the reason why she didn't chat at all was because she was a ps3 player and she didn't have a keyboard set up connected to the console to be able to type out the words which was why she remained as a emote-communicator for the most part. When Heavensward came she likely was able to get herself a keyboard or that she converted over to PC hence that "Welcome back" being her literal first words in the game.
I have watched this a few times, and I always tear up.
"Welcome back" killed me. I was trying to keep it together but that broke me.

This video really got me. I'm a long-time FF14 player, pretty much the moment it launched on Playstation 3 and this video really just took me to my days as a sprout. Because I was incredibly shy and did start as a healer. I went through a couple of FCs, both who started off well, but ended up turning out to be fairly toxic and awful. I eventually made a new one with some IRL friends and we welcomed in people we got along with and knew would mesh with us. As a friend group who are pretty much all LGBT in some way or another, it was important to us to maintain a good and welcoming environment where people felt safe. So having finally found that after dealing with ones that just didn't pan out. I don't know. This just hit close to home in a lot of ways.

@@kwistyyFFXIV Me too! We started playing together around Heavensward I believe (might have been between Heavensward and Stormblood) and we formed our own FC in 2020 and we still all play together. So really does feel like I've found the ride or die group.
I just wanted to watch a little video with my food. Now it's full of salt and tears. Thanks! Haha!
