how to create a HYDROPHOBIC self cleaning toilet!!!

  • I hate cleaning the toilet! I had an idea what if I sprayed that never wet stuff from rust oleum onto the toilet. If nothing sticks to this hydrophobic surface would it be easier to clean the toilet. I couldn’t wait to try this. I found never wet at Ollies for a dollar, so there’s really nothing to lose except a dollar. So I drained all the water out of the toilet make sure that it was totally dry by using a hair dryer, then put part one and then park to just like the directions say. Wow! Wow! You have to see the video to see how a toilet looks before and after hydrophobic compounds are put on the surface.

I’ve used Never Wet coatings on several surfaces, and it doesn’t last long. Toilet manufacturers should be able to come up with a way of building their products with a permanent super hydrophobic surface.
I saw a video of someone cleaning and drying his toilet bowl, and then applying a Turtle Wax ceramic coating spray, which kept the toilet clean for a year.

@@livefree6878 hank you for responding. It kinda answers my question. But since feces is pretty oily, with solids, that i thought might not be "aqueous" (?) enough to be repelled by the hydrophobic finish, but would instead (due to its oily-ness) snudge between the tiny bumps that make the surface hydrophobic. But if you experienced no build-up after waste made contact with the dry surface. I'm imagining a Thomas' English Muffins commercial... butter... nooks and crannies... I hink the hydrophobic property lent to the surface is from the dimensions of the bumps the spray creates on the surface... like those water-shedding tropical plants. Thanks!

@@livefree6878 Mine didn't even make it 24 hours before it started peeling off! I think constant contact with water is a problem for this stuff. It's like a rubber coating, or at least it was in mine when I had to peel it off the next day because it started coming off at the bottom of the bowl. Looked like a cool idea, but maybe it can't handle being submerged in water, or maybe it needs to cure longer.

Hmmm. Scuff the bowl first with a Brillo pad to give the paint something to stick onto. Epoxy would last longer and some antiperspirant spray onto the wet surface of the epoxied bowl would act as your cheap hydrophobic material or even that same top coat you just used onto that epoxy. Otherwise, lol, some automotive grade ceramic paint coating. Should atleast get some years of life out of it. You said wax lasted longer so the hybrid ceramic spray wax should do even better. I’d say atleast 2 weeks to a month depending on brand. You, sir, are a true innovator trying to reinvent the wheel and everyone should be grateful for it bc someone will see this and perfect it. They’ll probably be the next billionaire lol.
