To me as someone who first played 2001, 2009 was the last great one and 2011 was the last good one. 2005 had the best career mode with 2007 probably the peak of the series. Up until PES 6, PES wiped the floor with FIFA. But never made the transition properly to the 360/PS3 and has taken years to catch up.
In the last year, I've gotten reacquainted with the PS2 NCAAs and really, those were the best. I think 08 is easily the best of the bunch, even though 06 is the most heralded of the bunch. Dynasty for the PS2 from 06-11 was infinitely deeper than what we got for the PS3 from 11-14. The PS2 Dynastys made it fun to run with lower level schools and build them up, with conference invites coming based off of where you are and how well you were doing over an extended stretch. Also in 08, what really set this apart from the others, were Summer Training along with the ability to Medical Redshirt which saves eligibility for anyone who suffers an injury that takes them out for most of the regular season. (Must be careful not to do this with anyone you promised Playing Time to, they will transfer after the fact as I learned the hard way recently.) The one consistent thing we saw whether it was Madden or NCAA, is that features got lost going from the PS2 to PS3. Only with NCAA did the loss of features get offset in such a way where it didn't totally ding the game as a whole. 14 is a really good finale, but it's far from the best to me. I think 12 is a smidge better, but 14 is the last of its kind which means folks will revere it. Still, NCAA is one of those games that like Madden I played all the way from its very beginning. I think it inevitably would've fallen the way Madden ended up doing if the lawsuit didn't bring the series to a halt.
it makes me happy that you mention ncaa 06 being so good. i played that game SO MUCH in college. it’s very special to me. i don’t even know what the other games are like. it was the last college football game i played and it was great.
Have you also played 08? Because everyone says 06 is better but 08 seems like it’s the same game but with things like graphics getting better from recency.
I remember calling my local Gamestop a couple years ago to see if they had a copy of NCAA 14 in stock. I almost shit myself when the guys said $37.00 which def seemed like a lot. Kinda amazing the prices people are paying for the game now.
@@rolltideroll8458 i also loved the custom music where you could play downloaded music from your ps3. i would play the saint`s theme "who dat" after scoring a touchdown. i have yet to see anything else like it in football games.
NCAA 09 on PS2 was my favorite because we could import draft classes into Madden 09 until NCAA 14 did that for Madden 25. I really miss the emersion of these games. Taking a player and following him through his college years and import him to a new game and now following him. The time, the commitment, the progress, and the evolution of that player. It's something that we as football fans truly miss today.
That was pure genius. One of the coolest things to ever happen in video games IMO. Having all these players that you played with and against in NCAA, then uploading to Madden and seeing where they get drafted in the NFL and continuing to play with and against them in the pros. Fantastic.
Ed O'Bannon is the most underrated villain of all time. I read that Thanos was modelled after him, but they had to make him less evil to avoid issues under the Sherman Anti-Trust Act.
Yeah ncaa 14 is too pricey. I've been playing ncaa 12 on 360. In my 4th year of my dynasty with Colorado buffaloes. And doing damn well. On Heisman difficulty
O'Bannon does deserve all the hate he gets for destroying the NCAA gaming. He had no right to money just for a digital image of himself. He didn't do anything to earn it. He didn't assist in the programming, nor did he provide his voice for the game. He should have been flattered that NCAA would include him in the game, not greedy for more cash. O'Bannon wasn't just a former NCAA player. He's a former NBA player. I hate how people keep leaving that fact out. He made it to the NBA. He got his millions. Yeah his career flamed out fast, but he still made more money any of us will ever see in our lifetimes. He's just a greedy scumbag who was willing to wreck a franchise loved by millions just for cash that he didn't earn. His reputation is well deserved.
I still play NCAA 14 to this very day on my 360. I do 2 seasons of my dynasty team every year where they play in Montana. I've had this team since 2014, and it's so much fun! This game aged like fine wine!
I was mad at all the players too at first, but tbh the ncaa really is the problem. All the money they make off players & don’t want them to make any kind of money smh. Greed ruins everything & gaming as a whole is goin down the same path it looks like🤦🏽😡
@Xavier Williams never hoid of em. Just looked at a few top NBA players of all time, he was the only name I've never heard of and wasn't really that high on any lists except for one that also had KD at 15th all time, so I'll take it with a grain of salt. But my point was that he probably didn't get paid as much as he would've liked either.
