I was lucky enough to see them live in 1982 when they were touring in support of the Screaming for Vengeance album. They were excellent. One of, if not the loudest concerts I ever went to. Had tinnitus the next day, all day
I didn't get to see them until like 2000's. First time was with Ripper, 2nd time was with Rob. Anthrax was the opener both times (they wore the suits announcing they weren't changing their name during the Anthrax attacks here in the USA). First time with John Bush (my favorite), 2nd with Joey Belladonna (I am a fan of his years too, just prefer Bush).
I recorded the “Judas Priest Live” (now known as "Live Vengeance '82") concert on VHS when it first aired on MTV. I lost count the number of times I watched it. I went to see the Priest/Maiden/Axe show in St. Louis in ‘82, and it’s impact on me was seismic. An amazing concert. Still one of my favorites I’ve ever attended. You two have quickly become my favorite song reactors on YT. You’re both incredibly genuine, and your song selection is very cool. Keep up the great work! Cheers 🤟
Oh man we used to watch this concert almost every weekend in my final high school year (almost 15 years ago now). Me and my friend know every single note, word and Robs gestures. 😅 Thanks for bringing back those memories! Greetings from Norway.
I saw them on these tours... Defenders of the Faith Ram It Down Angel of Retribution My little brother put his Sad Wings of Destiny tape in my car stereo and ff it to Victim of Changes. That was my first time hearing Judas Priest and I loved that sound. Since Rocka Rolla, you can feel their evolution with each of their following albums. If you watch other Judas Priest concert videos, you'll notice Ian Hill keeps himself out of the spotlight by playing in the back. Rob, KK, and Glenn are the front row of and garner the majority of the attention being a band that's heavy with guitars and vocals.
Greatness! One of the best shows I ever saw in 1982 or 1983. Judas Priest on their Screaming for Vengeance tour with Iron Maiden opening up who just released Number of the Beast, very shortly before they were headliners.
Screaming for Vengeance was my first Judas Priest album that I found Priest with - 1982. The 80's the best decade for metal! Thanks Nick. Judas Priest AT THE TIME were: Rob Halford - vocals Glenn Tipton - Guitars K.K. Downing - Guitars Ian Hill - Bass Dave Holland - Drums
Iron Maiden opened for Priest and Priest opened with this song back in "82" the cost for the ticket was $8.95 at 13 i had to cut 3 lawns to buy the ticket and man it was so worth it Rob Halford is Legend
@lancerx1759 saw the same "82" show in Pittsburgh. Still the loudest show I've been to and I've been fortunate to see a lot of concerts including Priest this past April (for the 9th time)
I saw this tour in Portland in 1982. 40 years later and it's still perhaps the greatest concert I've ever seen. Screaming For Vengeance is Judas Priest at their absolute peak in my opinion.
The guy that took me to the prom called me, "Killer Kelly" because I loved Judas Priest. Hahaha! 🤣 Brings me right back. Love all your reaction videos. 👍🏻 💜💫✌🏼🎵
I was exactly the right age when this came out - Screaming for Vengeance was on my turntable for weeks! We didn't really have video for this, but MTV for the rescue! I was still too young to go see them on the tour, and no way were my parents going to take me for obvious reasons. But good memories all around!
Judas Priest has a lot of great albums. One of my favorite earlier albums from them is "Hell Bent For Leather". If you have a chance, please react to one or more songs from that album.
On "Screaming for Vengeance", the songs "The Hellion" and "Electric Eye" are tracks 1 and 2. So whenever I try to get someone to hear it, I have to tell them they have to play both because they're really one song. The Hellion being the intro. Electric Eye is based on the George Orwell book "1984". Big Brother watching. I first heard it through this exact same performance. It was played on... I want to say MTV's Headbanger's Ball, if not something similar. The intro is what really pulled me in. It's still one of my favorite album intros. I've always been a bigger Iron Maiden fan than Priest fan but I'm a fan of theirs, too. What a year 1982 was, though I was only 3 or 4, so I wasn't aware of Metal. But that year, Priest put out Screaming for Vengeance, Iron Maiden put out The Number of the Beast, debuting new singer Bruce Dickinson. Imagine seeing them on the same ticket, because they toured together that year.
I did see them together, twice, I can still remember the ringing in my ears for 2 days after, we laughed about it for days, those were such good times...
