      You can cut the cooking time down a bit by cooking in a microwave at max power for 15 minutes then cooking 90 min - 2 hrs at 60%. Pre soaking helps and you can do it overnight no hassle.

    How to tell bad Black Beans:
    1. Take out any that look like dry "Raisins".
    2. Take out any looks "Brown".
    3. Take out any that "Float" in water.
    4. Take out any that is "Broken or Halves". They will produce more starch when cooked. It will make other beans looks like in muddy water.

    Just a quick tip If you use hot water. Put the pot in the sink. Fill measuring cup just under the desired line. Dump water into pot, at the same time extra water is still flowing from the tap into the pot. I'm frugal and it teaches my son that every little bit matters.

    Hi hi! Unless you have a separate kitchen tap dedicated to producing consumable hot water it is not safe to cook with the water from your hot tap. The hot water tank and pipes leach metals etc. that are not safe for consumption. Far safer to start your pot with cold water and bring to a boil or boil a kettle of water for cooking use.

  • @vetgarry2004
    @vetgarry2004 3 роки тому +11

    Instead of boiling them for up to 2 hours I put them in my pressure cooker and once it's hot it won't need more than 7 or 8 min cooking 😁
    I do that with all my dried beans
    First pour boiling water over them, let them stand for about 1 hour, then cook them in the pressure cooker for 6-8 min
    Simple 😁

      Put in water for 24 hours, then cook for 30 minutes at a boil. Let it cool down to room temperature, add more water and recook for another 1 hour at low-boil. No rising need, as a lot of flavors are in that original water. The longer the second boil is, the softer they'll get.

      sometimes its good for the pipes to get a bit of a wash. prevents having to waste all the electricity clearing crap out of the pipes. Conservation of mass states that the water will not disappear after it has gone down the drain, but its still cheaper to let a little hot water clean crap out of the pipes than to try to have the plumber do it, energetically as well as financially.