NCAA Football 08 OG Xbox is holy grail for me If the NCAA series had create a play like Madden it would've beeb super crazy. Con for NCAA Football was difficult to run inside, defense INT when playing zone was beefed up but if you properly adjusted the ai sliders this game was beast. So much fun. Anybody else miss that crazy Navy playbook.
That opening music and the usage of it throughout…..brings back such awesome memories! I remember my first NCAA football game on PS1. It had Joey Harrington on the cover. Always Loved the NCAA titles. 👍🏽 thanks for the vid bro!
He's not kidding. I can't find a single copy of NCAA 14 for anything less than $130. Thanks for the video soft drink LOL I can't tell you how many hours I put into NCAA football. I played it way way more than any other Madden and even competed in a few GameStop tournaments
I think we should be mad at O'bannon and the NCAA is he wrong for player likeness no but, the satisfaction that a kid is playing as you or his favorite player should be all the gratuity that you need
I agree. The greedy bum ruined it for everyone! That was the beginning of the these college players becoming greedy divas and wanting compensation, both for player likenesses and also get paid in real life by the actual teams as if they were already REAL pros in the NFL. You have to imagine all these NCAA college players before him played the NCAA series themselves and knew their player likenesses were used. Yet he was the first one to make a real stink about it. On the other hand...The series would have likely went down the crapper anyways had they kept making it. Just like Fifa, Madden, NHL and all the other EA franchises.
Ed o Bannon fucked us, players got less than $100 bucks, most players didnt even care, they just loved that they could play the game. it was the dumbest lawsuit ever
NCAA 12 had my favorite intro in the series, I still get goosebumps from it and TBH i like NCAA 13 more than 14, 14 had weird wonky physics, broken/glitched plays and too many shoelace tackles
@@TheKiid810 Agree they were probably heading down a bad road. Chances are it would’ve become primarily focused on ultimate team like Madden. You could argue that process was already underway That said, I think it’s mostly preference. 14’s simplified recruiting is a win for busy adults, but I think the older games are ‘better’ and more of a simulation, even if I find those far too tedious and time consuming at my age. But both have their place. Gameplay is also preference tbh. 14 is probably more arcade-ish. The new engine and playbooks maybe aren’t quite as balanced as the older titles, but all the read options and running controls are pretty fun.
As much as I enjoy NCAA 14, I love the PS2/OG Xbox version of NCAA 06 to 09 with 09 being my favorite. It takes everything that 06, 07 and 08 has and adds it's own twist like in dynasty practice mode, player displine and a Spring Game. Plus also real FCS schools, and create a school already in the game. Man I wish EA would release a remastered version of 14. Complete with an updated Teambuilder website, college football playoffs, and the features that were on the PS2/OG Xbox era that didn't make to the PS3/Xbox 360 generation.
You are so right. I still play 04 to 11 on a regular basis on my orginal Xbox and on a backwards compatible Ps3. That is the only reason I bought the Ps3 was for NCAA football. IMO I love 08, and that is my personal favorite.
