I like her voice too but I think the reason people hate on her when she was in nightwish is that going from Tarja to her was a very big change and people could not do it. I felt she did her best on the song that really did not fit her. I think she has got better and better and in her new band the style fits her voice so much better.

Anette has done a great job on the 1 CD that I have, and that is the CD that has "Bye Bye beautiful" on it. I have been drinking some vodka, so, I can NOT remember which CD that Annette had been the singer on. IT had been Tarja, Annette, and then Floor as far as the female vocalist lineup. BUT, I, am REALLY upset now because Marco has chosen to leave the band and his music career. He must have needed a break from the music biz though, BUT, he will be VERY missed.

I can imagine that those who liked Turunen didn't like Olzon. I also don't really know how Turunen or Olzon did live. As for me, I never got into Nightwish during the Turunen area. Not my cup of tea. Dark Passion Play and Imaginaerum were the first Nightwish albums that really caught my attention and that I listened to repeatedly. And I like Olzon's voice on those albums. I haven't listened yet to the more recent Nightwish albums with Floor Jansen. Don't see a reason to hate on any of these singers. Except people's apparent need to hate on SOMETHING or SOMEONE.
Story Time by Anette and By Floor are two very different experiences, Anette did a great job in the official video, creepy and beautiful at the same time in a Studio, and Floor nail this song putting the energy way higher. And she did it in Live Shows. Anette is a great singer, but to another style of Band, I wish her the best.
Damn! It seems like she sounds better live and it seems like no studio recording was able to fully capture her voice. She sings really loud (doesn't seem like that on albums since she sounds so sweet) and there's also some really cool deep frequencies in her voice. She was born for this.
I feel sorry for her in a sense. She sings way better when she isn't in Nightwish. Those songs really didn't fit her, the older material. She is a good singer, but no one can sing any style.

All the best for her and Dark Element, they sound great! But I don't understand why she plays Nightwish song with other bands. She said in an interview that Tuomas once said that it disrupt him (Tuomas) that Tarja is singing Nightwish songs live with her (Tarja's band). And that she wouldn't want to do that 'cause that wouldn't be right. Because they all are Tuomas's songs. So she want to respect that.

A lot of people, especially Nightwish fans, are listening to The Dark Element and loving it, even those who dominantly prefer Floor. Anette also recently released a work with Russell Allen too. If you listen to The Dark Element you can see she's able to utilize her voice completely and isn't being forced to do a specific style that Tuomas wanted, she's using her low vocals more often and really it stands out. There's some live videos of the dark element performing here and there as well.

Changing the melody to meet her range is not necessarily a bad thing. I don't like what she did with Dark Chest of Wonders, but sometimes it's both fitting with her capacities and nice to hear, her version of The Siren for example.
