They won't because despite what Shabbity blabbitty and map Walsh claim Bluey isn't just not woke, it's not even political. It's this generations version of peppa pig or max n ruby or Arthur.
Gumball wasn't political either but it was edgy, bluey is too innocent to take shots. Which is also why it's beloved while it's ripoff is hated.

Not proud to say this, but I actually worked on this show. The animation company I worked for took this project on, but our boss didnt tell us that they were Daily Wire until a few episodes in. Right away, the animators and I said that this show is basically Bluey, but didn't complain too much.
Now... the characters themselves weren't the issue. This show was hell to work on... We were not given proper assets, or props, and a lot of the BGs had to be manually fixed by the animators. We also were not given walk cycles, hand poses or anything of the sort, we had to do that all by ourselves. (Which was not told to us until problems started to arise). The animators worked overtime, the clients were extremely picky and constantly told us the wrong things, and will change their minds weeks onto the animation process. Everyone on my team hated working on this show, and we only found joy in the strange glitches and rig breaks that happened.
Basically... we got the shit end of the stick when working on this show. And I am so glad that it is over. (The show was supposed to come out early spring, but thanks to the clients... tons of things needed to be pushed back)

This might go unnoticed BUT believe it or not, this isn’t the ONLY show Chip Chilla has ripped off. Apart from some concept art, the character designs were actually blatantly stolen from the Deer Squad, a mostly commercially unsuccessful but critically acclaimed kids show acquired by Nickelodeon. Despite being dropped from poor ratings (which stems from an entirely different issue), Critics love it almost much as they do with Bluey… So hopefully people take notice that TWO quality shows have been robbed.

    • @ajlogomanthecreepysusiefan5502
      @ajlogomanthecreepysusiefan5502 7 місяців тому +39

@@veenatamara4543 ABSOLUTELY it was underrated! Arguably one of the BRIGHTEST hopes and greatest prospects of contemporary cartoons!
Which is why it’s so INFURIATING that the “other” issues kicked in. See, Deer Squad almost aired on Disney Junior (it’s an acquisition so production didn’t jump ship). And the voice of Kai, Brody Allen even confirmed it indirectly in an interview. As you know The show is MUCH more than Kai, Lola, Rammy, Bobbi and Jade using their planet powers to save the day… They are the most ungeneric FRESHSLY SQUEEZED Hollywoodian style original characters I’ve seen in kids shows these days, THAT DEFINITELY compare with Bluey’s… I mean, with their very upbeat realistic personalities PLUS the brilliant subtle writing with the show having actual issues tackled such as drug use (in the form of crystals, the minerals not meth 😅), the environment… it’s kind of liberal biased but it’s NOT at all in your face… and for a Chinese company like IQiYi producing this, it’s amazing how far they go with the development…
Also Professor Scratch is an absolute charismatic wisecrack scientist who works for the most greedy man in Platnium City (based of off Qingdao), Sir Steele. Someone give her an EMMY. Like now. And Sir Steele, his character is ALSO a subversion, as he’s a satirical envious anti-villain who’s just jealous of the Deer Squad… Need I say that the humor is ON POINT. Barely any cringe, and this is coming from writers who don’t have much previous experience but are CLEARLY gifted…
The show even has a nostalgic Frutiger Aero aesthetic to it… So you’d think a show with this much and love and care would stick around for a WHILE right? Nope. Nickelodeon did a hostile bid for the rights of the show and won it over Disney, development and casting remained the same, but Nickelodeon manipulated the ratings with the ever declining Paw Patrol and by the end of the first season (actually not even as the last ten episodes of Season 1 have yet to air in the US and Canada), they were dropped. Sadly despite acclaim, audience scores sided with Nickelodeon and trashed the show with not even real reviews, more like insults.
Again, everything I described couldn’t POSSIBLY be done with the writers of Paw Patrol, in fact Deer Squad was made to TAKE OVER the Paw Patrol on Disney Junior, but that of course failed and there’s evidence Nickelodeon bought the rights to make sure it didn’t happen… Seems all but true.
However, the show’s currently in it’s third season, if your lucky, it’ll air in UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, as season two survived there and even had some top rated episodes of the week…
So yeah I could go on and on about the Deer Squad, really I could, especially with me being a huge fan myself BUT the fact is they’ve already been screwed over by a cheap show for quick profit and now screwed over by another one from a hated conservative talk show host…

I love the dynamic between Chip Chilla and Bluey in terms of character development. While in Chip Chilla you have chip being a mean person, ends up doing something wrong then eventually learns his lesson. EVERY EPISODE!!! But in Bluey (the earlier episodes do have this sort of concept) as the show progresses, she learns to respect the people around her like in Chess in season 3 where you see a massive increase of respect for her sister. It's allowing the characters to learn instead of make the same mistake which bring so much life to the show. That's why I think Bluey is infinitely better than Chip Chilla.
Also, the music for Bluey definitely had more work and care put into it to really immerse you into every episode.