Here's the REAL reason why the NCAA Football series was canceled until 2024: The settlement payout of 40 million + dollars to the Ed O'Bannon lawsuit damn nearly bankrupted EA...and with 2K5 putting a huge dent in madden sales, EA had to use the money they had to go all-in on the NFL exclusive license...what that did was secure guaranteed revenue for at least the next 15 years, the collateral damage was the loss of most of EA's hold of PGA, NASCAR, MLB, NCAA college Baseball, and Basketball series. NBA Live suffered because they had very few game developers to work on the game, which opened the door for the rise of 2k in both their Basketball and Baseball series...(eventually gaining the exclusive MLB licensing rights) Fight Night series was also canceled, still EA held on to the most profitable games: Madden, NHL, and FIFA...and even though most gamers are turned off by micro-transactions embedded in all three game series, the move to implement them was very necessary for the survival of the company. I personally don't think EA wanted to lose any title of any sport...however the settlement kept EA from filing bankruptcy because the lawsuits could have been financially worse. EA suffered a lot criticism from gamers for game re-skins, buggy products, embarrassing ratings from critics (all well deserved) however it was all these business decisions, canceled series, cut resources, and placing micro-transactions in games that eventually allow EA to get back to the NCAA series...they literally put every egg they had in this basket. ...this was their only shot to save what Tripp Hawkins created... ...and it worked. Truth is, if we never purchased Madden (no matter how terrible it has gotten) there would be no College Football 25...we saved what we thought we lost. Not having a gaming favorite like NCAA Football for ten years hurt like hell...and contrary to what some might believe that the evolution of the video game itself would be beyond where we are now, that's just not realistic. Technology also grew with us, never ahead of us...we are exactly where we probably should be with sports gaming...granted that all the nostalgic features of former titles of Madden are missing in the game, realistically what has really changed from 2014 to 2024...not much. I think the gamer would have gotten bored with the redundancy of the same features and eventually called them re-skins as well. This is classic "We know what's best for you more than you do". EA understood the direction of society with technology...the types innovative features weren't as accessible as things are currently...ironically it's actually a microcosm of the government we live under today...people will always want what they want faster, bigger, stronger but never understand what it takes or what they need. EA did what they had to do to survive all the enemies at the gates; slewing the dragon of 2k, fighting of the landsmen (lawsuits) and still maintaining some show of governing with its own people (Madden faithfuls) regardless of whispers their demise...and in the end, the original King of sports gaming was strong and wise enough to keep the crown, suffice the people, and turn enemies into allies...(ESPN, 2K) CF25 was the beginning of the new world in sports gaming...Madden is slowly moving on a incline, other title returns such as College Basketball, Boxing, PGA, and College Baseball and NASCAR are soon to return to the gaming fans...the desire to see them are honey pots to EA...fans like myself are yearning to see and play those games again...and I believe we will much sooner than later. Maybe we didn't understand it then because much of what I'm saying wasn't disseminated information publicly, but it's evidently obvious that EA was playing "Long Ball" this entire time... ...and I guess we can thank Ed O'Bannon for that also.
I remember playing NCAA 2004 , I took the worst team at the time which was the Buffalo Bulls and I ran a dynasty with them for 16 years, winning the national title all 16 years straight

While I’m almost completely on board with ya here. And in general on how the modern Madden series is garbage. 14:08 the game “respects physics”. This is the one downside to this game and any EA football game after Madden 12 on ps3/360 (and nextgen as well). Watching players ragdoll on the ground and transmuting through one another consistently is not my idea of good physics lol Still, love the videos and keep up the good fight against EAsports.

I love the NCAA Football games. I actually enjoy College Football over NFL TBH. In my opinion, NCAA Football 06 had the best soundtrack, but I’m partial to it because my son was born in October and I played this non stop while we waited for the boy who became not only a son, but a best friend!
Just started up a new dynasty on NCAA 2014 this past week. I really miss new NCAA football games coming out but at least we can still play the old games and have a lot of fun.
I unfortunately never got to play any NCAA Football games since they were never released in Europe I've always wanted to play them because I've been a football fan for many years and still don't fully understand how college football works.
Let me stop you. NFL 2K5 is legitimately the best in the 2K series. NCAA 14 is not. NCAA 14 is in the position it’s in because it was the last game in the series and people just want the most recent. I know you mentioned it but just to be clear.
The NCAA franchise was solid but NCAA 14 was average at best I would put some of the PS2 versions ahead of it it was just the last of its kind but if EA were to bring it back we would just talk down on it because it would be a madden beta
I still play nbaaa from time to time. Some buddies of mine at Digital Interactive entertainment told me they are gearing up to crowdfund and develop an fictional american football game with every feature Madden threw out, broken, or half ass with plenty of customization and some features stolen from NBA 2k series.
NCAA 11 was one of the first times I saw the direction we were all going with microtransactions. I bought the game used and since it was used, if I wanted to play online I had to pay an extra $15. Talk about rip off.
