One of the many things that I love about the horror movie culture is that loyalty that fans have over the movies. The fact that one weird forgotten movie had been redescovered and rereleased because a guy's love for a song in it shows how comited the horror fans are. It's a sense os ownership that moves us as a comunity to infuse life in works of art that are sometimes lost in the obscure past. I don't see that happening with no other genere in cinema history. Anyways... horror is pure love!
God damn. I like hearing all the behind-the-scenes about the love and energy that goes into these movies, but the story about how it was resurrected and re-released was downright inspirational. It goes to show you that all it takes is one person with a little gumption to introduce your passion to a whole new generation of people. (And yes I realize the irony of saying that on a video channel that is literally one guy with some gumption introducing his passion to a whole new generation of people.)
Many 1980s horror movies been trying to lift up the franchises like Friday the 13th, Halloween, Chucky, Hellraiser, A Nightmare on Elm Street, the Thing and many more. The 1980s are the golden era of horror entertainment. Filmmakers can reached out their own potential in budget constraints, dialogue scripts, acting, stunt work, make up effects even the actors themselves doing their stunt work even music scores to give us chills. I hope in today's standards to bring back my 80s in horror and not too much of CGI or modern stuff altogether. Great vid as always, GoodBadFlicks. KEEP IT UP! 😁
My understanding is that Mark Frost reworked some of the ideas from his original scrip into 'Twin Peaks'. The concept of the lodges and some of the dream world stuff.
I love this movie, I remember getting the Republic Pictures VHS release with the "too explicit for the squeamish" line by Variety. The effects were great and fairly elaborate for a lower budget film. I love the pre-CGI face that comes out of the computer and that wild "meltdown" scene at the end with the lasers. The director knew it was gonna be hokey and over-acted but he didn't care and did a damn good job with it.
Thanks for the video Cecil! It was a pleasure working with you on this review. And thanks so much for the story of me getting Scared Stiff RE-released!
My partner and i have been fans of hers for years but lately we've just been binging her films non-stop. Crush feels like an understatement at this point. But i agree with the above comments. Age has been more than good to her and she was absolutely fabulous in Supernatural.
Great vid! I live in Florida and love the indie film scene here. Mary Page Keller also appeared in the sitcom Open House, where she played a Realtor. It would have been funny if she had tried to sell this haunted house in the show--"Um, this is a beautiful mansion and everything, but the icemaker on the fridge doesn't work and there's a small evil spirit in the attic!":)

Never heard of this one. Pigeons? There is nothing less scary than a pigeon. Makes me want to check it out more. Haha. Thanks for the video Cecil. No one gets more details on a film than you. Amazed every time.

@@GoodBadFlicks I’d strongly encourage you to drive engagement like subscriptions, likes, and comments to work the algorithm in your favour at the beginning of your videos. It’ll make a world of difference.
I just finished watching this and found it quite entertaining. It moves slowly but it's just under 85 minutes long so you don't really have enough time to get bored. You can tell while watching the movie that all involved were trying really hard to make a good movie, and it pays off in some solid atmosphere and good if a bit tiring jump scares
Nice exploration here, Cecil. I always appreciate the fact you give these efforts, and the passionate creators behind them, their just due. A couple of '80's comedies I've re-watched recently--Three O'Clock High and Better Off Dead--were crafted by a couple of passionate and creative directors, and their soundtracks (and supporting casts) are superb. Would love to see you explore one or both.
You have the best researched reviews (?) of films on the internet. Not a review really, just a slice of cinema history with an amazing amount of detail you dig up. I don't know how you do it.
A dedicated labor of love from a fan - which finally pays. That's why fans are so essential for genre movies. Fabulous tale of restauration, probably more interesting than the movie itself.
Your channel has quickly became one of my favorite channels! Thanks so much for the amazing content. I hope one day I’m able to pump out videos as awesome as yours!
I barely know this film, I think I recall the cover of the video, but never saw it. However, this was a super interesting dive into the history and the production of the movie. Super interesting, really enjoyed this episode :D

@@fallenwolf3368 Chill man, there was no malice in my comment. I was just making a joke because you presumably accidentally typed "complicated" instead of "complete" so I said hopefully you get your life figured out, like less complicated. Relax.
Blood simple is okay, although I watched it once with my mum whose comment was "This is the same as that thing in snow, just in the desert" and basically she is right, 'Fargo' and 'Blood Simple' are extremely similar.

When you're film lover--nothing will (can) stop you. This was a great piece.
I wonder if the pigeon scenes were inspired by Robert E. Howard' Pigeons From Hell, which has similar themes with a plantation and a curse.
You beat me to that comment by 1 year :D
Rad, never seen the movie but PFH is one of my favorite horror stories. I’ll check it out.
Literally was thinking the exact same thing. Also an awesome pulp era horror story.
That was adapted into a very good episode of Thriller (the Boris Karloff one.)

This genre goes way back. Look up any of the versions of Robert E. Howard's story about "Pigeons from Hell" to see/read a great Southern gothic.
