In the late 80s several young children were killed by strangulation as a result of getting their necks caught in a rising window. This led to the legislation requiring "anti trap". I engineered the window regulators into Range Rover 38A in the early 90s - one of the first vehicles with this technology.

Hi I had the same problem of window coming down and not staying up if you take the F5 fuse out on the passenger side fuse box and then replace the window will then stay up and you can then go through the sequence and the chime will be heard
In my case the window goes all the way up and then comes down. I've tried this method but during the process of reset when the window goes up always comes down as pintch protection. Is there another method?
Read a post somewhere that said you can tell if your Saab has the comfort option by the window switch. If the switch is a single action, then you don't have it. If the switch is double action, then you do. Well, mine is a double action, but for the life of me, I can't get it to work using this method. Not knocking the method, but wondering if I may not have "comfort" even though I have the switch? Or, maybe this is something that can be enabled with tech 2?
The single, double thing is correct. There are a number of possibilities why it's not working, but it is worth trying to activate it via Tech2 in case it is not turned on
A very topical video for me. My issue is when it hits the top , it comes back down. My question is, if the reset requires holding the button at the top and the bottom of the window’s range, how can i do that if the pinch function will bring it back down automatically. Will it still work?

It requires the removal of the fuse. I removed the f5 fuse and waited a minute or two. reinserted and then did the steps. Good morning i have a Cadillac bls and in theory it will be the same procedure. But doesn't work this time. Don't hear the beep. Have you got any advice?? Thanks
Confused about this function in my 07 Aero convertible. It doesn't seem to work and I think I read somewhere it's disabled in this body style. Any thoughts on that?
Didn't work on mine 93 aero 1.8t. I had to disconnect the F5 (7.5) fuse on the passenger door fuse box, that needs the door open to have access. Dont need engine running. After unplug and plug the fuse again after 5 seconds, pressing half way down and let for 2 seconds and half pulling up and wait for 2 seconds i've heard the beep. Needs to be done on both windows, driver and passenger.
I didn't get the sound, but my issue seems to have gone away. Sometimes it rolls itself backdown again a little and sometimes it doesn't, we'll see if it worked over the next few days.
My 2006 9 3 front passenger window is up but won't go down but when I press button to go down I can hear the motor running but the window will not move I'm thinking that it maybe the regulator am I right before I order new one could you tell me thanks
Nice vid, thanks. Question tho... do the rear windows have the single press uplift function and if yes, (mine don't do it) can I re-set them from the from driver control or do I have to use the ones on the rear doors themselves? Much appreciated if you can advise
You left out the most important step…. You have to disconnect the door’s wiring harness to reset the system. Then you do the all the way down and hold the switch, back up and hold the switch. I will admit the override part of this video was useful however.
But the window works from it's own door button okay?? If yes, then probably a fault on the board. Swap out for a 2ndhand one, though you could try repairing it if you're handy with electronics
Am I missing something? How are you supposed to roll the window all of the way up if the pinch function won't let it??? What you're saying makes no sense. I tried it anyway - & after doing the fuse out thing for a few mins, too - Nope.
Je vous remercie beaucoup Ça m’a vraiment aidé parce que le garagiste m’a demandé 900€ juste pour réparer cela. Un très grand merci ❤️ Je vous souhaite plein succès
Hmm. I’ve tried following this process but after opening my window fully, when I raise it again it reaches the top and the anti trap automatically drops it again which is why I needed to reset it in the first place. Back to square one.
@@CycloneCyd To the letter. The problem I have is that the anti trap activates every time I close my window. So I have all doors closed, engine at idle, I lower the window fully and keep it held down for a few seconds then raise it, keeping my finger on the button. Any idea why this method does not work for my 2006 Saab 9-3 1.8t? I can automatically open the window, not close it, i have to hold the switch, i tried this but it did not work, does my model have the "half-automatic windows" and i am just being stupid or what?
