    You, sir, are a man among men! Greatly appreciate your comments on the Black Beauty tom as I am on the garden fence about whether or not to grow it this year. After watching this vid, I will not be adding it in 2024. I agree with all that you said and usually forget about those issues. Garden notes would help me, I know, LOL! Also because you raved about Dr. Wyche's tom in a previous tasting vid, I had to procure some seeds for my own garden this year so thanks for these vids! Can't wait to sink my teeth into some of what the Dr ordered!

      Dr Wyches is a lovely tomato so I hope it does as well for you as it did here. As for Black Beauty, I'm glad someone agrees with me, although I do wonder if some different seeds from another supplier might help.

    I much prefer honeycomb to sungold too. Far superior flavour and it doesn't split when you look at it. I really enjoyed black beauty last year and will grow again. Your mystery tomato looks like black strawberry, which I also grew and liked very much.

    Thank you so much for all the effort you've put into these tasting videos. I agree about Honeycomb. I will also grow Crimson Crush, a very blight resistant F1 which guarantees me a crop every year. Not an outstanding flavour but better than nothing! Also, perhaps contentious, I feel there is a place in a mixed salad for a tomato that doesn't overwhelm the other ingredients. Alice's Dream really appeals so i will try to track down seeds.

    • @veggieplot
      @veggieplot  7 місяців тому

      Have you tried Crimson Blush Lin? It's a larger blight resistant tomato but has better flavour that the Crush, although I appreciate taste is subjective. I might try growing them outside next year to see if that can survive our usually dreadful blight conditions! Alice's Dream is well worth trying too, good luck next year 👍

      Hi Michael, I don't seem to get any serious blight issues when growing these tomatoes in the greenhouse or polytunnel although outside I think they would struggle. The best blight resistant tomato I have grown is Crimson Blush, which are a big tomato with good flavour for an F1. I might try growing them outside next year as I haven't grown any outside for years.

    as soon as you held up those tomatoes, and said you'd grow them every year, if you got the seeds....the seeds were inside them - I'm out.

    • @veggieplot
      @veggieplot  4 місяці тому +1

      I think you're referring to the Honeycomb F1 at the beginning of the video which although they, as you quite rightly point out, do have seeds in them, being F1 tomatoes, the seeds will not grow true to their parents and I would not end up with the same sweet and delicious tomatoes as the fruits I am showing you in the video. Because Honeycomb tomatoes grow from F1 seeds, I need to buy fresh seeds from the seed supplier every year, providing I can find them on the shelves. Honeycomb are quite different to all the other tomatoes in the video, which are heirloom and open pollinated tomatoes from which you can grow the same tomatoes year after year. I hope that clears up any confusion.
