    Just recently found you on UA-cam. Love your tutorials and have subscribed. I got a hydro batt for my birthday and got another one for Christmas. YAY! I love them too. Wonder if using the ribs on them cause dents or chips in them? Hope you are recovering well and not too bored while going through it. I'm from Canada and experiencing rainy dark days so am enjoying the light in your studio. Our winter has been very unusual this year. Love your view! Take care of you and don't rush even if bored. It ultimately takes longer to heal. Just think of all the time you have to plan new projects. I look forward to your next video. Take care!

    • @hobblecreekpottery
      @hobblecreekpottery  Рік тому +1

      Being from Alaska, Canadians are some if my favorite people! I've used the hydro bats in my studio for two years now, 10 students use them too, and haven't had any problems with ribs denting them. Whatever they're made of is stronger than plaster. Yes, I love my view and studio. I've was recently told by my doctor that I have to take time to heal and that this is my 3rd surgery in 9 months, and it'll take longer and to be patient. Patience is something I've always struggled at. So I'm having a "dark" winter too. 😀

    I do have a question concerning the butter containers. I have been looking on line for dimension suggestions. Mainly for where the butter is put. I hand build and know how I plan to assemble it but stumped on size.

    • @hobblecreekpottery
      @hobblecreekpottery  Рік тому +2

      Great idea to hand-build a butter crock. For measurements, you need a cylinder that will hold at least a stick of butter and be smaller than the container it'll sit in. Maybe try building the containers in paper to get the dimensions.

    I just watched your chip and dip demonstration for may be the third or fourth time. So appreciate your demos. I am curious the reason why we let it sit out for three or four days to dry covered in plastic. Is that to minimize the possibility of cracks?

    • @hobblecreekpottery
      @hobblecreekpottery  Рік тому

      Thank you so much! Thrilled you're enjoying the videos. I do let them slowly dry under plastic to help minimize cracking. In winter, I leave them covered 3 or 4 days. I'm summer I will leave them coveted longer as we are so dry here in Utah, that they dry too fast and risk cracking. I hope that helps and good luck!

    • @hobblecreekpottery

    • @hobblecreekpottery
      @hobblecreekpottery  Рік тому +1

      I do get the coil wet, but it's because I completely smooth the coil into the clay. With a handle, it's like stuck on there, but if you completely blend both ends of a handle, you don't need slip either.
