The thing about the cows. I live rurally near a dairy farm..well..the dairy farm is at least a mile or more away. The cows scream for hours when their calves are removed. I can hear it from my house and it is horrifying. I agree with you about Gap clothing. I used to shop their clearance to get high quality items but they are terrible quality now. I have several tiered t shirt dresses from them that I wash in lingerie bags and line dry and after one season they all started to come undone at the seams. I have recently been buying from Duluth Trading Company and find their stuff is be very good…but you have to not mind wearing Gardencore Aesthetic.

definitely agree. I liked Victoria's Secret cotton bikini and briefs for a long time and my last order was totally different, terrible quality like something you would get in a multi-pack at Walmart for $6. Never again. I do like Third Love and Aerie though.

I agree with you about Dlulth Trading. I have two "work shirts" from them I've had for 20 years with inumerable washes and they are still looking good. We've bought clothing just recently, and even with customs charges to Canada, their clothing is worth it, esp. when on clearance.

I had the same experience! I just got an order of VS replacement cotton hipsters and they were a different cut and sizing than my last order. They have also been making them with less cotton. Here in New Zealand, in the 1960's I was in the last year that we had "school milk" provided free to prevent the permanent crippling malformation of RICKETS. Which had been a problem since the deprivations of the 1930's Depression and World War 2 food shortages. Our milk was in glass bottles, non-refrigerated it was delivered by a milkman in the early morning into a wooden box (would have been nicer to drink if it was kept refrigerated icy cold). The milk bottles were small, not sure if it was (about 200 ml), third of a pint or (about 300 ml) half a pint. However as a 5-year-old, the bottle seemed huge. Note a standard bottle of milk in those days was one pint (about 600 ml) and half pint bottles were used for Cream. The smaller bottles of ordinary milk, were not sold retail, used just for school milk. NZ changed to fully metricated units in weights and measures in the early 1970's. 'Merica's still working towards that LOL.

I remember the beautiful, high quality fabrics available when I was a kid in the 60s/70s. The hand, the drape, the variety of weaves, the quality of fiber, the patterns and colors, , , once common even in small towns - almost nowhere to be found now. Ready made clothes also were made to last. The problem with cotton then and now is that it is the most pesticide polluted crop there is. Silk uses a lot of water. Semisynthetics (cellulose based) like bamboo and rayon, require a lot of water and chemicals to produce. Synthetics are of course a main source of nano/microplastic pollution. We are left with organic cotton, linen, wool, and the like. I won't even start on the dyes, ,

And who is selling overpriced crap with blue stripes? THE SAME GURUS!!!! If they were honest, they would say that the stuff from last year is still good this year but that wouldn't make them any money. And all the dedicated followers of fashion go into sheep mode and now also 'think' that blue stripes are the things to be seen in - purse open, money out. Kinda pathetic really ...

It wasn't that we were rich, but at that time The Gap was constantly bringing in new things every 2 weeks. So if we saw something we liked we waited maybe 3 weeks and it would be 80% off. While I don't think it's generally doable for *everything* I agree with this a lot. One example: I have only purchased athletic leggings from Old Navy stores/website in the past 5-6 years because it's the only item of theirs I trust to have consistent quality and wash well.
But I do buy Old Navy tops and dresses a lot at secondhand shops because they are "vetted" through someone else wearing and washing before me, and they are the items that actually hold up. When I just go to their store or website and choose a cute top, it will probably be stretched and faded garbage on the 2nd wearing.

I agree that the dairy industry is terrible. However, the idea that we were not meant to consume dairy just because we are the only species that does it, doesn't make a lot of sense. Many animals have ecological niches where they have adapted to consume a certain food that no other species consumes. As humans, we have a unique ability to domesticate other animals, which is why we are able to use the milk of other animals. And I bet if other animals had that ability, they would also be drinking the milk of other animals. Whether milk is healthy is another question, and since nutritional science is rarely straightforward, you can often find studies that show a food increases the risk of certain diseases, and other studies that show that that same food protects against other diseases. I recently heard of a study that shows eating yogurt regularly can help with depression. But yogurt and cheese also have health benefits that milk itself doesn't have, because of their microorganisms. It also depends on the person, like some people are lactose intolerant, but not everyone is. For any food, you can usually find some people who are allergic or intolerant.