This is literally what makes everything in America lately not fun anymore SOMEBODY always has to sue for something. One of the ice rinks near my house doesn't have public skating anymore because somebody sued the rink because someone's kid made the person fall lol.
god do i miss ncaa games, a cool friday morning in june. fire up the ps3 and load it up I would always play as fresno state because my dad loves them. I would mostly win until I played a tough team like oregon or boise state, if I lost i would shut if off over and over until I won. This was the glory days and I wish I could have em back
I’ll still hate on both Obanen and EA. Had the law suit not happened not only would the series have continued but this supper corrupt NIL rule used now wouldn’t exist that’s got teams paying for commitments. And had EA just been simple and offered a deal like maybe just finding the number of players on each team, taking $100k, then evenly dividing it up and giving each player the result, Obannen wouldn’t have needed to sue. Note: I don’t know how Obannens name is spelled so I spelled it how it sounds.
The real sad part is a lot of college football players don’t make it to the NFL so this game would be there last stop at making a video game doing what they love and we need that series back, if I was in college playing football I would want myself in a game to show my kids, grandkids and ect
This is a good point because if you liked NCAA and Madden you would run a dynasty then import the draft class to Madden franchise mode. A person like me would be spending $120 on EA titles but now with now with no NCAA and Madden has been terrible for years now they are getting $0 from me for that college to canton experience.

NCAA 06 🔥 also I saw on Twitter you said the last great MLB game was MVP 05. That is obviously the GOAT, but 2K had great games after 2K5 and The Show has made plenty.
I remember playing NCAA '06 and being 21 years old drinking with my homies and smoking weed haha. It was so much fun, we would have parties and tournaments and everyone would play. I always played with Virginia Tech who had Marcus Vick at the time. Honestly it was an amazing time in my life and the memories are so great. I don't even play sports games anymore. I don’t remember whether it was NCAA 12 or NCAA 13, but one of them stripped me (playing as the left DE) of my ability to sneak around the O-line and sack the QB. Instead, it forced me to sticked to my route and engage hthe enemy linesmen. I was pissed a.f.. Fortunately, this "feature" seems to have been removed from NCAA 14.
The only thing I hate about NCAA football, is how it switched to team builder. I still play NCAA 14 but not being able to create teams now is such a let down.
I luv the collage games, read options crazy wishbone offense and the stadiums shaking because the fan cheers and game momentum actually being felt on the feild ncaa football is the best
I never gave 2 shits about player likeness. I always picked a 1 star school, and spent a few seasons turning them into a powerhouse (dynasty mode, obviously). Starting off, and dominating right off the bat with top tier schools, and big name players, was never that much fun to me. I know that the online world may have different priorities, but do we really need Clemson's starting QB to have digital hair hanging out of his helmet, or are Trevor Lawrence-like abilities enough?
I always liked NCAA movement better than Madden. Would of been cool to see if with more years in Development, how much the 2 engines would of differed.

(Must be careful not to do this with anyone you promised Playing Time to, they will transfer after the fact as I learned the hard way recently.)
The one consistent thing we saw whether it was Madden or NCAA, is that features got lost going from the PS2 to PS3.
I missed playing my copy of NCAA football 13 so much I bought a used ps3 last year. Worth it as I'm pretty sure the game's worth more than the console
U can find 13 for about 40 bucks
@@alexanderhilzim8081 You can get the console for $30 on eBay…
NCAA Football ‘98 was my first NCAA Game ever. 25 years ago. Wow. Great video.
it makes me happy that you mention ncaa 06 being so good. i played that game SO MUCH in college. it’s very special to me. i don’t even know what the other games are like. it was the last college football game i played and it was great.
Two best versions of the game featured in the thumbnail. 06 and 14! Bonus points for Michigan fans as well
I went through the whole process of modding my PS3 console just so i could play College Football Revamped, and its so worth it
08 on the PS2 was my first game and omg that music is so nostalgic and amazing. That game started my love for college football.
12 will always be my favorite. The recruiting is the best in the series 14 was great but the recruiting was boring
12 had the best CPU defense. Very realistic.
i was so fond of 12 then 1 day it disappeared, idk how i lost the cd. i still wish to play it to this day
I love 12’s cover art😉
Thanks for playing the NCAA08 theme man! Haven't been able to play that since my PS2 decided not to work
I've been playing NCAA Football 14 a lot lately. Really love that game!
Yeah ncaa 14 is too pricey. I've been playing ncaa 12 on 360. In my 4th year of my dynasty with Colorado buffaloes. And doing damn well. On Heisman difficulty
@@dnmoscato92 Too pricey? Got it for $5
O'Bannon does deserve all the hate he gets for destroying the NCAA gaming.