Oh Orwell was prophetic, great author. I like this song and I'm glad I read your comment. Because I never had any notion of the song's subject. Classic NWOBHM (New wave of British heavy metal)
Yes - they did play this on MTV. I was a HUGE fan back in those days and when this came on, one of my friends (who had MTV and a "large screen" TV (rear projection) invited me to come over and watch it. Good times!
I saw both Judas Priest and Iron Maiden in 1982. Iron Maiden was still an opening act at that time and it was their first tour with Bruce Dickinson. I sat fourth row dead center and Maiden was incredible.
I saw this tour when they came to Toronto Canada. Live, they are incredible. It was the loudest show I ever experienced. My ears sustained permanent damage and they rang for two weeks but it was totally worth it.
I saw Judas Priest and Iron Maiden way back in '81 at the Orpheum Theater in Boston...my ears were ringing for days afterward :)...also saw Priest on the "Screaming for Vengeance tour about a year later and they opened with this
The 1970 Judas priest albums are the best. In my opinion of course. Stained Class and Sad Wings of Destiny being the top. followed by Sin after Sin and Hell Bent for Leather.
THIS was how I was introduced to the band as well. I have watched this concert probably in the 1000s of times now...I watch it every year at least once or twice 🤘
Cannot believe they are not in the rock n roll hall of fame. Again nominated this year currently trailing most of the other artists nominated including Dolly Parton who doesn’t want the nomination. What a shame.
One of the Few Bands I haven't Seen in Concert. My first Video I seen from you two, I like what I see so Far. Keep up the good work. Next priest Song Should Be Painkiller.
The line-up from 1980 to 1989 was: Rob Halford (vocals), Glenn Tipton & K.K. Downing (guitars), Ian Hill (bass) and (the late) Dave Holland (drums) ...Prior to that, they changed quite a few drummers - Les Binks (1978 - 1979), Alan Moore (1976 -1977), and John Hinch (1974 - 1975) on the 1st Priest album 'Rocka rolla'... Simon Phillips played drums on their 1977 record 'Sin after sin', but never joined the band. This concert video 'Live Vengeance' captured Judas Priest at a peak in 1982... The next video from 1986 was 'Priest live!' which was great, but the band was touring on the 'Turbo' album, which was a bit commercial... but still an incredible performance in their 80's heyday. After the tour for the 'Painkiller' album in 1990, Rob Halford left the band in 1992... Judas Priest returned in 1997 w/ 'Painkiller' drummer Scott Travis and new singer Tim 'Ripper' Owens. Priest released 1 concert video in 2002 - 'Live in London'... which was another great performance, but very different from the Halford years... Owens gave Priest a visceral edge that Halford did not have. Plus, Owens did a great job singing the 'Painkiller' songs and the Priest classics. Unfortunately, fans wanted Halford back... so that happened finally in 2004. Judas Priest's reunited line-up of Halford/ Tipton/ Downing/ Hill/ Travis, released the concert DVD 'Rising in the East' in 2007... and a 30th anniversary edition of 'British steel' was released in 2010 w/ a concert DVD filmed in 2009, featuring the entire 'British Steel' album performed live. It was the last to feature Guitarist K.K. Downing. The last 2 releases were the 'Epitaph' DVD, which featured new guitarist Ritchie Faulkner... Another DVD 'Battle cry' was released in 2016, filmed at Wacken.
We always pronounced it Hell-ee-un. Regardless, kudos for attaching this to Electric Eye. Some reviewers do not. Title track Screaming for Vengeance is just killer.
@@NicknLex - it was rescheduled twice - once because of Covid and then again back in September when Ritchie Faulkner suffered a ruptured aorta. I bought my tickets originally in February of 2020.
My very first concert was JP in 1977. It was the sin after sin tour. Mind blowing for a 15 year old. Also they started there leather craze in 79 during there hell bent for leather tour.
This number really gets the blood flowing. I was head banging and bouncing around. That's some real RAWK! I don't listen to metal very often, but this hit the spot for sure. Thanks. 🤪😃
.I love your story and I love Judas Priest live. I remember hearing JP for the first time late in 79 when their Unleashed in the east album came out. I didn't hear it on my everyday radio station but on RTL - Radio Tele Luxemburg, they had installed a new show, Monday night - Peter's rock night - they played the hard rock, that I didn't hear on the other station and I learned a lot about new bands. I had to buy Priest live right away and listened to it over and over again, just a single LP and not one weak track on it. And the highlight in the very end - Tyrant - this power, this energy, these guitars, still listen to it nowadays. Unfortunately they couldn't transport this into the next studio albums one by one. But still British steel and the other ones are good albums. Always followed them, even when Tim "Ripper" Owens was the singer, and I like his live appearance, too. Finally in 2011 I saw Priest live in WACKEN. What can I say, great show, some kind of best of setlist. I wished I would have seen the younger Priest live.
