I am so thankful that I stumbled upon your channel. I am a writer, and I have five children. I have been working very hard to publish books through KDP that I have written under a pen name. I love this idea, and I am very motivated to get this going.
Hello Paul I am using your method for adventuring myself in this business. Well the first book for easter I make more money than for my other 3 fiction book ever just in sales in amazon. So I am giving a try is so easy to start for a business. Well I said easy, but not for lazy persons in average I create a book interior in about 4 hour. But the research is what actually takes 2 or 3 days to do. I giving myself a year to make it work!
Thank you for this information, Paul. I think for a lot of us it will be a lifesaver. I find it funny when you give us the figures because in my country the minimum wage is about 300 $. Never mind 2000 $, if I get 100 $ in sales, I will be more than happy.
Thanks so much Paul. You're so right - more people sit and tell us why it won't work. A relatively small group of us just get on with the job and some of us even enjoy it! I found using the vector software really difficult but after a couple of months of on and off attempts, I FINALLY got it!! I'll be smashing those colouring books and everything else out now. My dot graph paper notebook was one of my first to sell (Woohoo!) as I practised the whole process. This is flippin' fun! Cheers much and welcome to Oz from a Kiwi who's been lucky enough to nip back to NZ from Melbourne for a reprieve :-)
Totally agree. It’s a learning process you have to go through. Glad you’re having success and finally getting to grips with vector software. Once it starts to click everything becomes a lot easier. Enjoy NZ!

Australia? Wow! Enjoy your time there, it is on my bucket list, that is for sure. 😊 Thank you for this video Paul. It really drives home the idea that you really don't have to re-invent the wheel, just make yours stand out a bit more. It takes me back to the basics. I need to up my game and I've learned a lot in the last year (mostly from you and Rory) about design and marketing and now I have much better tools than I did back then. I feel every bit of information you provide is helpful so thank you for taking the time to make this wonderful reminder video. Best of luck in Australia! 😊👍
I have 26 books published on kdp within the last three years. Most are adult coloring books (300-400 sales a month), my best selling books are my two "The office" books (100-150 per month)
This is hilarious Ive never heard of this being mentioned as something to try but its so smart. Ive drop shipped on etsy before and the biggest thing I learned was the value and influence of spending money on aggressive amounts of advertising to beat the competition for the impulse purchasing customers.
I think it's best to get into this is a hobby and see any income from them as a nice extra. If you go into this, for instance, expecting it's going to replace your main source of income then you might quickly be disappointed. It's a long term game
Or you can focus on publishing as many different types of books as you can come up with. Or, of course, make this just one of several income streams. I don’t ever look at a business as a hobby. That means you’re not very serious about it..
As an artist and someone who's done publishing for 14 years, I would never purchase a sketch book that KDP printed. That's a good way to get tons of bad reviews on your product as the paper quality will not stack up to art paper.
Good luck down under. Hope your quarantine isn’t too dreadful! Thanks for your videos. I found them a couple of weeks ago and have made 7 books, getting better each time.
Congratulations on your move. I hope you're comfortable in your hotel, and this pandemic is soon over, so you can enjoy living in Australia. Another super video! Thanks.

@@paulmarles Paul could you please suggest any website which could help me in choosing colour combination while making Book cover designs. I find it difficult to choose proper contrasting colours.
I have uploaded about 50 books. The first ones with no content, and not really that pretty. Hi Paul, although I am behind watching this video, it did help me as a newbie find some new book ideas, that I think are viable. I tried my hands on with the Graph paper and uploaded it last night! 1 down, 9 to go! :-) Although I am skeptical about the Sketch Book. Thank you. BTW, all the best on your home in Australia.

Hi Paul, Perhaps I am just having a Blonde Moment but I could sure use a video on how you are setting up your Keywords Everywhere and the AMZ ap to get that great dropdown you show when you are searching Amazon. Also how to make sure you are not wasting the Keywords Everywhere credits. I put it in & am down 260 credits trying to see how it works. (I was down 12 my first click, so...) Sure it is only $10, but would be nice to see the results you are seeing when following along. Just a thought. Have a great weekend and thanks for all you do.
Thanks captain for this video:) Hope you would be completing your quarantine very soon safely.Your words motivate me always. I published my first no content book after following your video and my book has gone live now. However, in other competitors pages, I see that they show the front and back cover displayed. Coud you please guide me on how to upload the front and the back cover so that both the images get displayed when my book goes live. Can we upload both the front and back cover one after the other and both will get displayed when the book goes live or is there any other way I could do this? Would highly appreciate a reply from you on this as this will be extremely helpful for a beginner like me. Thanks in advance!
I really like all these specific niches... but wonder how one can really compete against a better form of bookbinding that Amazon doesn't offer to self-publishers on their platform. Been racking my brains how to get around this. Contacted a few self-publishing platforms, none does spiral or perforated or punched. I've read comments on the various paper types (hexagon/dot/isometric/etc) for research purposes. Seems they all need a robust book - almost hard cover and the ability to tear the page out easily afterwards for University purposes.
Hi Paul! Thanks for your teachings! I would like to know, but if i create no content books in different niches, can i use the same pen name or do l have to change it depending on the niche? Thanks!

Good suggestion. You can just switch the plugin off when not doing relevant rsearch.
Thanks captain for this video:) Hope you would be completing your quarantine
very soon safely.Your words motivate me always.
The front and back cover should appear automatically.
Welcome to Australia!! I’m sure you’ll love it here. Thanks for your wonderful videos - I’m new to this, and you’re very inspiring 😊😊
Thank you and thank you for watching.
Hey, Paul !!...If I use Veckteezy free graphics...We have to give attribution and how to give attribution in amazon ?
Yes, that's what it says in the license agreement. You write it somewhere in the book.
@@paulmarles you mean in the interior ? or cover page ?
I really like all these specific niches... but wonder how one can really compete against a better form of bookbinding that Amazon doesn't offer to self-publishers on their platform. Been racking my brains how to get around this. Contacted a few self-publishing platforms, none does spiral or perforated or punched. I've read comments on the various paper types (hexagon/dot/isometric/etc) for research purposes. Seems they all need a robust book - almost hard cover and the ability to tear the page out easily afterwards for University purposes.
KDP books make sales so they compete very well.
I love your videos.
Thank you.
Your videos are perfect.
Thank you 🙏
What is the best way to research keywords within a general niche?
Than you for this wonderful video
You’re welcome.
Hi Paul! Thanks for your teachings! I would like to know, but if i create no content books in different niches, can i use the same pen name or do l have to change it depending on the niche? Thanks!
No, you can keep the same pen name.
Great video! How many realistically is a good amount of quality books to have and how much could I expect in royalties per month?
Impossible to answer.
That all depends...
Thank you Paul!
You’re welcome.