All 9-3SS's have one-shot down, but one shot up was only available on certain trim levels or as an option. If a car has one shot up, you can feel the double action of the switch when lifted. It sounds like your car does not have one shot up.
Cyd your videos are excellent. But with this one, my daughters 2006 Saab 9-3 1.8T Linear has an issue. The drivers window goes up and comes back down about 6 inches. I have tried your procedures as above. What could it be? Seems free enough with no obstructions. What could it be? Thanks again. Steve - Sydney, Australia
Did you find out the reason? I just bought a 2005 9-3turbo and my window is doing the same, but this didn't fix it, or reset it either? I just want auto up back, also a Steve, also from West Sydney, now near Bathurst even westerer haha..

I honestly just disconnected the battery so that it doesn't go up on its own automatically. I hate that and it never works right even when I reset it, it'll lose its calibration in a few days.
I cant seem to do it cause as soon as i close the window im trying to reset, it goes back down a little bit so i cant do the process. I tried it with holding the other bitton to override it but still nothing. Has anyone had the same issue?
The first time I used this 6 months ago it worked. Now its not working :/ the windows go up and then comeback down a few inches..so when ive tried it they just come back down or even if they stayed up the recalibration didnt work
First, thanks for the upload. I've tried the tutorial for my front windows after replacing the battery. It worked on the passenger side first time...however, I'm not having quite so much luck on the driver side. I've tried removing and replacing the fuse (#5, 7.5a), unplugging the door for 10 seconds, and finally removing and replacing the fuse and unplugging the door. I've sat here for what seems like an eternity rolling the window up and down...and I'm yet to hear the 'bing' to signify my efforts have been successful. Does anyone have an idea what might be preventing my driver window from calibration on the one touch return? (one touch down works fine) 2007 9-3 Wagon fwiw
@@CycloneCyd No, but at the time I was unaware of your tutorial, so I just lived with it. It was only when I came across someone on a forum asking the same question, did I go looking for the answer. I've just reset the passenger window this morning after removing the fuse. The driver door is still refusing to play ball.
Clean the glass run seals with plain water. Run the glass up & down while wetting it. Use plenty. Allow it to dry thoroughly and apply some dry lube (PTFE) spray to the seals. That should help. It might be that your regulator needs lubing
Try cleaning the seals system that the glass runs in. Muc off cleaing solution is good (amzn.to/41mjzFC). Rinse with plain water and allow to dry. Apply dry PTFE while running the glass up and down. Allow to dry and try again. Check there is nothing blocking the glass very close to the top.
So I recently purchased a 2002 Saab 9-3 wagon. I’ve change the windshield wipers, needed a new ballast for my left front headlight… I’ve detailed the exterior and the interior… I need to replace the right rear view mirror and the back brake light above the window on my hatch. The only other issue I’m having is the door lock on my driver side door. It will unlock, but it will not lock. Everything works well with the fob. Not sure how to tackle this issue…
@@radekmamcarz It's a Brose cable operated system. If the door waist seal is poor and not making proper contact with the glass it's likely had all it's grease washed off over the years. I'd open up the door and get the regulator out and lube up all the moving parts with a moly loaded grease.
@@CycloneCyd so this means that a child in the back seat can pinch their head into the window frame. that's strange. and how can I find out if my car has this function or not?🧐

Hello mate how do you take the panel for the electric window buttons off my button for the passenger window wont go down
Remove the door casing, then you can unclip the switch pack from the casing.
Hi , my window won't stay in closed position when holding the switch and still opens about 4 inches again .. any tips ??
Brilliant thankyou
My problem is that the window rolls down by itself, so it will not stay up at all. How can I reset it if this is what is happening?
Yeah same problem here! I will leave it in overide mode for now. And just not touch the windows for now. Maybe find something on a forum.
My 2006 9 3 front passenger window is up but won't go down but when I press button to go down I can hear the motor running but the window will not move I'm thinking that it maybe the regulator am I right before I order new one could you tell me thanks
Thanks a lot
Nice vid, thanks.
