I know I'm one of many, but straight up you did a great job. I'd watch these all day and am sending out to the homies. Side note, I think Goku's supreme kai threat is tragically underrated
I think Vegeta respects Gohan so much because of what happened on Namek. Gohan was in the TRENCHES😂 and Vegeta saw it all. Ever since then, his attitude toward him began to change.
DBZA Vegeta telling Gohan he’s sorry, even in the actual show I just like how DBZA did it better, was so peak. Hearing Vegeta actually be truly sorry, god damn.
Oddly enough. I know you don't think this but, you're really good at character analysis videos considering you really have a great understanding of the characters and can break down your reasonings in a well thought manner
it's refreshing seeing someone actually talk about these characters with understanding & even referencing events from the series & not just citing memes & inaccurate fan statements. Dragon Ball is far from a perfectly written story but it's so much deeper & more character focused than people give it credit for.
@@pric3lessl0s3r5 not to mention Toriyama couldn't submit a single idea without his editors telling him it sucked and he needed something new. the fact they made him invent basically 6 new characters bc they didn't like any of his ideas is insane.

Underrated moment for vegeta in super....black arc. Showed the evolution and how much he cares for his son. Bulma talks to him makes him understand what there son is going through. Vegeta does nothing but support him in every moment. To me thats vegeta at his best
Vegeta has been iconic since he hit our screens. But for me, he became a hallmark in character development when I watched a super episode (and I hate super) where he was at am amusement park with his family, as well as the moment he held his daughter. All I could think was look how far the Character has come. From being a cold and ruthless galactic warmonger to loving family man who fights to protect his family and new home. I really wish Super allowed killing in the TOP so the stakes could really be felt. It would have been amazing to see Vegeta revert back into his ruthless Saiyan Saga/Namek days in order to ensure his daughter gets to experience life, even knowingly destroying another Saiyan race to do so. Also Universe 7 was full of killers, it would have been great to see how their bloodlust would have clashed with or even grew on Goku throughout the fight.
when it comes to the idea of goku vs. vegeta being a “nature vs. nurture” fight, something people forget is that goku’s friends are PART OF THE NURTURING. a key difference in goku and vegeta’s upbringing is that goku embraces friendship and sentiment. sure, getting help in a fight feels lame for the reader, but it reinforces the superiority of goku’s nurture vs. vegeta’s nature. goku getting help from his friends doesn’t prove that vegeta is better by nature, it proves that through a nurturing environment you can achieve things you never could by nature alone.
Yes. I love that you highlighted his relationship with Gohan, I completely agree with all your points of interest, Vegeta definitely has pride in Gohan and respects his potential. We love Uncle Vegeta 💯
Namek vegeta will always be my favorite vegeta because he used every dirty trick in the book in most encounters and tried spamming the zenkai boost. He was willing to do anything for the slightest advantage and i loved that.

Like it’s as popular as it is for a reason, Toriyama is a much better writer than people give him credit for, the story is damn good, and the characters are even better
I seen this five months ago, but I felt like this is also one of your deeper videos, so I wanted to give a couple paragraphs on it when I reflected more on life first, and then the series as a whole. Vegeta's bad moments have good qualities that aren't understood by half of the fanbase, and ultimately, people never get to understand his good moments as a result of it. You can have the consensus that he's a great dynamic character with a bit of overratedness to him and be right, but then be completely wrong as to why that is the case. Also, damn you snapped on this video lookin back. More of this for sure, it's a better analysis than most people. I don't think anyone has the Crown for that, but a lot of people end up missing a point whereas it doesn't seem you did. Some things don't have to be said after you say enough, and some people forget that. Some people make it their duty to add in that one little detail that we all would remember nonetheless. In all honesty, the thing you pointed out about people loving Namek Vegeta more than Saiyan Vegeta in terms of evil behavior is such a key point. I think that's why a lot of people misunderstood what Vegeta did when first entering Ultra Ego too. It's not fanservice to the Saiyan Saga when the core destructive self of who he used to be was most portrayed there. I entirely agree on that too, Vegeta was on much darker timing in the Saiyan Arc as opposed to Namek. He swallowed his pride more than once during Namek deep down. That wasn't what he was trying to do in Ultra Ego. But that form definitely has a lot to do with who Vegeta is as a character. Psychologically, its power is based off of his self control. I do think that Vegeta's sympathetic qualities from the Namek arc ended up bringing this sort of nostalgia factor, and it steered all opinions that way instead of highlighting every important quality. Dude's been cold from jump, but it's not specifically a moment that made him so great. To the people who believe that, it's an insane notion to me. Does Goku have a peak defining moment, or would it be the culmination? I think the latter for both characters.