Yeah, homeschooling isn’t just a conservative thing. Me and my siblings were homeschooled because my oldest sister was diagnosed with autism and the counselor told my mom “if she isn’t medicated she’ll never succeed or even get through schooling.” The meds they wanted to put her on would have numbed her and she would have been in a system and environment that would be trying to force her into a mold instead of actually helping her grow and be herself. So my mom homeschooled us, my older sis got into an IV league college and my mom sent that councilor a copy of the acceptance letter.

Homeschooling is great when you are doing it because it is the better fit for your child’s needs. It just takes a disturbing angle when it’s being used to prevent your children from encountering any ideas outside of your own.

Reminds me of how US film-makers like to remake foreign movies for the US market, not necessarily for the better, like with "Intouchables" an original French movie and "The Upside"
Like you said, the show having more of the generic kids show structure. Makes you wonder if the makers were like "we'll make our own Bluey, with Blackjack and Hookers", but never really looked into it, so they basically just copied what they saw on a glance, and filled the holes with the next best generic thing.

At least when American film makers make foreign films in an American mold, they don’t necessarily copy down the dialogue, cinematography, score, etc down to a science. They structure it around an American audience expectation. DW just straight up copied the art style, score, and animation of Bluey while also going for the same or at least similar audience.

The Upside is literally an American adaptation and was coproduced by the company that made “Intouchables”. Also keep in mind, both movies were loosely based on a real story of French businessman Philippe Pozzo and his aid Abdel “Dell” Sellou. Just like in both movies, Philippe was paralyzed in an accident and hired Dell as his help and formed a friendship. The same thing happened for Hachi: A Dog’s Story which was based on a dog named Hachiko from 1930s Japan but they changed it to be set in contemporary America

First off The Untouchables is based on a real story. The Upside “Americanized” the premise basically being set in NYC rather than Paris but the characters are based on the real people. Bryan Cranston’s Philip Lecasse is based on Philippe Pozzo and Kevin Hart’s Dell is based on Abdel Sellou. FYI Philip Pozzo only died this year in June, whereas Abdel is still alive, though he eventually went onto to better things after his time as Pozzo’s help

Personally, I believe Chip Chilla was created as a direct competitor to bluey, not because bluey is woke or anything, I don't think it is, it's because most easily accessed on Disney+. BentKey's entire stated purpose is that Disney was too woke, so this is a non political version. This is why they have their own snow white in the works, and why Chip Chilla exists as well. There is no way BentKey could get the streaming rights from Disney, so making their own was the only option, though I admit it feels a bit to close to the source material.
As for the childish feeling of Chip Chilla, I think that's kind of on purpose. They needed something that would appeal to kids, adults were simply not a big concern. Will it possibly appeal to adults in the future, maybe, but when it was being developed, This was still a financial risk for the daily wire, as well as for the people making it. A lot of people in Hollywood don't like the daily wire, so anybody who have worked for them may not be able to get a job in other parts of the industry in the future.

Thank you so much for creating a review of this show that isn't focused entirely on its creation by a Conservative outlet. I know people who have brushed off the show entirely and just assumed it's bad just because of its origins, so thank you for taking the time to actually watch the show and try to give it a genuine analysis based on its content.
I definitely agree that the show's existence feels unneeded, but like mentioned in the video, it's probably the Daily Wire capitalizing off of parents who hate Disney. My father is a conservative, and he's been especially paranoid about children's media made by Disney. All of the videos he watches is shifting him into the mindset that Disney is out for your children. Him and many other conservative parents feel really scared of any media coming from Disney.
Even if Bluey is beloved by essentially everyone, most Americans watch it on Disney +, which many conservatives has boycotted. Since Bluey is so loved, I think Daily Wire tried to replicate its success through Chip Chilla, but I think their intentions may have been more pure than that. They may have been trying to "give" Bluey to conservative families who otherwise wouldn't be able to watch upon abandoning Disney +. As you said in the video, Bluey can still be watched in other ways, which is why I think the show is mostly unneeded, but Disney + is the most common way to watch it.

As someone who is a conservative myself, I've watched a few episodes of Bluey and frankly, I think it's a fantastic kid's show. The main issue is its main platform being Disney, which many conservative parents are turning away from for various reasons. While I am interested to see where DW's kids programming takes them, I was a little disappointed with Chip Chilla in particular as I knew many people would dog on it for being a blatant ripoff and draw the attention away from other, potentially good, original products of the program they're trying to launch. I do think DW was trying to give conservative parents a more "accessible" version of Bluey (although, I don't think they should've), but it'll likely backfire on them, which is a shame. I am looking forward to seeing their new Snow White though.

