When I first fought Ravus, I thought:
"Dammit, I liked that guy."
More than anything, Ravus just wanted to keep his sister safe. Poor guy.

Understandable though.
I love the Ravus boss fight because it shows the process of people becoming daemon. I think it is also the turning point in which the boys realize that daemons really are people and what was going on in Niflheim was wrong. I think it also shows that Ardyn has the power to create the most horrific things out of even the most powerful people. It really is just the switch flipping and the boys realizing "This is what will happen if we do not stop him."
The "Ravus Aeterna" track has the theme Luna sang before she died and it's just heartbreaking :"(

The first time I played through this fight, I didn't really feel anything. But I have to say it's incredibly heartbreaking when you add the context of Episode Ignis. After losing Lunafreya, Ravus had nothing left. And in the end, he tried to do the right thing but got deceived and cut down by Ardyn, then transformed into this monster with nothing to do but beg for death. Such a tragic character who deserved more screentime.
Ignis is such a bro! Blinded yet keeps fighting to the end. Compared to how things were in episode Ignis, he did not have to see how Ravus turned out...
After watch Ravus' cutscene added in the update it makes his story and fate here even more tragic.
I wonder if anyone else noticed that Prompto keeps saying "All in bullet time, baby". It's the same line he uses when he switches place with Ardyn during the chapter 11 fighting sequence. As I recall, he typically says "Oh hi there, opening !" when using the piercer ability in normal circumstances.

Ravus was not the best human out there, but he doesn't deserved to be transformed into a Daemon and be killed...
The interesting part of this is that this battle resembles a lot to the one with Cie'th Snow in Lightning Returns :'O

I mean, it's because of the fact he's infected by the Starscourge. He certainly wants to die and to not suffer by hurting the people he had just sworn to protect for his sister's sake, but I'm also sure it's not pleasant being a Daemon either... The Bestiary states "...he manages to suppress his more sinister urges." Imagine if he had still been the enemy...

It’s crazy how popular over the years Ravus has gotten.
It’s not crazy. If you learned about his history and played episode ignis he definitely deserved it. Poor guy got suffered so bad in every single moment of his life and even after his death when all he wanted to do was protect his sister. He definitely needed more screentime.
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one, I imagine episode Ignis had a lot to do with it
All he wanted was to see his only family safe... all he wanted was for her to be happy... he wasn't going about it in the best way but his heart was in the right place. 5 years later it still pisses me off what Ardyn did to him.

I know it was very fucking sad but overall this game is one of the top final fantasies out there.
Jordan Aponte yes this game was/is so nice. The best thing in this game are the Characters. The only thing I don't like is the ending.

THIS WAS SO SAD!! I felt so bad for poor Ravus. I lost this fight miserably the first two or three times but then I ABSOLUTELY BOSSED IT and hardly got hit. To win all you have to do is use Daggers(because those are crazy quick). Remember to memorize his attacks so that you know exactly when to dodge. Whenever he is charging up an explosion or a crazy strong attack you must 'point warp' to a different spot. Once he is finished attacking you should 'warp attack' at him and then go crazy. So just keep repeating this insane strategy and you will complete this boss fight easily. I mean.. I did.
This dude reminds me of the Zangetsu/hollow form in the Arrancar arc in Bleach.

Damn! While becoming a demon Ravus learned some techniques from Vergil. Judgement Cut for example.
And then there’s Cor. Who’s basically just Vergil but voiced by Matt Mercer.
I don't want to admit it, but it took me like 2 or 3 months to beat Ravus. Mostly because he was so hard the first few times I fought him that I refused to play the game.
No shame in that man. Took me ages. 👍

I really love that they tried to mix this battle soundtrack with Luna's theme. The tragedy encourages you to fight harder against Ravus.