Best character analysis Ive Iistened to. You seem to come from a place of love for the character and not just love of the franchise or for the writing. Im my opinion thats the best way to do so.
Well this is a great character analyzation. I would like you to do if you were up to. One on piccolo and Gohan's relationship. Along with both of their character arc.
I was so young when I first sympathized with this character, who'd been introduced to us as such a terrible person, I attribute Vegeta to making me more empathetic. Because if you can empathize with someone who did the fucked up things he did in the Saiyan saga and his life prior, you can empathize with almost anyone
6:48 All those traits can also be possessed by antivillains Having a noble trait and fighting a greater evil doesn’t just automatically make you an antihero
It’s a well constructed video bro. Even the editing alone of getting all the clips and the background music changes takes a lot of work. Keep working 💯
Honestly this is a great video and even if you’re not the “King of Character Analysis” this is REALLY good work. I’m gonna start the critique by saying that I don’t do content. I’ve thought about it, and just keep making excuses I guess. My critique comes from what’s probably just a differing opinion in the Saiyans’ relationship to Frieza or what I thought they perceived that relationship to be. As the viewer, given the huge gap in power and the complete lack of agency that any of his subordinates had because of it. It’s clear to us that the Saiyans were slaves but I always got the vibe that the Saiyans believed that they were working for Frieza as a part of his empire by choice. You also mentioned early on in the video that Vegeta could have potentially wanted revenge against Frieza at some point when you said that you were “not saying that Vegeta never wanted to avenge his race” but I think that maybe that was the case. Vegeta only found out that Frieza destroyed the Planet Vegeta when Dodoria told him on Namek. To me, that’s when he started to shift from selfishly wanting to become immortal in order to become strong enough to overthrow Frieza and possibly even become the new ruler of his empire, to wanting to defeat Frieza in order to avenge his race. In the grand scheme of things it’s actually a pretty small difference and probably doesn’t affect the majority of this character analysis but it stuck out to me and I think it does kinda change the his motivations until the mid-Namek Saga. Loved this video and the fact that it gave me the chance to think about a series I love in a way that I probably wouldn’t have otherwise. If you wanna talk more about this just lmk, I’m always down to talk anime. I’m in the LKIAB discord too @N4JEE
This was a great character analysis, I would like to see how you felt about Vegeta ultra ego moment and goku true ultra instinct moment but other than that 10/10 character analysis
Great video. I think you could have gone over the you’re number one speech since people tend to use it against him, saying he regressed after but I can see why you didn’t. A piccolo or Gohan vid next would go hard.
Yea I don’t hate his #1 speech at all. It shows that he isn’t narrow sighted and can call things for what they are while still also being the most prideful guy I’ve ever heard of
In a way, I wonder if Saiyans have a similar group dynamic to apes/monkeys. I say this not in a mockery way like Frieza, but because a lot of earth monkey/ape families function as large family groups with the strongest male being physically present to protect and defend the group but remaining somewhat removed from the family circles. The male keeps watch and guards, always there but more as an observer always on patrol. Vegeta plays this role quite a lot on Earth. Looking after all the young half-Saiyans and their families + the weaker earth based fighters. We don’t see more than one or two Saiyans in the same area. Vegeta takes on a protective mentor-like role for all the younger Saiyans and the Earth gang. He does NOT treat Goku that way because Goku is his rival, but Vegeta plays a very almost fatherlike role for Trunks, Gohan, and Goten. Fatherlike in the “protect you and push you to be better” way not the emotional or loving way. He is a stable sturdy reliable presence for the young Saiyans especially after the Cell saga. Vegeta and Goku are almost like brothers at this point, and I think one thing people don’t talk about is that Goku views their relationship the exact same way as Vegeta. The only reason Vegeta wasn’t killed on earth is because Goku wanted to get stronger to fight him again someday. They are each other’s balance. Both of them lost their people and culture😮 and race, they are alone in the galaxy. Vegeta, prince of their race, found what was left of his people and in his own way takes care of them, and for the first time in his life Goku has someone exactly like him to be around and to learn alongside. Vegeta and Goku rival each other. Gohan has never challenged him directly, and so I think maybe Vegeta doesn’t view him as a rival and is instead somewhat proud and supportive of his strength. He likes to see strong Saiyans, but also they are HIS Saiyans, his group. And that he’s known Gohan since he was five years old, he’s basically watched him grow up so even tho he is NOT a father figure, he still feels that pride at seeing how far he’s come. Gohan does the same thing for Trunks in the alternate Future Timeline. Neither of them would ever have made it to SSJ at all if they hadn’t been side by side pushing each other to be better.

