In tekken 9, I would love to see a new mechanic introduced: A very frame perfect input that allows you to break out of someone's combo chain such as a mid air deflect. Yes long combos are great, but the only thing I don't like about Tekken8 is that an effectively high level player can be removed from an entire round if the perfect combo presents itself. This would help prevent high level players from using combos as a crutch, if the opponent could theoretically break out of the sequence at any time.
First, also Eagle, would you say wave dashing is necessary for Reina. I'm really bad at it and trying to get better. I'm currently flame ruler. Thanks for all the help.
When I watch your gameplay I'm amazed on how you just make the right decision in a situation. I can do everything in her kit optimally, but it feels like you just always have a good read on your opponent, and know the exact counter play to do at any moment.
to your first question, it depends on how defensive your opponent is playing. there's no point wavedashing if your opponent is pressing a lot of the time. i generally only use wave dash to threaten hellsweep 50/50's. so if they're playing ultra defensively, i use wavedash to get them to duck and press into me so i can bait them to duck or press early and then whiff punish ect as for the counter play you're talking about, can you give me a specific example of one? then i can give you the reasons why i do certain things.
Imo wavedash to approach to apply your normal pressure its not necessary for reina since ff2 is already a approach tool by it self especially if your not comfortable wavedashing. Wavedashing mostly used catching techrolls since it tracks like kazuya dvj players reina also has a wavedash 50/50 in oki FDFA position from landing a 12f punish 2,2,1 and 1+2 you can also do it after sentai grab, magic 4 i think. oki would be wd into fc df4 or hellsweep You also do that against ss but you have that very very fast
@@idleeaglebest example I can say is it seems you always know when to go into DF4. Like I’ve gotten better at it after your advice and it’s lead to me winning. But your timing on it is superb. Like I don’t think an opponent blocked it once in this video. And the kazuya only hit you with an over head once when you were trying to do it.
some of them are reads but alot of those are setups from safe mids and highs if they aren't ducking them. alot of people try to jab check after safe mids or highs, or a common thing in those ranks is df1 into jab. obviously it depends on your opponent. try to watch for patterns in your opponent doing mini flowcharts, like df1 into jab, things like that

Congrats
Watching you made me realize I don’t do down forward 4 enough for ducking highs and on low block I always use WR 1
You’re really good at ducking under highs and punishing 😮
