their listening skills and idea generation too. Children in my class who have parents that read with them daily are much more confident with reading and spelling compared to those who either read alone, or don’t do it!

It's lovely hearing you talk about world book day. It is so important to me that every child owns a book and something interesting - when I went to confirm my daughter's birth at the register office in October, The Book Trust had a set up where every person got a canvas bag with 2 books and 2 card finger puppets with a relevant nursery rhyme on the back. I thought that was so brilliant and I don't know if it's the norm or if it's because the city and nearby towns are some of the poorest in the south of England. Either way it made me so happy to see. My step mil has very kindly bought my daughter 4 of the world book day books so we feel very lucky this year ☺️

Blaenau Ffestiniog is my fave place in the world!! Was a mining community I think so there's some really interesting ruins that make a lovely (fairly gentle) hike. There's also a zipwire in the hills now too :D you could actually board the train last time I went. And a fair few lovely village charity shops for treasure hunting 😀

I absolutely adore Pearl and her chicken....LOL. Loving how involved Darcy is in the vintage side hustle! I love seeing how you involve your girls in important lessons, but tailored to their age and stage of development :)

I just love all Pearls comments off camera, so cute ❤️. My kids might not have played with toys for years but as soon as I decide to donate them they are suddenly their favourites again haha.

Always love the homey vlogs. I love how you are with the girls. I agree that reading is so important at a young age. My mom read to me a lot and I read a lot as I was growing up. Loved seeing the natural waves in your hair...would love to see how curly it gets.

I love vintage jewellery and pretty bits and pieces.
When I was about 13 or 14, I was helping my neighbour buy some vintage charms and jewellery for her sister who is into vintage stuff and there were two bits that I really loved. One was a little cat brooch that had shiny colour bits on it and then the other was a spherical charm covered in sparkly multicoloured pastel gems. She bought them but I thought they were for her sister until my birthday came and she gave them to me. They're so sweet and I still have them in a box in my jewellery box.
I don't own much vintage stuff but I would love to buy some more stuff.

I have my eye on that train pin as we're Welsh and my grandfather is obsessed with trains (especially old Welsh trains). It would make such a fantastic gift for him 😍

Louise, I've been watching all of your old vlogs, namely the ones from when Pearl was born, as they comfort me. My baby boy has just turned 6 months, and new motherhood is lonely, so your videos make me feel less alone! It's so so lovely to have an up to date cosy homey vlog, it just feels like being on facetime to your best friend, is that weird? 😂 Hope you've had a fab weekend 💞

I read my first ever book because we got a free one on WBD at school. From then on I became an avid reader. I graduated in 2018 with a degree in English Literature and Creative Writing and am I currently writing my own novel. Such a worth while cause
