Sure, a modified version strongest is the only way it can apply. But objectively, which is the real way to measure, he just isn’t the strongest. And being not the strongest is always not as good as being the strongest. It’s really basic logic. Being the best is the best. That’s why they call it the best.
It’s funny cuz that’s not true cuz both his wife and son once said in super “we need to wait for goku only goku can beat him.” and Vegeta got pissed 🤣🤣
Finally a non dbz youtuber that can do a legit dragonball vid, while showing respect for the franchise, and without throwing in made up, bs facts that have no evidence or weight to them... cough cough watchmojo cough.
I thought it was interesting he always called himself Prince of all Saiyans, with his fathers death he should be King of the Saiyans, either that or the loss of his people would mean he isn't really royalty anymore, yet he calls himself Prince. A perfect example of his superiority AND inferiority complex, he thinks he's superior to people because he is royalty but secretly feels inferior to his father whom he can't imagine taking the role of King from.
@@JarthenGreenmeadow yep, probably would have either executed him or made his life the absolute worst, as a slave or something. Frieza would have for sure seen that as a huge mockery towards him and feel disrespected
Just a little add-on for the video: Vegeta's relationship with Trunks is an excellent showing of Vegeta's psyche. At first Vegeta refused to accept Trunks as his son at all, not dismissing him only when he had some info to share. After *SPOILERS FOR ANYONE CURRENTLY WATCHING THROUGH THE CELL SAGA FOR THE FIRST TIME* Cell killed Trunks, something sparked in him. I think that Vegeta didn't want a family because he didn't want to lose everything again. He only truly recognized what he lost after it was gone. After an experience like that, it influenced him to cherish his family at all costs, willing to even put aside his pride to protect them.
that scene is so great and it's became even better after you contrast that with Goku throw Gohan to cell to prove Gohan is stronger. at that point i'm not sure if Gohan dies Goku will sparks rage as strong as Krilin dies (like both senior Picollo and Frieza arc).
It doesn't take a genius to realize that Vegeta is very insecure. He wants to be the best so that way he knows he is the best and that others know that he is the best.
Noel López He is supposed to be the prince of all the saiyan race who'd be stronger than anyone. He was under Frieza's shadow but he knew as a fact that he'd surpass him eventually. It really is a low blow when you are expected to be the strongest both by yourself and the people around you and then gets bested by someone who is supposed to be inferior than you. It reminds me of a certain part of Super where Frieza talks about how humilliating it is to have to train in order to surpass someone. It is the same for Vegeta in a way since he is royalty and is not as strong as a common saiyan
He's cold, logical and mostly he's Caring. Even for Goku through all the envy, he hides it by saying I want to defeat you, but that's not true. That's brethren to the scars and bone.
Well I mean. It SHOULDN'T have been humiliating if you think about it. Goku trained for 15 years before Raditz killed him. To TIE Vegeta and Nappa it took half a dozen people, plus a surprise intervention by a guy with a sword, PLUS wishing someone back to life who had spent months in the afterlife being trained by a god. And Vegeta was what, 30? That's a compliment if you ask me. Dude had to get trained by a god AND WISHED BACK TO LIFE to only beat you through tricks, not through his own strength.
Well, Vegeta said back when Frieza was about to kill Goku, he needs Goku alive for him to get stronger. He's realized that Goku has a talent for discovering new abilities that Vegeta's structured mind will never have, and that they as a team can push eachother upward apparently infinitely. Goku uh... Just gets bored without someone decent to spar with.
Mitchell Horton Even considering that, Vegeta is supposed to be the highest class of the saiyan race. Not to mention he was able to conquer planets at the same age Goku had when he was not even the strongest person on earth.
But these kind of videos stick to a story and specific theme of a character, the furry one was an evaluation of a subculture and just why people are in it, no personal themes really. I hope gnogn does a video on goku or freeza if he hasn’t. I’m an Alpaca.
This... this got very deep at the end of it. Well done. While everybody would always have a place in their hearts for the obvious main hero of most stories, when I first watched Vegeta sacrifice himself to put a stop to Majin Buu, I started rooting for him the loudest. He's struggled and overcome. He's fallen and got right back up. He's been surpassed, and yet, has also surpassed as well. It should come to no surprise that such characters earn the deepest respects. And Vegeta? I think he set the standard for such a character development arc. He's more than just the Prince of Sayians; he's become a roll model.
It’s interesting how different Goku and Vegeta are, most of Gokus transformations have been achieved using the help of others, where as Vegeta achieves his on his own, but both Goku and Vegeta fight for those they love
Very well said. I agree 100%. Even as a kid before i knew anything about character development or growth, i always found it unfair how Vegeta would always be relegated to 2nd fiddle. I was honestly always rooting for him to become stronger than Goku for good back then lol. Though I'm glad to see his focus has shifted more on protecting those he loves (not just family but even companions from a different universe entirely as shown with Cabba) rather than just becoming stronger for his pride.
Good job man. First time seeing somebody analyse dragon ball in this manner. As a student of psychology and a dragon ball fan. It makes me happy to see someone analyse dragon ball in such an intelligent manner.
You forgot the most important scene in super when vegeta beat cabba and he gave him the speech about saijan pride and strength. That was deep and it show how much vegata has changed from z.
Woah! Thank you for granting my request! Honestly, I agree with you, that's how I see Vegeta, and yes, Vegeta is becoming a better person. Hood of him.
When you're a child, you idolize Goku because he's so strong and powerful. When you grow up, you realize Vegeta had the better character development, was a better father, and generally more appealing character.
Wow, this was incredible! Your analysis and description of Vegeta's character, and the comparison of Vegeta against the struggle we all face in our daily lives, leaves all crowds speechless. Great video man this is my first time watching you, I'm a fan of you now. There is a quote that Vegeta said during the android saga something like " I am not afraid of this new challenge, I will rise and meet it". This has stuck with because it's relatable to every day life. Thanks again.
Probably my favorite video I've seen on your channel thus far. It gives some context to why I like Vegeta as much as I do in ways I hadn't really thought of until now. Would love to see in depth analysis of other characters much like this.
Please more anime character breakdowns like this. This was really interesting. I've been a vegeta fan since I was a teen but never really looked into why. This video kinda helped with it. He is "human"with a arch.

