  • Hello darlings! Today, we are going to make an easy soft whole wheat dinner rolls.
    Here's what you'll need:
    Ingredients:
    3 and ½ cup whole wheat flour (420g)
    ¼ cup sugar (50g)
    2 and ¼ teaspoon instant yeast (6g)
    1 teaspoon salt (5g)
    1 cup fresh milk (250ml)
    1 egg
    4 tablespoons of butter
    Eggwash: 1 egg+ 2 tbsp milk
    sesame seeds for topping
    WHAT MAKES A BREAD DENSE AND HEAVY IN TEXTURE?
    -Not kneading the dough properly.
    -The flour could have too low protein content.
    -There could be too much salt in the recipe.
    -You did not proof it enough.
    -You could have killed the yeast by leaving the dough
    to rise in a place that was too hot.
    -Expired yeast.

    إليك ما ستحتاج إليه:
    مكونات:
    3 و ½ كوب دقيق قمح كامل (420 جم)
    ¼ كوب سكر (50 جم)
    2 و ¼ ملعقة صغيرة من الخميرة الفورية (6 جم)
    1 ملعقة صغيرة ملح (5 جم)
    1 كوب حليب طازج (250 مل)
    1 بيضة
    4 ملاعق كبيرة من الزبدة
    غسول البيض: 1 بيضة + 2 ملعقة كبيرة حليب
    بذور السمسم للتزيين

    I made this today using wholemeal flour instead of whole wheat flour and it turned out great. I'm a beginner and the way you make your bread gives me the confidence to try them out as the instructions were simple and easy to follow. I've been searching high and low for doable soft and fluffy bread and I'm glad to have found you, Savor Easy. I started off with your milk bread loaf followed by buttersoft buns, sandwich bread, cream cheese buns , super moist banana bread and banana muffin recipe. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.     Made this recipe yesterday. Despite many recipe customizations, it came out fantastic!! Thank you!
    Was a great addition to our Christmas feast (roast pork shoulder++) with my mother-in-law here in Japan!
    I used half the portions to make 9 rolls. I added 10g of ground walnuts too in place of some flour. I didn't have cow's milk, so use Oat milk.
    It was a very wet dough, but I was able to knead with slap&fold, and intermittently scraping off off the stuck dough and slightly wetting my hands again.
    I let it rest for 20mins after combining (before kneading).
    After kneading the butter in I let it proof for 3 hours (Only because I had an appointment for a few hours).
    I did a stretch&fold in the bowl and let it rest for another hour.
    Then I separated into the small dough balls (carefully weight at around 50g each - total was around 460g) and continued with the recipe.
    They were so fluffy and soft with rich flavor.

    I made these into slider buns for grandchildren. Absolutely delicious!! So soft and they taste and smell SO good. I freshly ground berries!! Daughter fighting Satan's cancer so I'm trying to bake and cook for grandchildren. Blessings from north central Wisconsin

    Tried baking it with India Atta wheat flour today it turns up fluffy n soft. I Replace 100g with plain flour and double the milk. Dough is very wet n soft but it turn up great. Thank you and hope to see more wheat bread video. Thank you

    Thank you! I made this yesterday and it was so good, it was super airy, fluffy and amazing. My family really liked it, it was gone in a snap. Next time I'll try this recipe with all purpose flour.
    Btw I skipped the 10 mins thinga and I added the butter when my dough is already smooth and knead again.

    Thank you for this! I tried making this for my diabetic mom and she loved it. According to her it’s moist and soft. I did some adjustments though. I only used 3 cups of flour because the type of wheat flour that I use absorbs more moisture. Also, instead of sugar, I used 6 packets of stevia cause I was going for a sugar-free bread for her.

    I tried this recipe with whole wheat flour and substituted the egg with 3 tabelspoon gelatin or agar agar and hot water let the water mixture till lukewarm and then used it
    Was soft;)

    Daily I make chapati with whole wheat flour(Ashirwad atta) being Indian.
    Do I have to use the same flour or is there any special flour for bread ( like bread flour)

      I did this yesterday using the mixer. About 2 mins before putting the butter, and 8 mins after putting the butter. It came out perfect and you dont even need extra flour for dusting. Dough was moist but it does not stick to your fingers.

    Hi! I learned to make bread because of your channel. Thank you. I just had problem with this one. Is it really 3 and 1/2 cups of whole what flour? Because, even before kneading, it was already hard for me during the mixing process. It was not like the one in your video, sticky and wet. Mine was flaky, hard and impossible to knead. I feel there's too much flour. I don't know what happened. I would really like to stick to your recipe that's why I'm asking if there could be an error in the measurement. Thanks in advance for your reply. I used Bob's red mill whole wheat flour.

      This was my experience too. I was not happy cos I had mixed up everything but the butter. Was really hard! Had to go with the gram measurement

    Can I use this recipe to make a loaf of bread instead of dinner rolls. If so, is it one loaf or two? Your recipes are so easy for me to follow. I have made your sweetened condensed milk bread and my friends love it, but I prefer a darker bread. Also I used your recipe for all purpose dough to make my own cinnamon nut rolls. Delish.       Maybe you can replace it with olive oil spread for the butter since it have the sane texture? And for sugar i think you can use such a equal stick granulated or another sweetener that have the same type as sugar.

    I'm pretty new to baking bread and I definitely want to try to make this recipe. I only have active dry yeast and not instant yeast. So what would I have to do for that step? When I made sandwich bread for the first time I had to add water sugar and active dry yeast and leave it in a bowl first.

      You don't really have to proof your yeast if the expiration date on the packet is not past, and it's been kept in a cool, dark place, unopened. I buy instant yeast in bulk and fill a jar and keep both containers in the freezer. I add what I need to the flour and never worry about expired yeast. As I work through a recipe, the yeast in it warms up. If you only use packets, keep them, unopened, in your in your pantry or whatever is the coolest place in your kitchen. You can also squeeze the packet into a jar that's big enough to fit it, or in a paper bag, labeled, in your refrigerator.

    I’m guessing in the uk our wholewheat flour is different to that in the us? I tried twice but my dough was much harder than yours even when I added a little more milk the second time - I was using stoneground wholewheat flour which looks much darker than yours!

    Can you pls also, explain the difference between wholemeal flour and wholewheat flour? Is wholewheat flour Indian atta flour?

      In American stores they sell whole wheat flour for baking needs. But as an Indian I also would like to know whether we can use atta! And also substitute for eggs.