Question tho... do the rear windows have the single press uplift function and if yes, (mine don't do it) can I re-set them from the from driver control or do I have to use the ones on the rear doors themselves?
Much appreciated if you can advise
AFAIK, the one-shot-up function is only available on the front windows on these cars.
All windows can be reset from the drivers door switch pack.
@@CycloneCyd that's great, thanks for reply and info.
Got a few more of your vids to watch, 👍🏻
You left out the most important step…. You have to disconnect the door’s wiring harness to reset the system. Then you do the all the way down and hold the switch, back up and hold the switch.
I will admit the override part of this video was useful however.
I got the anti pitch problem but how can I reset it when I cant get the window all the way up??
Would this method work for the moon roof on a 2003 Saab 93 behaves like the door windows described in the video?
Hello mate my window buttons on the drivers door the button for the front passenger window wont work can you help
But the window works from it's own door button okay?? If yes, then probably a fault on the board. Swap out for a 2ndhand one, though you could try repairing it if you're handy with electronics
Haa your amazing thank you soo much
and thank you for dropping by
My saab 93 2004 areo turbo convertibles roof begins to open and then stops advice please
Have you checked the oil level?
@@CycloneCyd Checked the oil level and it is okay
Omg. THANK YOU.
You're welcome Hayden. I'm guessing you had this problem and were struggling to sort??
Cyclone Cyd yeah I just thought it was just faulty wiring
My saab convertible window will not go to the top at all so I can't hold it for a couple of seconds any idea
Something blocking it? Try cleaning the glass run seals. Might be the motor is weak from worn brushes. Get a motor from a saloon
thanks mate cheers to u!
No problem 👍
Am I missing something? How are you supposed to roll the window all of the way up if the pinch function won't let it??? What you're saying makes no sense. I tried it anyway - & after doing the fuse out thing for a few mins, too - Nope.
Je vous remercie beaucoup
Ça m’a vraiment aidé parce que le garagiste m’a demandé 900€ juste pour réparer cela. Un très grand merci ❤️
Je vous souhaite plein succès
Hmm. I’ve tried following this process but after opening my window fully, when I raise it again it reaches the top and the anti trap automatically drops it again which is why I needed to reset it in the first place. Back to square one.
Did you follow the proceedure PRECISELY? Did the over-ride work?
@@CycloneCyd To the letter. The problem I have is that the anti trap activates every time I close my window. So I have all doors closed, engine at idle, I lower the window fully and keep it held down for a few seconds then raise it, keeping my finger on the button. As soon as it reaches the top, the little bleeder comes down every time. Merry Christmas, by the way!
@@numberstation try replacing the door module. Luckily they are plug n play, though you need one with the double action switches. Try Ron Saab93turbo17@gmail.com
@@CycloneCyd Cheers. It’s due a service and I’ve a very good Saab specialist I use, so I’ll ask them to check it first. It may be something simple.
Ahh! Problem solved…possibly. I was trying to reset the passenger side front window using the drivers side button. I’ve followed your procedure using the passenger side button and it’s no longer dropping👍 Appears you have to recalibrate each window from that particular doors buttons. Hadn’t thought of that. Didn’t get the confirmation “ping” but it seems to have worked, fingers crossed. Cheers!
@@CycloneCyd okay, thanks very much!☺️
My windows go down with 1 press but dont go up until i hold the buton..i try to reset like you but its not working😢
Does it apply to the pre facelift as well?
Yes, the method is the same no matter what year SS it is.
On my 2003 dont work. :/ Maybe i dont have that function on my comfort modul
😮 I just looked at your name properly 😮 my irl name is Stevie G 😮 we both from West Syd, we both bought silly Saabs 😮 we both ended up chasing gremlins on UA-cam for our efforts 😂 spooky, but I'd like to hear from my top secret clone/doppelganger 😂
Crazy, but back to reality, did you find a way that worked?