One thing I would like to add is that in conservative spaces (I’m not but everyone in my area is)
Bluey is considered woke because of the good parenting and emotional communication and “deeper” subjects. It’s a very odd conclusion, but this is kinda what has been believed as “liberal sissy” parenting. Or emotional intelligence (what Bluey is very good at teaching kids) is also “leftist agenda”
But that’s essentially the main difference that DW wanted to do with kids cartoons.

Yeah I’m gonna get outta pocket and say that…yeah the show is made to be conservative, and we shouldn’t beat around the bush. That’s a bad thing.
Like, if a MAJOR aspect of bluey is that parents don’t need to be authoritative to be good, and a major aspect of conservatism is keeping hierarchical standards in place, then of course a show made by people that are known for and made a career from being conservative is gonna be openly against that.
The reason I think we can’t “both sides” this and should just call it a bad thing is because…
1: it rips off another show. Copyright violations suck, left or right. At the very least, they’re riding the coattails of the show to some degree. It’s not even original. It sucks from an artistic aspect.
2: if an overly authoritative style of parenting (with over-the-top punishments) is known to be more harmful to kids, it shouldn’t be promoted. For example, why was breaking toys necessary at all? It’s just punitive for the sake of being punitive. It sucks from a moral aspect.
I’d like to think I handled this from as neutral of a point that is justifiable to myself. We can’t always just act like opinions have merit JUST because they’re differing opinions. They’re great, but There’s GOTTA be a cut-off, and encouraging harmful parenting tactics, or at least NORMALIZING it is awful.

    • @Mars-jf4gy
      @Mars-jf4gy 7 місяців тому +1

Exactly. You could apply the “both sides are valid” logic to a lot of things, but not this. When one side is obviously extremely harmful, you’re just admitting that you accept it on some level by validating the “differing beliefs”. Differing beliefs are things like religion, ice cream flavors and paint colors. Those are the things to be neutral on, not things that are objectively harmful or promoting objectively harmful concepts.

I heard about that series through your UA-cam community post you made a while back, and it reminded me of an original fiction idea of mine which was originally intended to be a series of alternative universe Bluey fan-fictions before I cancelled that due to negative plot direction and reworked it into what I currently picture as a Bluey-like animated TV or graphic novel series.
The only setting directly carried over from the fanfic idea was it taking place in Perth instead of Brisbane, but other than that, I work on it inactively as a side project and it currently still feels like a Bluey rip-off when I picture it in my imagination, but only because the idea is still in its infancy and I still have a lot of room to make it different. (Metaphorically speaking, I can't yet see the big picture as I only drew a few small pieces)
There are other differences I put in, like characters having person names instead of pet dog names, and drawing some inspiration from my own childhood for plot ideas and elements, however I still have a long way to go with that idea of mine, but I do currently picture it as a metaphorical after-party in relation to Bluey, expanding on its plot ideas with some of my own.
(6:06) (1:04) I've now noticed that while the Bluey intro depicts the title character's family playing musical statues, hinting at the series focusing on learning through play, the Chip Chilla intro is… lots of random items, including instant photos of the title character's family and other things forming the names of their voice actors scattered in their backyard, placed in a way that forms the show's logo under which the episode name appears. I sense a different creative direction.
(6:41) That's interesting. I like that Bluey defies stereotypes by not linking character design to gender as easily, (6:57) while the blue and pink of the title character's family in Chip Chila seem to suggest to me that character designs instead follow stereotypes, or just US stereotypes.
(7:04) I didn't think of that. What you mentioned seem to now make me think that Chip Chilla is like what Bluey would've been like if it were made and took place in the US instead of Australia.
(9:26) That somehow reminded me of the Bluey episode STICKY GECKO!
(10:03) I noticed that too, and seem to see resemblances in the art styles of other Bentkey original animated TV series too, though can't yet say for sure as I haven't yet done enough research, though I did find out that Bentkey brand their original programming as "Bentkey Adventures". I do, however, imagine some artists referencing Chip Chilla stills for art references if they can't reference Bluey stills for their Bluey fan art, though mostly with object and background models rather than character models.
(10:28) Oh my. That looks way more Bluey-like, particularly with how character eyes were drawn.
(10:49) I was reminded of one of my old character design ideas that's currently not linked to any of my fiction ideas, that being an elderly or middle-aged male character.
I was also reminded of my idea for a Bluey-like animated TV or graphic novel series, because in that, I do try to mix in original ideas instead of directly copying Bluey, and that includes doing so with episode or book plots.
(12:07) In a Web search, I saw a Reddit post from a user who was having trouble trying to install the Bentkey app for Roku, and mentioned that they wanted their children to pick the service over other streaming services. As such, I imagined them preventing their children from accessing Disney Plus to watch Bluey.
(13:08) That reminded me of Aussie Girl Margie.