When i first fought this guy, i accidentally one shotted him with the ring black hole thing and i freaked because i never used it before and it could kill even bosses instantly. I didnt even get to see what the fight was like cause i insta killed him.
i like how Ravus move,that animation make me feel creepy more than Titan or Leviathan and Ifrit

The music totally sold this battle for me... something about it was just so epic. Probably the bass filled beat
i was 10 levels under him it took me litraly a hour to kill him all i can say is FUCK THIS FIGHT FUCK THIS FIGHT FUCK THIS FIGHT!
SAME OH MY GOD it was awesome but took me about 30 minutes. I thought he was just meant to be really hard to beat 😂
FFXV was great and unique. I liked it even more than FFVII Remake. I enjoyed the battles more and even if some complain about the character designs, the scenes in the games are still less cliché than FFVII Remake which made me laugh a lot, specially near the end. The armiger and warps looked cool and were fun to do. The soundtrack was amazing. I liked the mix of old medieval, western and modern horror near the end of the game. In fact, I liked it as much as FFXII, and found that even if it has a few flaws compared to FFXII which was almost perfect, it's a more emotional and personal take on Final Fantasy. For me, it's a great late FF game.
Final Fantasy 15 became my favorite and after finishing FF7 in 1998, I never thought that a game will ever come close to it but I have to admit that altough all its flaws, messy story telling and general poor Implementation, the Lore and the music, the villain in Ardyn and the general story is second to none. This couldve been officially the best FF ever made if it werent for its poor implementation. For me, while having to scrap parts of the lore myself, a job the devs should have done, its still the best FF ever made. I favor Lore, characters and music over gameplay , Graphics or anything else.

I honestly really hate how this game made me hate Ravus so much.
It’s not like he was ever a villain, or even a bad guy, he just wanted to protect his sister by any means.
To first basically find him seemingly dead, just for him to be made an enemy out of because of the scourge like this.
I remember my first time playing the game, I genuinely didn’t want to kill him. I kept warp pointing around hoping the game would pull an “aha you thought” moment, but that never came.
I genuinely still feel bad about having to kill him.
But....sadly enough, I guess at the beginning of the scene, whatever semblance of humanity he still had left asked for it, so I guess this is doing him a favor.
He looked as if he wouldve turned into a judge....
the location reminds me of where you meet PD-4 in The Bouncer.

I can't be the only one who thinks this form of Ravus shares some aspects to the General in Kingsglaive, right? The General's armor kinda has that gooey metalic look like Ravus' demon parts but way more refined. Deamon armor confirmed?

Oh yeah haha i agree there XD. It's just weird when you go back and watch Kingsglaive and see the daemon-ish glows in his armor. Sort of makes you think as to how the armor makes him so strong.
I just noticed that when you're using that royal arm, you didn't lose as much health. Do you have some kind of accessory on that takes less health or something?

Just fought this boss and forgot to reload my weapons, noctis had low hp and I couldn't figure out why, thought he used some curse on me....... I find it interesting how Ravus has enough awareness to curse ardyn yet can't control himself anymore

I just about managed to beat him at level 34. It was super intense and all my team-mates were down. Luckily had a few Elixirs on me. I still think the Fire Boss was the hardest.

Don’t know how or why I did this at lvl 28 but as soon as I saw his arm gone I knew that something was coming up I played a lot of games were some ones arm is gone and they turned into I don’t want to say monster or freak but I can’t think of another word

With a far shittier combat system. If they took the combat system from XII and implemented it in XV, and replaced the whiny bitch Prompto and the hen mother Ignio with female party members, this might've been my favourite FF of all time.

Just cause you can't get females in real life doesn't mean you have to bash a game for not giving you some in return, having a free reigned combat system is great cause turn based games are washed out, and also update after update they're adding more to it, so don't be a "whiny bitch" and accept the fact that games change, stick to the old pixelated final fantasys if this one isn't your forte

It was all basically an act as far as towards the end. But when he first meets you , the very first things he sees is an ignorant prince that is willingly sacrificing Ravus' own sister for a chance to restore the world. To Ravus Lunafreya is his world. He literally had his homeland and his mother ripped away by Niflheim and so he wanted the power of kings to rectify a mistake he believed Regis had done: forsaking his mother and his kingdom in an effort to save Noctis and his own hide. He believed it unforgivable. It isn't until we see him with Luna and the ring does he actually bury that particular hatchet and tell his sister to give her betrothed the ring. He then goes on to trying to give the sword to Noctis firsthand it's a shame he never lived to do so. I would've loved the exchange.
