- Indonesian gamelan medley from Java, Sunda and Bali performed by Amadinda Percussion Group, Triginta Percussion, Péter Szalai and László Tömösközi (2008)
With generous support of Indonesian Embassy, Budapest
sundanese gamelan is romantic and poetic, Javanese is about regal and calm, Banyuwangi is about seashore tatler, Bali is about living honest and energetic
Gamelan is a reflection of the way of life in a subculture of Indonesia
THANK you!
This is valuable information. Thank you.
can agree as a banyuwangians (not sure which correct words for it haha)
In my opinion, not exactly
TitikTri, Do you Play instruments? If so, what? ThnXx.
While westerners use Gamelan to play traditional compositions, locals use Angklung to play Mozart and Adele. Interesting trend and cross culture exchange.
Yeah right?

Daniel Kwok Totally brilliant insight..not to keen on the Adele ..but would love to hear some Gamelan Mozart..✨✨🌼🌞🌼✨✨🇬🇧✨✨
Great performance! Thank you so much for cosmic music! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
@@LiquidAcid1 pretty much no one would call that cultural appropriation. If they do then they’re either misinformed or purposely trying to cause controversy.
Central Java ( Javanese ) 00:00 - 02:53
West Java ( Sundanese) 02:53 - 05:51
Bali ( Balinese ) 05:51 - 11:18
East Java ( Javanese ) 11:18 - 12:25
Wow, you can identify it correctly
Saya orang kalimantan soalnya, makanya kurang tau budaya Jawa🙏🙏
Hi! This is a mix of different traditional music from Indonesia: Java, Sunda and Bali put together by Kornél H. Magyar (the kendang player) and me. Best, Aurél Holló (Amadinda)
hi aurel, the gamelan music group still exist? would like to hear their update
Dear Hollo, is there a chance that you have written this in regular score? If yes, where can I buy it?

Muy bien dicho. Saludos desde Bogotá.

As a balinese, so amaze while they play a balinese gamelan beat used a javanese gamelan instrument. Little bit strange but still enjoyed the music. Good job guys
What are the differences?
@@meusisto As you can see, gamelan is a set of instruments, and every region is actually use a slightly different instruments in their gamelan

I hope the gamelan from all tribes in Indonesia can be played sequently. Indonesia has gamelan Melayu, gamelan Sunda, gamelan Betawi such as Gambang Kromong & Gamelan Ajeng, gamelang Java, gamelan Bali, and gamelan Sasak. Those assemble music are very rich of melody❤️
((Gamelan Melayu)) 🤣🤣🤣
Gamelan melayu😂😂😂😂😂😂
Gamelan melayu?
😂😂😂😂 lelucon orang malaysia
The first piece is also the intro for the film 'The Year of Living Dangerously'
This is where bands like King Crimson and TOOL get their magic.
Saya bangga menjadi anak bangsa Indonesia dan saya sangat mencitai budaya indonesia insyaallah saya akan melestarikan budaya Indonesia supaya budaya yg di wariskan nenek moyang kita harus kita lestarikan sampai turun temurun saya sebagai suku BATJA(BATAK JAWA)

I'm extremely fussy and particular about music, I dislike almost all music, but this... I almost cannot believe it exists, and it's a national musical identity. I honestly almost can't believe how cool that is, it's mind blowing. What a fantastic artistic achievement this stuff is.
several western classical music composers did appreciate this type of music at the first time they hear it
Truly unique and surprisingly little known
@@allbirdsarecats Absolutely fascinating. Cool experience. Your story has swayed me, I want to visit Indonesia at some point. I hope you have a great day!
I'm on the same boat as you, I dislike quite a fair bit of music but Indonesian gamelan and her scales that accompany it is just.. makes one really believe that it was bestowed upon them from the heavens..
Cool. The history of music's meaning for humanity alive here. A continuing evolving tradition that benefits all. Caucasians playing Indonesian music-well. And appreciating it. It's been done all over the world with classical musics, Jazz, folk musics. Its how we grow closer and live together-in harmony. Thank you.
thank you very much from us indonesians, really very proud of all of you who can play these musical instruments. we all may not even be able to
LOVE IT, seriously..they aren't indonesian, but see how great they are, playing gamelan...so proud

I was a catrik back then, amateur one. Played saron 1 and sometimes 2. I love Degung Sunda as much as I love Gending Jawa and Gamelan Bali even I was never a player of the two latter. Now, all I remember is just the Kebo Jiro.
How wonderful these gentlemen are. So dedicated. I'm so proud of them. So proud of my own culture.
I wish I can play the instrument again.