God I Love you!!!
Easy Tiger❗ Welcome aboard
I honestly just disconnected the battery so that it doesn't go up on its own automatically. I hate that and it never works right even when I reset it, it'll lose its calibration in a few days.
Dirt in the seal. Or corrosion of one of the regulator sliders.
I cant seem to do it cause as soon as i close the window im trying to reset, it goes back down a little bit so i cant do the process. I tried it with holding the other bitton to override it but still nothing. Has anyone had the same issue?
The first time I used this 6 months ago it worked. Now its not working :/ the windows go up and then comeback down a few inches..so when ive tried it they just come back down or even if they stayed up the recalibration didnt work
Ok to fix this issue I disconnected battery for few mins..after reconnecting I was able to recalibrate them!
Presumably the driver side window was working fine before you change the battery?
@@CycloneCyd
No, but at the time I was unaware of your tutorial, so I just lived with it. It was only when I came across someone on a forum asking the same question, did I go looking for the answer.
I've just reset the passenger window this morning after removing the fuse. The driver door is still refusing to play ball.
My passanger window don't want to be programed. Drivers it's perfect. I did took fuse out to reset. Didn't helped
Clean the glass run seals with plain water. Run the glass up & down while wetting it. Use plenty.
Allow it to dry thoroughly and apply some dry lube (PTFE) spray to the seals. That should help.
It might be that your regulator needs lubing
the problem is mine doesnt got to the top even when trying to reset it. it just comes back down
Try cleaning the seals system that the glass runs in. Muc off cleaing solution is good (amzn.to/41mjzFC). Rinse with plain water and allow to dry. Apply dry PTFE while running the glass up and down. Allow to dry and try again.
Check there is nothing blocking the glass very close to the top.
@@CycloneCyd thanks, great!!!
@@samanthapaisley6436 You've given me an idea for a video - cleaning the glass run seals. It's on the list now
You’re awesome
I have questions about door locks... help?
What is your problem?
Fire away Melanie
So I recently purchased a 2002 Saab 9-3 wagon. I’ve change the windshield wipers, needed a new ballast for my left front headlight… I’ve detailed the exterior and the interior… I need to replace the right rear view mirror and the back brake light above the window on my hatch. The only other issue I’m having is the door lock on my driver side door. It will unlock, but it will not lock. Everything works well with the fob. Not sure how to tackle this issue…
My apologies, a 2008…
Didn't work on two door convertible.
Tryed on mine dont work idk what the heck im doing wrong
Thank you so much you saved my day!
Doesn’t work unless you remove the fuse
Is that according to "Bob down the pub"❓ The process shown is straight from Saab WIS.
Mine doesn't work, I do the same thing
I do it but it doesn't work
I've been trying to do this and I don't hear any bong 🥺
You may not have pinch protection. If you have PT, then your window power button has two positions. If it doesn't, then you don't have it.
@@Explore-Gobal it never used to play up, my windows would shut normally, and now they haven't done for a long time
Doesn't work on mine 😭😭😭
It didn't work for me at all
My windows works rough
Can you elucidate? Rough in what way?
@@CycloneCyd sound like dieing, lack of lubricants and scratching sound like
@@radekmamcarz It's a Brose cable operated system. If the door waist seal is poor and not making proper contact with the glass it's likely had all it's grease washed off over the years. I'd open up the door and get the regulator out and lube up all the moving parts with a moly loaded grease.
Make sens pal, ill have a look thank You
thank you for your advice ! but I can't seem to get the rear door windows set. no beep for setup complete.
Some models/years only have it on the front windows
@@CycloneCyd so this means that a child in the back seat can pinch their head into the window frame. that's strange. and how can I find out if my car has this function or not?🧐
This is absolutely useless when your window closes itself, while I am trying to reset it. You literally cant do it because when I hold the window up button it doesnt give a shit and opens itself again...