Yes sir that was one kickass show. I was lucky enough to be at that very show......Memphis Tennessee at the Greatest place to see a show The Mid South Coliseum. I seen some of the best Metal Bands at that place wow what memories.
The bass player is Ian Hill who I often see shopping with his wife and children in our hometown shopping centre. The drummer is Dave Holland. Note: Dave Holland is formerly of the other hometown band TRAPEZE (check them out) Trapeze were a three piece who were so good that when they split, the three members joined Whitesnake, Deep Purple and Judas Priest. There are a few Trapeze videos on UA-cam. These guys put funk into rock LONG before The Red Hot Chili Peppers. #nicknlexrequest
the new guitarist Richie Faulkner actually had an aortic dissection (usually a fatal rupture of the main artery to the heart) while playing painkiller in their performance last year he finished the song and then went to the hospital for 10 hours of open heart surgery. that is insane, and Rob can still rock
The Metal Gods - first saw them in 1981 on their Point of Entry tour, with the mighty Accept supporting 🤘 First time I heard Priest was 1980 when a mate bought Unleashed in the East, and like you I was instantly hooked 🤘🤘🤘
I’m taking my son to see Judas Priest on March 25, they are his favorite band, also recently took him to see Metallica … I’m personally more into jazz, fusion, funk, but anytime I get a chance to see/hear great musicians/artist I’m excited … looking forward to taking my son this week … 👍
I saw this tour in Worcester, MA in 1983, we were in the 3rd row and counted 36 Marshall double stacks on 2 levels of the stage and this does not account for Ian Hill's giant Bass boxes. We, for one of the few times in our lives, were somewhat intimidated when they first turned the amps on, but once they started, the volume though extreme, was Clean with no unwanted distortion other than what the band was dishing out. They were immaculate that night, as they were the other ten or so times we saw them. For my group of rock fans in the 1970s, the best heavy metal band was and always will be the first, true metal band, Black Sabbatch. After them are the usual suspects in the order of personal prefference, rank them as you please for the top 5: Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Metallica and Motorhead, head bangers all. Next for Priest try the live Sinner from back in the 70s or 80s, it will be felt down to your toes! Enjoy and Rock On. 🎸
Drop “Painkiller” on her now. Make sure it’s the official vid. Crazy guitar solos, and the riff !! Make sure you both have spare heads because your minds will be blown.
I loved the fans response to Rob coming out, it was basically Rob says "I'm gay" and the fans said "that's cool, can you play painkiller next?" we didn't care he was and still is the metal god!
If Lexi's never heard it, she has to react to my favorite Priest song. I'll give you a hint what song it is, and if you can't figure out my not so subtle hint you got another thing coming. ;)
Little did they know when they made this song that it basically was going to define the world for decades to come. Nothing is private anymore. Nothing!!!
In the 80’s I loved a lot of bands, but Iron Maiden and Judas Priest were right at the top of the list. You are right - if you love Maiden, you love Priest. Well it worked for me anyway. Enjoyed the reaction guys.
Completely agree, flip of the coin between Maiden and Priest, we always looked at them as equals once Bruce joined Maiden. Great choice my dear, you guys rock!
For me the first time I hear a judas priest song was in Fm radio when internet wasn't a thing. I was not completely ready for the sound, but kind of liked it more than disliked it. Later on, I got into heavier and heavier bands and I rediscovered them. And then they sounded great to me.
If you haven't done it yet, its the same for "Scorpions", I didn't care for the years after "Animal Magnetism", and then discovered the previous years with "Uli Jon Roth", a totally different Scorpions.
