This album Spiderland was reviewed by Steve Albini (Big Black, Shellac & amazing recording Eng. Of albums by Pixies, Nirvana to name a few) at the time of its release in 1991….this is an extract of the end of his review, published in the Melody Maker (UK indie music Mag in 1991)…….Only two other bands have meant as much to me as Slint in the past few years and only one of them, The Jesus Lizard, have made a record this good. We are in a time of midgets: dance music, three varieties of simple-minded hard rock genre crap, soulless-crooning, infantile slogan-studded rap and ball-less balladeering. My instincts tell me the dry spell will continue for a while - possibly until the bands Slint will inspire reach maturity. Until then, play this record and kick yourself if you never got to see them live. In ten years, you’ll lie like the cocksucker you are and say you did anyway.
    Ten fucking stars.”
    -Steve Albini.

Nice! Their song Good Morning Captain is one of my favorites of all time.

One of the best most influential albums to math rock, post hardcore, and experimental rock. They've influenced so many bands and the band has an EXTREME cult following. The modern Experimental rock/ post rock wave is heavily influenced by Slint, bands like Black Country New Road, Black Midi, Squid, Viagra boys, Protomatyr and many others. BCNR and Black Midi both have potential to make some of the best albums ever, and both have released 10/10 albums this year. Both are tied for album of the year in my opinion.

Ahh man…. You’ve just listen to a song from one of the most important and critically acclaimed albums of the past 30 years! This album ‘Spiderland’ has influenced so many bands since it’s release in 1991. Slint recorded the album In 1990, but it took a while for it to be release. When it was released, Slint was no more…they had already broken up. The album had no promotion, and hardly sold any copies…. But in the years that followed, word spread about this album… by the late 90’s this album had gained cult status, with so many new bands of that period citing it as an influence. You will not regret delving more into this album. The song you listened to is one of the louder songs… many other are quieter..building to climaxes. The Tracks ‘Washer’ and ‘Good Morning Captain’ are a must to listen too.

I’ve got a recommendation you might find fascinating. If you’ve never listened to them you should react to an Infected Mushroom track. ‘The Pretender’ would be an excellent place to start, however if you’re feeling extra adventurous their newest track, ‘A Cookie From Space’ is also incredible.

Wow, a Slint reaction. Cool. I guess it isn't everyone's fav, but their music was pretty sweet. Mostly instrumental is probably why.