I'm not going to defend the dairy industry or the government subsidy of it. However, dairy consumption in humans past infancy is actually uncommon around around the world. Dairy consumption past infancy has its origin in northern European people who had a genetic mutation that allowed for the production of the enzyme to break down lactose past infancy. This mutation was advantageous since dairy is quite nutrient dense and therefore it has stuck around.

Done with Dairy! My Mom, who was born in the 30's, was raised with cows that belonged to her grandparents. She would drink fresh cow milk as a little girl. She said it was so good (so creamy & non-pasteurized). The cows got to keep their young and the milk was 'shared' with the calves. It was not a commercial operation. It's not that way most of the time anymore, but it would be so nice if things were how it used to be and should be still now. I still think the hormones could be an issue, but at least they weren't injected with 'growth hormones' etc. back then. Was so sad for the cow chasing the truck with her calf leaving. You need to break all habits - for 30 days - that go along with smoking, since they trigger your "cigarette hunger". 10% is nicotine addiction, 90% is habit.
      - Coffee/alcohol and cigs
      - smoking breaks with your colleagues
      - party gatherings or meetings with people who smoke
      - smoking routine on regular parts of the day, e.g. when you go home from work, etc.
The best time to start quitting is when you're not on your daily schedule anyways, like holidays or such. It's way easier to change habits for said 30 days.
      - Watch YT videos for quitting and use apps that count the days you managed to NOT smoke.
It's hard, but it works. It's only 30 days of your life but absolutely worth it. Been smoke free for 10 years now.

I agree. These systems and actions are so ingrained no one thinks about it.
When I mention things like this to people they think I am crazy. At sixty-four I have had a ride on the medical merry-go-round. With out socialized medical (except to certain cases) is a wild and costly ride. Nearly impossible to get off of.

Your opening statement is spot on...period!! Oh...regards to the vamp thing, my daughter's PCP told her that she should stop vaping and go back to cigarettes. That's amazing! Vamping is definitely harmful. Great video!! -- man, the segment on the dairy thing (the cow running after it's calf tore my heart out) is incredible.

very good point about the dairy industry, same principle also goes for egg production, the roosters get thrown into a blitzer once the eggs hatch and the chicks are being sorted. This may become one for a future video, the food triangle... you would expect it was designed by the ministry of public health... but no, it was designed by the department of agriculture... and some food got valuated way too high... like the dairy products, the carbs, the meat products...
the housing cost seems to be directly related with the amount of money in the system, your government has probably been financing lots of stuff and your banks have been lending money like there's no tomorrow.

I'm no bleeding heart but the poultry industry is pretty wack that I'm a little surprised the animal rights people haven't made a stink. At least free range is getting popular.

"sub par" chicks are also sold as live fish bait and put on the hook very much still alive.

@@Whitetiger187 they use so much antibiotics to keep the diseases in check that it's a ticking timebomb before some infections that now require 10 days of antibiotics and you're good as new will be lethal again.

I didn’t finish but the cow part is most disturbing. I hope the dairy industry crumbles and cows everywhere can live happier and healthier lives, not be separated from their babies and not forced to give birth over and over again. My heart breaks for this absolute BS

Yeah, I think I'll finish off the dairy I have in fridge and move away from it. There's also something about it that I can eat way too much of it easily? Kinda makes sense because you'd want a baby to eat as much as possible. But I'm not a baby, and definitely not a cow baby.
    Thank you, Nicole! ❤

Excellence. You are correct...reality is a bummer, but your content is always top notch. I actually learned a thing or two today. I am not a milk drinker, so I hadnt really given the dairy industry much thought. Very interesting indeed. I think you nailed it in your opening: everything IS a scam. Thanks always, Nicole!

My wife bought about 30 beautiful, varied, high quality polyester print button blouses 25 to 30 years ago when she arrived in Canada and thanks to careful wearing and washing, every one is still like new, with colours and patterns to suit every occasion. Since then, the stores and boutiques where she bought them aren't there anymore, and because of her preferences, there is nothing new to buy. It's strange, at the very least. By the way, thanks.

I got to the part about milk and you won yourself another subscriber. Cannot agree more! Milk is filled with pus from infected udders, antibiotics, pesticides from their feed, growth hormones to increase milk production, and the list goes on. I grew up on a dairy farm and watched milk trucks get hosed out with a bleach solution-so add that to the mix. My siblings and I didn’t grow up drinking milk and never had a broken bone or rotten teeth.
