We are so lucky to have this film showing Notre Dame before the fire.
Before the arson.
@@clarekuehn4372 Prove it!!!!
Yes, and more importantly the narrators descriptions.
@@dougholliday467 is*am in france is the proof
@@clarekuehn4372You must be confusing the Notre Dame fire with the Nantes Cathedral fire. The Nantes fire was started in 3 separate areas and the French prosecutor is treating as a criminal act.
42:00 "Notre Dame has had the good fortune not to experience a major fire" - I think we can agree that sadly this quote has not aged well.
Touché!
I wish I had been older when I visited. So much amazing history it was hard to appreciate as a high school kid.
I have had the great fortune to visit Notre Dame several times before the fire. I was not fortunate to have a tour like this film provided, Thank you.
those who have visited Notre Dame, knows that in front of the church, there are so many pick-picketers despite police presents. I am always on high alert when I was outside the area. I tried to spend some time inside, the best place to appreciate all the interior.
I was there during the fire, all day and night crowds gathered and prayed and cried.
Everyone who was of western European descent knew that Notre Dame is the heart of Catholic France. It is the heart of France. Past & present.
I cried myself in North America when I found out. I wanted to go there and see it.

Thank you so much. So many beautiful things to learn in our blessed lives.
Beautiful video
I did not learn any secret whatsoever
Watching this I caught a glimpse of heaven.
And that will be all, as there is no heaven.
I was lucky to have been there before the fire. My great Grama & Grama went to mass there in the 1800's
It was a tourist (pilgrim) attraction and still is.
Me too but now that economically my Heath is worsening I can but I will like. God bless you that you can see that building labor of love and faith of the founders
It is really tragic that such a spectacular architectural marvel was vandalized What a treasure
Not vandalism, just an electrical fire.
Beautifully done video
I have tried to identify the musical work that opens this documentary. It’s stunningly beautiful. Anybody know?
Like Quasimodo, I was deformed as a child; suffered from abandonment and neglect. Emotionally ambushed all my life. I can completely relate to why Victor Hugo stated, quoting Quasimodo,”Why am I not made of stone like Thee!”
If you actually have the opportunity to visit Notre Dame after it is restored after the terrible fire of 2019 be prepared for the fact that it is much darker inside than you would except. None of the photos or videos I’d seen previous to my first visit gave any indication that it was so dark inside. Different times of the day marginally improve the light but not by much. If you want to have the ultimate stained glass experience in Paris walk 1 1/2 blocks west of Notre Dame to Sainte Chapelle which is part of the Conciergerie by the Pont Neuf. It was built in 1248 to be a relic chapel for the King, his family and the upper court members to worship in the presence of the Crown of Thorns at the upstairs level. The servants worshipped in a lovely chapel directly below them. The walls upstairs are almost entirely made of stained glass and have slender columns of stone in between. The stories of the entire Old and New Testaments are told in the glass. Regardless of the light outside it’s always beautiful inside. Being there is an experience you don’t want to miss. I always tell friends that if there is one place in Paris they don’t want to miss on their first visit it’s Sainte-Chapelle. When they return they rave about SC and agree that it’s the best place and leaves Notre Dame in the dust.
I visited Notre Dame in 1995 and was surprised at how dark it was inside. Not a new thing.
I always visited Notre Dame around sunset, so I didn't noticed any difference :)
@@angellacanfora isn't that the point, though? dark spaces lit by candle light to express a sense of other worldliness
thanks, i sure wish i'd known about Sainte-Chapelle! in 2019 i spent june-sept in england looking at stained glass & medieval cathedrals, as well as florence's duomo and barcelona's sagrada familia. i crossed paris off the list completely after notre dame was burned. i probably will never get there again unless this covid crap is somehow managed in the next few years. it takes 30hrs to fly there from new zealand and i'm not getting any younger! .. ps. all the english cathedrals were well lit, only the duomo was dark and gloomy but its stunning exterior made up for that.
Thank you for the tip
Merci..
Heartbreaking
That was a LOOOONG way from what it said on the box: no secrets, nothing but a quasi religious trek through the sophistry & justifications of a religious edifice.
Thanks for the 'spoiler.' Now I can click away and not waste another minute!