Perfectly said
I still play NCAA 14 to this very day on my 360. I do 2 seasons of my dynasty team every year where they play in Montana. I've had this team since 2014, and it's so much fun! This game aged like fine wine!
Good timing. Just started a dynasty in NCAA 08 on the original Xbox.
Man I love 08 on my original Xbox. It is the best one of the series IMO.
@@dustins9464 I think 07 is my favorite but that could just be because I played it more then any other.
08 on the ps2 was my favorite growing up. I still play the campus legend mode
O bannon was whining because he was ass and didn’t get paid in the big leagues
Just ignore Oscar Robertson and Bill Russell joining him and the ruling.
I was mad at all the players too at first, but tbh the ncaa really is the problem. All the money they make off players & don’t want them to make any kind of money smh. Greed ruins everything & gaming as a whole is goin down the same path it looks like🤦🏽😡
Wouldn’t you want money
@@malarie-susangold9259 the fact that I have no idea who Oscar Robertson is tells me enough. And Bill is probably out of money, so that makes sense.
What pisses me off is Obannon had a lawsuit because they were obsessed with putting classic teams on the game. Something that I didn’t give af about
NCAA Football 08 OG Xbox is holy grail for me
If the NCAA series had create a play like Madden
it would've beeb super crazy. Con for NCAA Football
was difficult to run inside, defense INT when playing zone
was beefed up but if you properly adjusted the ai sliders this
game was beast. So much fun. Anybody else miss that crazy
Navy playbook.
I just watched this today 11/6/2022 and you video has stood the test of time!
That intro music almost made me cry
Same
That opening music and the usage of it throughout…..brings back such awesome memories! I remember my first NCAA football game on PS1. It had Joey Harrington on the cover. Always Loved the NCAA titles. 👍🏽 thanks for the vid bro!
Whos here after ea announced a new college football game
I came looking for this comment
He's not kidding. I can't find a single copy of NCAA 14 for anything less than $130. Thanks for the video soft drink LOL I can't tell you how many hours I put into NCAA football. I played it way way more than any other Madden and even competed in a few GameStop tournaments
I bought NCAA 13 for the PS3 2 years ago because of the price hike of NCAA 14 LOL.
Damn I paid $4 for ncaa 14 at a pawn shop with the original case and paper
As an Ohio State fan, I really hate that the 2 best iterations of NCAA Football had Michigan players on the cover lol! 06 and 14! 🤣
I really want to see to fall of NHL....
Hopefully they will know
2k needs to make a football game, I know 2k has its problems but EA just destroys every successful game title they have ever had and you know why
Seemed the cpu AI was garbage in 13 though.
Man, the "College Football Revamped" team needs to get their hands on APF 2k8 i would happily pay for a mod like that on APF if necessary
Its sad because the game was still improving when the last one was made. I still go back and play it all the time
Disagree. They took out great things that were in previous ncaa games. They were heading down the wrong road
@@TheKiid810 Agree they were probably heading down a bad road. Chances are it would’ve become primarily focused on ultimate team like Madden. You could argue that process was already underway
That said, I think it’s mostly preference.
Do the curse of NCAA covers! All the athletes on cover that did not do good in the NFL after being on the cover!!!!!!
Larry Fitzgerald is guaranteed hof
Carson Palmer had a good career.
Desmond Howard does well as an analyst lol.
Mark Ingram is still a first string RB on one of the best teams in the NFL
Matt Ryan may have been the qb on the team responsible for 28-3 but he's had a good pro career
This opening soundtrack gonna make me cry, I ain't heard this track since 8th grade, I'm 26 now lmao
That ncaa 08/09 trophy room music is too good. Those trumpets rly be hittin
Here's the REAL reason why the NCAA Football series was canceled until 2024:
The settlement payout of 40 million + dollars to the Ed O'Bannon lawsuit damn nearly bankrupted EA...and with 2K5 putting a huge dent in madden sales, EA had to use the money they had to go all-in on the NFL exclusive license...what that did was secure guaranteed revenue for at least the next 15 years, the collateral damage was the loss of most of EA's hold of PGA, NASCAR, MLB, NCAA college Baseball, and Basketball series.