I discovered Gamelan music more than 40 years ago with the David Lewiston Nonesuch LP. It is hypnotic and entrancing since youtube I have been able to enjoy the traditional dances and spectacle that go with it. I would love to have the opportunity to play with a Gamelan Orchestra
Yes...the greath..bagus sekali?ini layak di konsumsi oleh siapapun kpan pun dan di mnpun ,terima kasih untuk komposernya.!yg pasti you hebat❤😎🥂
Love the transition from mystical enigmatic Javanese... to haunting wailing Sundanese... to wild passionate Balinese
Terimakasih......it's beautiful Indonesia !!.......for kendang's player.....double thumbs......hebat !
That was great. I love Gamelan. Wonderful performance. Love from Germany.
i love Indonesia and gamelan
Amadinda are the best! I enjoy all your performances, especially the Steve Reich ones. I love how you guys seem to effortlessly perform music from so many different traditions and styles with perfection; I've been playing Gamelan for 2 years and it still takes a lot of effort from me to remember the patterns (especially on bonang! :P). Thank you and the group for this video and wonderful music :)
The mystic Indonesian tune brings back all the children's memory of 'THE XYLOPHONE'.
Pungkasane, dhasar kabeh orkestra gamelan adhedhasar instrumen perkusi, lan bisa uga sawetara suling, iki minangka latar musik kanggo tarian suku Bali, Jawa lan Sundha, nanging ing ndhuwur kabeh crita sing ngubengi kabeh, gerak, katon. lan obahe, musik donya, Asia, Eropa, Amerika, Afrika lan Oseania tansah narik kawigatenku...
i feel sad and amazed at the same time..
sad, it's a little bit indonesian people want to learn traditional music..
amaze, the people in another place can use our traditional musical instrument..
but, thankyou for your anxiety 😃
It is their traditional music in a sense.
Marlia Musthofa Dont be so sad, many teens ,especially in my city, learning and playing gamelan intensively. They like gamelan very much. Check my youtube/Moh. Tohir or Dwija Laras SMPN 6 Kediri. More than 125 videoes were played by teens, students of 6 th Junior High School of Kediri. Have anice day.
Snow Lizard that's a nice way to put it. Music is universal, so anyone can be touched by certain traditional music, and then learn n try to interpret it their own way. It's very natural, and a matter of personal taste. Gamelan itself will still survive, and still be played, by Indonesian or by musician from other countries who love this amazing music instrument.
but still, a lot of kids plays gamelan in some weird-abstract way, or contemporer. it annoys me to guts. i mean, i bet probably most of them doesnt even know how to play gamelan.
its just wrong for me.
i believe we need to study classical gamelan piece first, so we knew the true soul of gamelan, the true purpose of why it was designed that way. only then, we can make some good contemporer arrangement. but nowadays, theyre just destroying it.
Original version is the best, but that's my personal opinion as a half-Javanese, generation Y. And it is probably difficult for the new generation to feel the same way with massive influence from western music and kpop. And nowadays, weird means cool? I don't know. Lol.
Just watched this video. It's a very beautiful play from your group. As an Indonesian and an amateur Javanese gamelan player, I'm in awe, watching how you guys play Sundanese and Balinese (especially Balinese!) out of only one kind of gamelan. It gave me chills when you started to play the Balinese music.
It is very nice to see how foreigners really appreciate Indonesia's traditional music instrument. Thankyou, thankyou, and thankyou :D
Oh, and what country do you guys came from? I'm curious :D
They are from Hungary, which is next to Austria in Europe.
Masih jd penabuh Gamelan mbak? Hehe
Many memories from #Indonesia...Bliss 😃
You need to really 'blend' with the group and other group members in order to create such harmony when playing gamelan.. These 9 guys doesn't seems like 9 people playing gamelan, they look like one person with 18 hands instead..
Lutfi Prayogi It's a really hard instrument to play; I tried having lessons whilst in Ubud, Bali. Much much harder than I could have even anticipated.
i think thats also the problem with a lot of non-javanese people who studying gamelan. they thought gamelan is like a western classical orchestra which, in my opinion, doesnt give much room for improvisation and for the player to express the music themselves. contrary in gamelan, although theres still some rules to follow, it give a lot room for self improvisation.
How beautiful we are...Indonesia ❤🇮🇩🇮🇩

The music/soundtrack from Akira brought me here. Absolutely in love with this type of music now thanks to that movie with its amazing score
Wow,, great performance ! Thx for playing my country's traditional instrument,, I am sundanese anyway :D
Thanks for sharing! You guys are amazing! Love it!
As part Sundanese and Javanese, I really appreciate this performance. It's really beautiful, thank you.
May I suggest to kendang player to listen more to Sundanese kendang penca?
Your "groove" for Sundanese kendang style is good but could be "grooved" again more (Sorry I don't know how to speak it in English haha)
And for Balinese gamelan.. well, I suggest the group to be in the state of trance and play faster. They're kinda psychedelic, y'know ;)
Adrie Pramudya You sound like you know what you're talking about - any recommendations for future listening would be very much appreciated :)
Adrie Pramudya I'd appreciate recommendations too.
@@raumschiff sorry guys y'all don't get any reply, i may have some suggestions. If you interested in sundanese gamelan, please search for jaipong and gamelan degung.
They even have to use a small seat, they can't sit with folded leg like a regular gamelan player. I think its a good kendang play, it takes time just to master this instrument.
After all, the sundanese part is not a song, it just gending, only used for introduction. And gending has always been rehearsed before the show. You cant improvised within part. While penca is used to accompany a dance, and would be found played accompanying a sundanese song.
my name is narendra,i'am from Indonesia, and i proud to my country Indonesia.Thx for uploading this.