It's odd how the words "facts" and "secrets" have become interchangeable with documentary filmmakers. Oh, and "mysteries" - that's another good one. Why do a film about wheat when you can present "Hidden Mysteries and Secrets of Wheat"? Spooky stuff, that wheat! 😬
well said !
@@goobfilmcast4239 I'm sorry I didn't see your comment earlier, but I've been immersed in watching the new BBC series "Untold Hidden Secret Mysteries of Plum Pudding - Revealed!" So much is now coming to light! 😮

Tha Ad in the begining of the vid caused the fire.
41:54 =That part is already toasted right?
No mention of the tragic fire. Please publish the REAL DATE THE FILM WAS MADE.
They just paid to show it on youtube. PBS aired it in 2020 but it says "From: Notre Dame Of Paris: A Living Cathedral" which aired in 2009" in the description. Best I could figure out.
Good Lord Artsie, how bout you do the footwork and find out for yourself. Oh, by the way, it is so so evident that the film is old. Don't be so lazy and having less than 0 information that you could respond for other commenters.
Looks like it’s on a starfort
47 "But it was Solomon who built the house for Him. 48However, the Most High does not dwell in houses made by human hands. As the prophet says: 49‘Heaven is My throne and the earth is My footstool. What kind of house will you build for Me, says the Lord, or where will My place of repose be?… " Acts 7:47-48 Funny how the Bible is very clear that God doesn't "LIVE" in the cathedral but people in religion insist it is the "HOUSE of God"
Not to mention all the Pagan rituals that exist in the church. Disgusting Pagan Relic indeed. 🇫🇷😵 Arnold Bourbon Amaral
and when you love your spouse, you go to dates at McDonalds even though you could do more? God asks us to make a sacrifice of praise - and that is what this building is. Catholic churches (at least in the US) are places where we can give praise the best we can with music and worahip - but also where classes are taught for free to immigrants/poor, food boxes are handed out, homeless cared for, and those down on their luck come every week.
That is what a church should be - and is in many places
God lives in our hearts. We are to turn within and discover Him as pure Love and brilliant Light.

21:39 =Remembering that it was burned during these 3 years... Aiyahh...
22:30 =... So... Was the rooster roasted along with the relics?
Don't know about the rooster, but the relics were indeed found and saved when La Flèche (the spire) came down.
It was one of many ''small'' miracles that had happened in that fatal night of the blaze (written by one who read a lot about religion(s) and its history etc but never was enlightened...).
The rooster was found after the fire, it was i one pice but damaged. The relics inside was saved. When the spire fell, it fell diagonaly over the roof as I understood and the rooster was nocked off and fell outside off the cathedral

Even if they wish to make a new HD, it's not easy to get permission to film the inside in details or to get drone permission. Notre Dame it's France treasure, it's not Disney land.

You gotta wonder what Idiot was in charge of keeping this place safe. Did no one ever think there could be a fire? It's not it was some Warehouse storing canned Goods. Incredible incompetence.

An amazing building or should I say cathedral, magnificent structure. I have one question to ask " why do the people or worshipers or believers spend so much of their valuable time praying to Mary?" She was the one assigned by God to be pregnant with our Saviour Jesus. She has no more special power than anyone else born in the past, the present nor the future. She is not the one who shed blood for our remission of sins.
Your prayers to her are futile
I often wonder the same thing … but then, I’m not Catholic. I’m a Protestant Christian.
Stupid statement: A statement of faith? LOL NO! STATEMENT OF POWER! A power struggle between the church and the king. So they built it right in front of the king's palace.
To celebrate such a magnificent building it is inevitable that the superstitions of religion go with it. After all it was those ideas which were the inspiration to create the building , decorations and music. Some of our fore bearers were very talented.
Could do without the superstitious claptrap. In fact, I think I will. Plonk!