More shows like this? Yes please! I've enjoyed this episode thoroughly. There are many more characters in anime, cartoons and games that deserve a in depth look at what makes them tick.
Dude. Subbed. Nailed it. Super has made that SUPER clear in my opinion, but people seem to be missing it. Watch the early episodes when they both go to train with Whis. Vegeta VISIBLY hates it, but he acts like a decent facimile of a humble being. And he leaves with the support of his wife and child, because they have a healthy relationship built on a mutual (if unspoken to others) respect. Honestly though, I don't blame Goku for being a bad husband and father. He was basically a mentally handicapped teenager tricked into marriage and then harassed into trying to change himself completely to fit her fantasies of a perfect husband.
Great video I 100% agree with all the points you made. "Will we ever live up to the potential we THINK we have" Deep. Vegeta has always and will always be my favorite character of all time.
I may not be the biggest DB fan out there but i like Vegeta a lot and i really really like this video Lockstin. And yea, you should do more anime related videos like this one, they have a nice texture and are pleasant to watch.
Now THIS was a lot of fun. I’d love to see more anime and character analysis like this. I'll be honest. I never really got into DB or DBZ... I watched the original with kid-goku but DBZ bored me with all the posturing and grandstanding testosterone... I added this video to my favorites list. It totally gets Vegeta right. Vegeta is part of this story, not just Goku, and everyone that’s tied to Vegeta as well. Goku gets to win because of plot armor and the dead horse “it’s his story” excuse. Vegeta will always be my favorite because of his willpower, pride, love for family, and honor. He once displayed a selfishness to surpass Goku - but it has morphed into being his best for everyone, not just himself. When he thinks of the others that he cares about the most - his most powerful moments happen and he surpasses Goku by more than just power.
That's very well said. Thanks for making this video. What most atracks me to Vegita is that in aññ his flaws he has people who care for them and love him unconditionally and that he learns to love that way too. Truly the best character on DBZ
Yes more of these. It gives me such a boost better my own characteristics and push myself further, mentally and definitely physically. I want to try and achieve his body type.
Would be interesting to see an update to this now that the Bardock Special is made non-canon due to the Broli movie. For example, Vegeta showed detachment when Planet Vegeta was destroyed, but so does Raditz (in the movie).
"He'll always be the strongest in their eyes" why is that so adorable
yeeees

That's very well said. Thanks for making this video. What most atracks me to Vegita is that in aññ his flaws he has people who care for them and love him unconditionally and that he learns to love that way too. Truly the best character on DBZ
Would be cool to see psychology of Edward Elric from full metal alchemist
Yes more of these. It gives me such a boost better my own characteristics and push myself further, mentally and definitely physically. I want to try and achieve his body type.
I like this. Thank you for making videos Gnoggin!
I really hope the channel can keep on going!
I love the new style of videos. Please keep them coming. I love these videos
Where is Ghost Nappa in the comment section?

thank u
He is no more ghost. He is alive and working on a new movie ;-)
You are now thinking about what Zarbon did to you while you were unconscious.
Would be interesting to see an update to this now that the Bardock Special is made non-canon due to the Broli movie.
For example, Vegeta showed detachment when Planet Vegeta was destroyed, but so does Raditz (in the movie).
Great video. I love db, dbz, and dbs. Please do more. Also the music is beautiful.
New matpat with the music in the background