As a fan of Vegeta and agree with a lot of what you said, it would be interesting to see Holla's reaction to this. Since he's a huge Vegeta hater I'd wonder if he's find some middle ground for the character from watching this.
When they checked that farmers power level it was 5 Goku and krillin we’re over 250 after training with master roshi and since then he’s been trained by gods every since Vegeta had whatever training you can give a 10 year old and whatever he could teach his self and we all know it doesn’t matter if you win by an inch or a mile winnings winning super hero
I agree but it's very disengenous to me to say goku has more development.i also get its not highlighted enough when Goku does something positive from a past mistake.Ex:How he gets certains words or phrases make other people feel
Will it be weird if I don't like him that much? People always say "He became a good guy." Did he really? In the Saiyan and Namek arcs he was of course evil to the core. When he died on Namek, not only I didn't feel sympathy for his suffering/death I genially believed he deserved every bit of it. In the androids arc during his fight with #18, they both cause some deaths but as part of the action. Until this MF straight up murdering a truck driver, he knew she will move. He even let Cell become perfect and cause even more damage, oh yeah such a good guy. In the Boo saga he murdered 300 people pretending to be under Babidi's control. Such a good guy. In GT he is allowing Nappa to destroy a city, such a good guy. Only in DBS he is somewhat okay. Now after all of that, I am not saying he is not an interesting character because he is. However he is so FU it's easy not to like him. In terms of attitude in combat towards an enemy, his attitude is far better than Kakarrot's.
I know this ain't an anime channel or nothing so I'm not gonna say you should shift your content that way but I think you got a good pocket in analysing fictional characters in general. Imo Vegeta is a great character that gets the overrated/underrated pendulum swing that I hate for him but you speak on him in a great way compared to people that be on his meat or just hate him
I still think they robbed vegeta in super of that freiza win cuz of everything he worked for and learned up to that just for them to make him not smoke freiza knowing how dangerous he is with his back against the wall

Sage... SAGE... You stuck your whole foot in this, and this was amazing! Amazing work, just downright amazing analysis
Thank you for making a video explaining one of my favorite anime characters
6:48 All those traits can also be possessed by antivillains
Having a noble trait and fighting a greater evil doesn’t just automatically make you an antihero
IMO, the best part I like about Vegetable, is how he became a family man.
It’s a well constructed video bro. Even the editing alone of getting all the clips and the background music changes takes a lot of work. Keep working 💯
This is a dope video I always wanted be a anime UA-camr and seeing more people like makes it easier to want to try.
I love videos like this. Better from a mf that I fw in terms of seeing their personality and things like that. Shit cold and insightful
Great video bro. Vegeta hands down my favorite character on dbz and u hit all the nails on the head
This was a great character analysis, I would like to see how you felt about Vegeta ultra ego moment and goku true ultra instinct moment but other than that 10/10 character analysis
I usually don't comment but gotta say good character analysis my guy ... your video essay are getting better and better keep up the good work bro
The long awaited video is finally here 🔥🔥
Great video. I think you could have gone over the you’re number one speech since people tend to use it against him, saying he regressed after but I can see why you didn’t. A piccolo or Gohan vid next would go hard.