I'm not a Bluey fan, although if I had kids I would happily watch it with them.
As a cartoon fan however, this Chip Chilla show along most of the other children's content the Daily Wire has is clearly meant to signal to their small customer base that they have something similar enough to what their kids want. Based on some of the comments that DW has made, it sounds like they do like Bluey but hate the company that owns it in the States which tells me they'd happily buy the rights to stream it but creating something that's visually similar works in a pinch too. This show while not political is in a weird way not truly for kids for that reason.
Also, I'm trying to respect your wishes in regards to politics, but given the history of a lot of the DW's employees and the stuff they say and create, I personally do not blame any animation studio or artist or anyone else for that matter wanting to avoid that company at all costs. DW is kinda where you go when you burn your bridges professionally, like there was a Disney creative who was involved with some Tangled animated series who turned out to be creepy and harmful, now he's at DW.
    Anyways, decent video.

@@AFishInPajamas I think a large part of why is business related Daily Wire as a company very much wants to be a media company with the selling point of "no woke politics". Telling people to use a VPN and watch Aussie television is serious money left on the table.
The other part is their narrative. What the Daily Wire does on a regular basis is sell people on this idea that mainstream media is unsafe and brainwashing people, often using "safe" things to introduce to values they dislike. Bluey is on a streaming service that also has Moon Girl, a show that acknowledges racism in American history and even has a scene where the main character states her pronouns. It's easiest to target Disney because it's such a massive name worldwide and they have had more progressive content lately but they seem to hate all major media companies.
They also need control because they've had sponsor companies break off from them in the past due to their extreme politics, as shown with Harry's razors. Then they made their own razor brand.

The clip you used of the chinchilla mom stepping on a Lego and then belatedly screaming is very reminiscent of an episode of Big City Greens -- which is also an incredibly fun, enjoyable kids' show that has a lot of heart and is very cozy for adults to watch. Big City Greens is definitely more in the over-the-top, chaotic unrealistic vein than Bluey, but works in that area extremely well -- and while its most frequent main character (Cricket Green) is often faced with learning lessons about not giving in to mischievous impulses, he always loves and is loyal to his family, and he's not the only character who has lessons to learn. I feel like Chip Chilla fails to understand that what hooks a viewer into a show is how much heart that show has. They're just trying to follow a formula and get the same result.

In conclusion, I don’t think chip chilla is that bad I just think it could’ve used some good writing including changing their artstyle but even if they did all of that people are still gonna accuse it of being propaganda or indoctrination since it’s from a company they dislike. For example, the episode where the parents act like kids may seem cartoony fun but you can also see it as trying to make children look extremely irresponsible and that the parents know best. If it was a Bluey episode, both the parents and kids would have learnt a lesson out of it but Chip doesn't want you to question authority or undermine it with the parents showing 'weakness'.
I'm glad that people are criticising the show, it feels like it wasn't made out of passion or inspired by bluey but rather out of spite of how successful it is and how unconventional its appeal is.

At least Peppa Pig can be kinda funny sometimes, so i’d say thats better than Chip Chilla imo
      Still better than Caillou though

I don't know why Chip Chilla changed their animation style. It wouldn't change the show that much, but I think the first designs are more appealing.

Thanks for your neutral take on this. It was really hard to find a review of this show on UA-cam that didn't have their political goggles on. I was just curious about this show and was looking for a not biased take on it.

I think children’s cartoons need to be more like Bluey. They need to focus on not the Hyper energetics aspect, but the story. Kids understand stories they understand, deep influential stories. that are unfortunately usually only told in cartoon movies or adult cartoons. The only children’s cartoons that I know of that’s kind of like this is Steven universe and bluey I’m sure there are other ones out there too but people think all kids want is chaos! I was a kid too. I love deep stories. I didn’t understand all the aspects, but I loved these stories so much I watch them when I grew up, and I started to understand more and more. And scary gory things to kids like those as well believe it or not. Just obviously not all out like the movie saw or something.

Yeah Ludo is on break, it's hard locally because anyone who's starting out in animation in Brisbane had a good in for the studio, with them on break it's tough out here

Honestly I was one of those parents who thought "oh brother American Bluey here we go with this garbage" but then I thought "well actually wouldn't a show inspired by Bluey if good be a good thing?" I mean seriously I get how everyone wants things to be one way but if you get something good out of it might be worth a watch. However if it just a cash grab idea that poorly executed then no it probably bad. I might give the show a shot sometime but will keep my expectations tempered.

I agree, I’ve seen a little of Chip Chilla and it’s good if you look at it through the lenses of _Bluey Lite_ Especially sense DW has praised Bluey and said they support its values. Honestly I kinda just wish DW would just admit it, I’d respect them if they just said _Bluey really supports our values but we cannot support Disney+ so we wanted to make out own and honor what made Bluey great_ but they only said half of that lol