EA did what they had to do to survive all the enemies at the gates; slewing the dragon of 2k, fighting of the landsmen (lawsuits) and still maintaining some show of governing with its own people (Madden faithfuls) regardless of whispers their demise...and in the end, the original King of sports gaming was strong and wise enough to keep the crown, suffice the people, and turn enemies into allies...(ESPN, 2K)
CF25 was the beginning of the new world in sports gaming...Madden is slowly moving on a incline, other title returns such as College Basketball, Boxing, PGA, and College Baseball and NASCAR are soon to return to the gaming fans...the desire to see them are honey pots to EA...fans like myself are yearning to see and play those games again...and I believe we will much sooner than later.
I miss new NCAA Games
Today I Still Play NCAA Football 06
And It’s SOOOOO MUCH BETTER THAN CRAPPY Madden today.
I hate people at my school who make fun of me for liking Old PS2 NCAA and Not the newest madden game
Most madden games today are filled bugs and are a pile of crap.
While I’m almost completely on board with ya here. And in general on how the modern Madden series is garbage. 14:08 the game “respects physics”. This is the one downside to this game and any EA football game after Madden 12 on ps3/360 (and nextgen as well). Watching players ragdoll on the ground and transmuting through one another consistently is not my idea of good physics lol
Still, love the videos and keep up the good fight against EAsports.
Hell of a good job boss. Keep doing what you do. I watch your vids all the time. Cant wait till the next one.
I love that you gave UGF a shoutout. Not the Expert is awesome!
Damn that background music makes me wish they put their music licensing budget to making new old school style football music that's actually be memorable.
Same... that background music is making nostalgic😞
Well, I don't know whether this aged poorly or not. Still... HYPE.
I still play NCAA 14 to this day. I’m considering even buying the modded Xbox to get the revamped mod. Sadly, I’m glad NCAA isn’t being made anymore. I think you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself becoming madden 21.
Great video! Here's idea for the next, Rise and Fall of Sport Games Genre.
The NCAA Franchise didn’t fall
It was shot down
I love the NCAA Football games.
That NCAA 2006 on PS2 was the best for recruiting, because you could run a renegade program and wind up dealing with sanctions.
I unfortunately never got to play any NCAA Football games since they were never released in Europe
I've always wanted to play them because I've been a football fan for many years and still don't fully understand how college football works.
If Ed O’Bannon had a better pro career I don’t think this law suit happens
This song reminds me of my childhood playing ncaa football it's been forever since I've heard this
I still play nbaaa from time to time.
This was the glory days and I wish I could have em back
Boy that Bill Wash game was fun back in the Sega days. Me and my brother would run the Triple option with Nebraska all day. Those were the days.
The online dynasty games were sooo intense. My hands use to be sweating. If you loses one of those user vs user games its a wrap
NCAA 14 will forever be a Top 10 football game. The replay value is crazy
Madden lost more and more creativity as NCAA stopped coming out they played off eachother and I feel that it worked really well for each of them
This is a good point because if you liked NCAA and Madden you would run a dynasty then import the draft class to Madden franchise mode. A person like me would be spending $120 on EA titles but now with now with no NCAA and Madden has been terrible for years now they are getting $0 from me for that college to canton experience.
@@keithharper1470 I currently do a Ncaa14 to Madden 25 Dynasty/Franchise an you see a lot of similarities but also differences.. and it make each alil unique madden 25 isn’t amazing but it’s better than any this Gen the physics engine alone makes it feel more realistic and CB actually Play Dfence when they stopping doing ncaa Madden almost instantly declines no coincidence...
I can't remember which year but i believe 08 on ps2, I would always recreate the Appalachian State vs Michigan game and try to win with the real rosters. Good times
Make Football Video Games Great Again!
Sad you didn’t mention the PS1 era games having a playoff bowl system instead of bowls
The real ncaa should do that, because just 4 teams out of 130 can be the national champion? BS...
Imagine if that very in depth create a school/team would come back🤯
They just announced the new one
All day. That is exactly what I do. Love the 1 star schools.
I always liked NCAA movement better than Madden. Would of been cool to see if with more years in Development, how much the 2 engines would of differed.
Never forget Ed O'Bannon killed an amazing series out of spit and greed