Yea I don’t hate his #1 speech at all. It shows that he isn’t narrow sighted and can call things for what they are while still also being the most prideful guy I’ve ever heard of
When life was simple I loved Goku. When life got confusing I loved Vegeta way more.
I was the same way now I'm back on the Goku train. Goku is hilarious he just sees genocidal villains as glorified sparing partners 😂
Tso next arc: Character analysis. I'm here for it
I been loving these essay type videos you got I just think you should put them on a separate channel if you plan on posting more of them great content as always sage🖤
Yamcha got hoed in the story. Lost bulma to the guy that killed him
It was Nappa that killed Yamcha, not Vegeta
@@simisolabello7658 If Nappa or the Saibaman didn't do it, Vegeta would have.
@@Jules_Juliani Maybe, But it didn't happen that way so it's a moot point. I'm just pointing out that your original comment was untrue P.s By the way, I'm not trying to start an argument 🙌
@@simisolabello7658 it was the saibamen who cheap shoted yamcha off guard.
19:06 liking the video for this moment
Honestly i want the major Z Fighters to have a major win. I want VEGETA, FAT BUU, ANDROID17 and PICCOLO to have a major win.
This was a great idea and video 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥you should definitely do more of these bro these are types of videos is gonna grow and diversify the channel keep up the great content!!!💯💯💯💯
Vegeta literally demanded a space ship from Bulma's dad lol
You also forgot when Vegeta and first form frieza were talking crap to each other. Vegeta was hyping up Krillin and Gohan to Frieza and Gohan actually started believing they could win
he just wanted to prove himself to goku. dude could have left earth and traveled the universe but he stayed and started a family.
This and the Goku vid both feel super natural, you’re more than cut out for this kind of content
W vid, W take. Wonder what they're gonna do with Vegeta next!
Piccolo has my favorite character development but I’m probably biased because piccolo if my favorite character
You are really good at these. 😂 keep it up sage
busted when heard the voice
omg, dude doubted himself for a whole sentence and now he gave up. SAGE!!!!
Good shit sage, keep going with this content is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
0:08 “these ppl”? Should I be offended?😂
Stop playing with my Saiyan pride Frieza
Doesn’t vegeta not find out about frieza destroying planet Vegeta until dedodia tells him
Here for the Anime Episode, much love Sage keep Going!
I just wanted to say this is a really good video man. I was talking to my brother abt vegeta being overrated (not in a bad way) but this video reminded me what makes vegeta nd the vid 🐐’d
I need more sage dbz /anime content
I agree but it's very disengenous to me to say goku has more development.i also get its not highlighted enough when Goku does something positive from a past mistake.Ex:How he gets certains words or phrases make other people feel
I needed this🤧
I’ve been waiting for this video for a minute 🎉🎉
W vid. Can’t wait for the next one.
This is a great vid ive been waiting for a vegeta vid. can you make a gohan vid next?
All Hail The Prince Of All Saiyan's!
Can u do ATLA and basically zuko and azula whole family dynamic and their relationship dynamic as well cuz their a whole to unpack their as well
The quality of the videos don’t reflect the sub count, fair fucks mate 👏🏽👏🏽
This is fire sage
W Vid 🔥Would you make a video like this about Gohan and Future Trunks ?
I still think his characterization in GT is the best
In terms of attitude in combat towards an enemy, his attitude is far better than Kakarrot's.
excellent video sage
The way the texts on the screen is just saying yes I know but listen
😂💯 yea I don’t want people to feel I am not aware of some of obvious counterpoints
@TSO_Sage don't worry man if you did anything in this video it was clarify you're point. Keep it up loving the work
Sage cooking!!
Great video bro.
Been patiently waiting 🙇🏾
this was amazing
W video
I know this ain't an anime channel or nothing so I'm not gonna say you should shift your content that way but I think you got a good pocket in analysing fictional characters in general. Imo Vegeta is a great character that gets the overrated/underrated pendulum swing that I hate for him but you speak on him in a great way compared to people that be on his meat or just hate him
Great video bro
I still think they robbed vegeta in super of that freiza win cuz of everything he worked for and learned up to that just for them to make him not smoke freiza knowing how dangerous he is with his back against the wall
Friezas has never been desperate in front of vegeta before