@@mvunit3 Taken by force is the Scorpions album with the biggest variety, the first one I heard, when a school mate gave me the album ..loved it from first turn ... still got some of my favourite Scorpions songs and saw them live on the Animal Magnetism Tour - my first real hard rock/metal concert - my poor ears - :-)
Nice, Nick! I was into "Screaming for Vengeance" then Van Halen, then Metheny and Holdsworth as I got a little older... then Steely Dan... now Snarky Puppy! It's so fun to go back and look at what I liked as a teenager and realize they're all top-notch musicians. It's a shame that you haven't watched anything from Snarky Puppy that showcases their guitarists! Mark Lettieri is amazing, he can shred when he wants to, he can play jazz chords when he wants to... love how he's wearing a Guns N Roses t-shirt and Mike League is wearing a Police shirt in this one! (I've never seen them play this one live, so I think you're safe if you want to watch it.) (Mark lets loose at around 6:30) :) ua-cam.com/video/67PMG2nVs4k/v-deo.html
Never heard em before... not a metal fan. I'm a classic rock fan. Yet, this band has attitude and the music gets your heart pumping. They rock. I could listen to them in the car.... unlike Saga.
Great choice. Once I made a metal compilation and this song along with Sabbaths Neon Knights(live from live evil), Maidens number of the beast(from live after death), Motorheads ace of spades etc.
Truly some of the greatest metal lyrics ever written. And prescient too. The Surveillance State is upon us. Just ask the Chinese citizens... Her "wow" says it all. Hahaha.
Now that you've done Judas Priest, I think you are ready for some progressive arena rock. I'm shocked that you guys haven't done any Ted Nugent. Try the song Stranglehold. I think you are going to love it. Right up your alley.
Hell yon > JP part of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal ( NWOBHM) They risen to the top . Iron Maiden, Motorhead &.Def Leppard knocked out So many other good metal bands
Hola. Me gustan sus reacciones . Quería que escuchen una banda japonesa de chicas LOVEBITES. CANCIÓN: HOLY WORD TOKIO LIVE 2020. unas de las mejores banda que apareció en estos últimos década. Saludos de Argentina
Well took my son to see Judas Priest las night, great show, great musicians for what they do ... like most rock, especially Metal groups, they are way too loud and what is being played is eas on stageily distinguishable, which is sad, such great players ... now I've played where it is so loud on stage your equilibrium is effected, so I understand what loud is, and I've been to many shows that bands so way better, IMHO, then most of these groups, but hey I understand this is metal and it's loud ... also Rob's screaming, well no comment ... anyway, this is not a knock on Priest, great group, great presentation, great concert and my son loved it and that's alll that matters ...
I still remember my first response to them was not helped by their being mixed in with a lot of prog and jazz and a few classical albums...which were easy to come by because my GF's father owned the record store and distributorship. Demos were abundant. So, looking for something new and different, I didn't hear it with these guys. But granted, it was only after listening for a few minutes. Timing and context. While I could easily assess the high quality of a "Selling England by the Pound" within a few seconds or minutes, I could not here. To me, hypermasculated testosterone-driven macho music always seemed to be a province of the world of professional wrestling. Overstatement. Too much cologne. I saw my nephew go through that phase during his rebellious teen years. Alas...De gustibus non est disputandem. My guilty pleasures were and are "Paranoid", "Immigrant Song", "21st Century Schizoid Man" and "The Great Deceiver". Interesting to see the faces on some reactors when listening to the hard grind. The faces will contort and become rather scary-looking. Yet your kind faces retain a gentle repose, which is good, because remember what mama said about making faces, and how they stick? Damn this coffee is strong! Please forgive. Mornin'!
If you truly like jazz, I would like to introduce you to Angelina Jordan. She started signing at 1.5 years old and won Norway's Got Talent when she was 8. The video I am suggesting to start with is her at 9 singing "I put a spell on you" black and white version. ua-cam.com/video/nwFloCPXzCs/v-deo.html She has over 160 covers, a very large number if them are jazz, but even the ones that aren't are infused with her jazz voice.

Love The Priest!.. first time I saw them was in 1980 , they were with iron maiden, I've seen them nine times.
I saw the tour after this one in 1983. I'll be back to watch later.
The Metal Gods - first saw them in 1981 on their Point of Entry tour, with the mighty Accept supporting 🤘
First time I heard Priest was 1980 when a mate bought Unleashed in the East, and like you I was instantly hooked 🤘🤘🤘
Judas Priest was such a spectacle in concert. I say that in the best possible way. Always loved Glenn and Rob. Great stage presence. Okay, KK too.
The first time that I saw them in concert was the tour before this one in 1981.
Drop “Painkiller” on her now.
