  • I watched Blue Period recently, and it's honestly an anime that I didn't expect to pick up. But this one struck a chord with me and I think it does with its audience, hence why it's so popular. It's about finding what you are passionate about, words that didn't mean anything to me. But if you're feeling empty in life, I highly recommend you watch this anime. It's a life changer

interesting choice to be talking about art and passion while plastering machine generated images all over the video, everybody wants to romanticize it but not respect it

It’s so ironic with what’s being discussed that the moment I realized I ended up clicking off half way. So unfortunate

I’ve went to a business school after middle school even though I wanted to go to a chemistry focused one but it was inconvenient to get to
I studied business law for a while but it just never really clicked. I like law but yeah. I stopped.
For a long time I didn’t do much of anything
A week ago I attended a chemistry lecture at the local university. And I felt like I belonged there.
Which made the realization that I can’t study it without wasting at least a year or two hit even harder. I didn’t leave my bed for the whole weekend.
    It’s weird.

This was so nice!! I never watched Blue Period but I did read some of the manga, though as I quit drawing years ago it was kinda upsetting so I couldn't bring myself to continue it lol. But the message regarding passion is really meaningful and the struggle to figure out what you want to do is very relatable. If it is something we can discover, it'd be nice to find something that can make us feel the way art made him feel, if that is possible "x)

I was once passionate about art. But then a course of events made me realize that using passion as a guide to what you ought to do with your life is a big mistake.

How so? What do you think one ought to do with one's life or who could serve as a better guide?
If you have an answer, I would most definitely love to hear it!

Some people genuinely are passionate about their career. I personally tolerate mine. I haven't fully found my passion yet, but I believe it would only come from a hobby. I can never see clocking into work as a passion. It's something I have to do just to survive.

as opposed to 9-5 slavery and building a fake social status and personality to be like everyone else? you wont make it out alive either way so just do what u want

This is a familiar topic when it comes to the arts I believe, read Blue Giant, he wants to be the best jazz player in the world, finding direction again in Blue Orchestra and of course this beautiful series with Blue Period. The arts seem to flow with blue well.

this is also because passion was never thought in school and society would pressure you. what they taught in school was mostly standardize theories and such so you'll fit for a job like a mechanical robort working your days off with repetitive cycle of what you're doing that's why it's easier to get burn out. your not doing actually what you like it's just a job who give you money. plus art is not really viewed highly that's why it can earn only less compared to famous jobs out there

Read the manga, its only short like 60 chapters or so, anime is bad adaptation despite being enjoyable
they paced it bad and cut most the stuff that actually makes the manga good, the manga goes very in depth on actual art theory and psychology of artists
the paintings and actual art they draw look trash in the anime too for some reason
