I write it "Dragon Quest XI" and when speaking, I call it "Dragon Quest 11"
Generally the Dragon Quest series uses numerals, so I'd say to use XI, but really you can use whatever you want.

If you played the previous DQ games, you'll notice that Dragon Quest 11 is *a fruitsalad mash of previous DQ games*
Many references, cameos, jokes, enemies and other call-outs to Dragon Quest...and even Dragon Ball Z.
BTW, Nice choice of the video title.
I mean DQ is animated by Akira Toriyama so it is expected that they share similar art and some references, I mean look at DQ8 and DQ9 which gave a similar appearance to Super Saiyan when you had max tension
My main issue with the music is that they have a whole ocherstral soundtrack recorded which you can buy, but it's not in the game because the composer didn't give SE permission, which is quite dumb.
That's just inexcusable

7:20 Thank you I thought it was just me. I wish there was some customization to change that bland hair.
Finding that Erik was a thief I was like “good, now hold all my loot” and went around smashing more pots and breaking and entering. Its just my gamer instinct to first search every room and talk to every npc and pick up every book. And the blank slate thing was very annoying to the point I was flat out talking to my Switch, replying to the ingame dialogue in my own sarcastic quips. And my roommate walked into my room one day and asked who I was talking to and I deadpanned “s just a game bro, chill”
I think the music got much better in the switch version, since I'm playing that version and I really like the relaxing ochestrial music

Ramzaes, if you want to play a fairly recent Dragon Quest game with a good soundtrack (it's amazing actually), pick up Dragon Quest 8 for PS2. I couldn't recommend it enough if you liked DQXI. Love your vids by the way, keep it up!
Yeah 8 is the best one, especially the 3ds remake. Why play the ps2 version when the 3ds remake is better in every way.

I honestly couldn't get myself to play the game until a mod to replace the soundtrack with the orchestral version was released. It still wasn't amazing, but it was good enough to be almost on par with the rest of the game's quality.

Thanks for the review! As a massive Tales of Berseria fan (due to the story), it sounds like DQXI probably won't appeal to me due to the "chosen one" storyline. Those character designs keep tempting me, though. >_
It's easy for you to criticize the music when you play with it turned off...
I mean, there's a lot. A LOT of great music. Music during sad cutscenes is amazing, Music when you're on a Sea is amazing and many others.
I also love world map theme and battle theme.
And i love Midi tracks as well, reminds me of 90's anime like Magic Knight Rayearth and Slayers ^_^
I think the 2nd world map theme that plays once you start Arc 3 is epic as hell, I like all of the town themes and sad themes as well!

Sure the graphics are downgraded but the soundtrack is so much better which makes up for it.
the saddest thing about the whole dragon chase thing is that I saw at least 3 metal slimes when I did it makes me sad
The best part is it literally is Dragon Ball character designs because all the characters are designed by Akira Toriyama himself. Going back and watching this after the switch version was released is interesting, because the switch version actually has orchestrated tracks and the ability to wear any outfit (that you've unlocked) with any armor equipped lol. Also with the free dlc you have the option to change all the music to dragon quest 8 music.

Post-Game content is basically Final Fantasy 6 after the World is ruined.
Dragon Quest as a series coaxes you in with cute characters and classic gameplay, and then rips your heart out and beats you with it.
I really want to play with all the various features you get at the end of the game such as post game content and multiple marriage options but and I know this sounds nitpicking but I just don’t have the heart to go on because of how they treated Jade in her standalone story. I mean she wears a bunny girl outfit for a good chunk of it (I mean yeah I had her wear one a few times in the game but that’s beside the point) then it ends with her getting captured, what the hell ?!?! That was such a demeaning thing to do for such a bad ass character like her.
I am glad I’m not the only one who hated main characters hair, HE IS NOT TRUNKS! especially since his hair isn’t purple or dyed blue.

Wow what bullshit. First of all the the symphonic score did come over to the U.S with Dragon Quest VIII. Also DQ XI having midi music has nothing to do with Japanese nationalism since Japan got the same music. The real reason Sugiyama puts midi music in the games is because he is actually the one who owns the music he composes and he doesn't put the orchestra version in the game so as not to interfere with his album sales. Please be informed about why the music is the way it is before pulling something completely out of your ass.

I HIGHLY recommend Dragon Quest VIII and Dragon Quest V. Dragon Quest VIII is probably the most polished entry in the franchise and almost unanimously considered the best one in the west (until now, XI is tough competition). I recommend the ps2 version rather than the 3ds version, you won't get the best experience otherwise. As for Dragon Quest V I love it for a completely different reason. It is still sort of the "chosen one" plot (like pretty much every DQ game) but with one of the most interesting twists I've ever seen in a JRPG. For various reasons throughout the game you actually grow with the character, literally. You start off as a child with your father on a journey to find your mother. Stopping in towns, making friends, and causing mischief. Then You end up a young adult and adventure like that before eventually having kids of your own. Seeing the characters and world around you change as you age is incredibly fresh. For this one I'd recommend the DS version, despite it's simplified look it legitimately made me cry at multiple points thanks to the amazing writing and music. If you like both of those Dragon Quest IV is a little more generic but is a direct prequel in the same world so seeing the hero referenced in V may be interesting to you. Anyway glad you loved the game and i hope you play these too!
I do love Akira Toriyama and his art style. Makes the game look amazing. I do enjoy this game but it is a MONSTER length. I'm over 30 hours in and nowhere close to the halfway point from what I can tell. Only buy this if you have A LOT of time available

You know that on the pc version, you can get a mod that replaces the midi music with orchestral music, right?
Ram, while it may not matter now, but in the definitive edition of the game, the music is now orchestral, you can change between midi and orchestral but there’s no reason to go back to midi when you have the amazing orchestral soundtrack

While the game is a masterpiece, I have to agree about the point with the Hero being silent. This game is really good, but if the Hero was his own character and could talk, it would've been TRANSCENDENT. The story sets up SO MUCH around him that has so much potential for AMAZING character development and arcs for him and the fact that it was all wasted is CRIMINAL
the sad thing about Eleven being such a mute boi is that in the original 3DS game in Japan where they were all chibi and stuff, everyone, including him, were so much more expressive.
Im in act 3 trying to beat (you know who) but he is like lvl 70 and im 50. Any tips on what to do to level up? Am i missing something to do? Any questlines?

You must have played the ps4 version the switch version fixes a lot and adds a lot, including letting you change your outfit without having to equip the armor, you just have to have owned it at one point in the game