Make sure it’s the official vid.
Crazy guitar solos, and the riff !!
Make sure you both have spare heads because your minds will be blown.
I saw JP 3 times in concert. The first time I saw them Iron Maiden opened up for them. So good!
You guys gotta check out "miracles out of nowhere" by Kansas off of the "Leftoverture" album!!
As a Priest fan, as Metalhead and Progger . . . . I VERY much agree :D.
Great live track. Saw then live in the UK, late 70's. They were awesome. When are you gonna do some Rush live??
When Rob Halford came out, I became an even bigger Priest fan.
I loved the fans response to Rob coming out, it was basically Rob says "I'm gay" and the fans said "that's cool, can you play painkiller next?" we didn't care he was and still is the metal god!
If Lexi's never heard it, she has to react to my favorite Priest song. I'll give you a hint what song it is, and if you can't figure out my not so subtle hint you got another thing coming. ;)
Haha . . . "Screaming for Vengeance"!? :D . . . NO that other one, well I guess you do have another thing coming :P.
I first liked Diamonds and rust, but then I had another song coming :-)
@@mvunit3 nobody can sing scrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreaming like Rob :-)
Aguante Judas!!!!!
I have seen Priest Live many times & loved every show. Check out "Sad Wings of Destiny" from the early Days!
Rob Halford is the coolest lead singer ever.
Rob Halford is openly gay, and the whole leather look certainly played with a certain image. Pretty cool for the times!
I think he is amazing! Saw a picture of him wasting a. Iron Maiden T-Shirt
JUST SAY.....""HELL......ee.....ON......"".....!!.........GOT THIS ALBUM BACK IN THE SUMMER OF 1981..........
They are the Heavy Metal Gods guys , easilly equal to Maiden. And i'm fanatic with Maiden since 1983
Exactly my words ❤️
Completely agree, flip of the coin between Maiden and Priest, we always looked at them as equals once Bruce joined Maiden. Great choice my dear, you guys rock!
In fact by 1982 Priest were probably the bigger band
Better then Maiden,
Heavier than maiden, better vocals,
More versatile than maiden, maiden has the same guitar gallop in 95 percent of songs
(I've never seen them play this one live, so I think you're safe if you want to watch it.)
(Mark lets loose at around 6:30) :)

Honolulu NBC Arena 1982 religious experience. That was when I knew rock n roll is my religion 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Never heard em before... not a metal fan. I'm a classic rock fan. Yet, this band has attitude and the music gets your heart pumping. They rock. I could listen to them in the car.... unlike Saga.
Good choice for JP. You guys need to react to the official video to Queensryche "Eyes of a Stranger"
Great choice. Once I made a metal compilation and this song along with Sabbaths Neon Knights(live from live evil), Maidens number of the beast(from live after death), Motorheads ace of spades etc.
Sinner Live Vengeance '82
Ian Hill long time bassist to many drummers to name
Hell-e-on the medal beast. 1982 tour was a huge metal Hellion Statue that moved. Laser eyes, animatronics. Bad A**.
This is what made me want to play guitar!! Glenn is the man!!
Hell-ee-yun

Worked out to this whole album for six months six days a week for two hours. People looked at me and said wtf
I know its been 2 years but I didn't see any pronunciations in the the comments so hellion is pronounced HELL YUN
Truly some of the greatest metal lyrics ever written. And prescient too. The Surveillance State is upon us. Just ask the Chinese citizens... Her "wow" says it all. Hahaha.
And that solo!!! Truly unique mastery everyone involved!!
Now that you've done Judas Priest, I think you are ready for some progressive arena rock. I'm shocked that you guys haven't done any Ted Nugent. Try the song Stranglehold. I think you are going to love it. Right up your alley.
It's pronounced hell-yun. For future reference. Great reaction!!
Do more XTC and Steely Dan.
MORE MESHUGGAH!!!
Hell yon > JP part of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal ( NWOBHM) They risen to the top . Iron Maiden, Motorhead &.Def Leppard knocked out So many other good metal bands

You must understand that without Priest there would be no Maiden.
Hola.
HELLyun
The video I am suggesting to start with is her at 9 singing "I put a spell on you" black and white version.
ua-cam.com/video/nwFloCPXzCs/v-deo.html
She has over 160 covers, a very large number if them are jazz, but even the ones that aren't are infused with her jazz voice.
