I did the same with my mark II trigger (identical trigger as the 93R17). I couldn't get any ink pen spring to work but midway sells a spring set that has a large variety of sizes that worked perfectly
I wasn't finding anything for the 93R17 online. The model is pretty limited in options, since Savage only builds a limited number of these. Part 2 is tomorrow, and I (sort of) solved the problem. I had assumed that going from a 2-7×32 to a 3-9×40 I wouldn't have a length problem, so I'd planned on a quick changeover. 🤪 You know what they say about best laid plans? 😂🤣 I still need to find the rings I went with in medium height, but I can shoot it, anyway.
EGW doesn't show anything for the 93R17 model so any ideas on which model to order for that works ? Their website does say for all models with the 1-5/8 ejection port so I guess that's the one ?
@@ArkansasBadBoy If you called them they should be able to help you. I was told by Savage to order rails for both my rifles from EGW. They had them. They are very specific based on the size of the ejection port, I suspect the rail for .22 mag should work on the .17 but can't say for sure.
i have the same rifle but mine is ss and bull barrel floated , i have a 3x9x40 Sweet seventeen scope on mine also but a buddy and myself used an ink pen spring to lighten the trigger we cut to short the first time as it would fire when you closed the bolt but we regrouped and got it right and my trigger pull now is a sweet 2 1/2 pounds on the scale , great rifle and video , i call it my do all rifle
Mornin Brother!🌄 That scope should be real nice on that .17 once you get the rings and bases figured out. I wonder if M-Carbo makes a trigger spring kit for that gun?
I looked on M-carbo's website and only saw springs for the 10/110 and Axis. I'll be getting springs for the Axis (and T/C) this winter. The 2-7×32 was a good scope, but the objective lens was difficult to find the eye box. Part 2 tomorrow 👍🇺🇸
my buddy got his trigger set at one pound on his 17 hmr it's a Ruger i forget what model but it's slick it'll sneak up on you shooting squerreles at 100 yrsd after deer season he misfires quiet often forgetting that one pound pull but he had it done by a gun smith
Rust prevention tip.... when you've got barreled action off stock spray/wipe down with brake cleaner then lightly coat with boiled linseed oil, hang to dry, coat again if wanted, repeat drying, then cover with paste wax/buff, then apply light coat of oil, assemble.

A good dummy round for dry firing is a plastic #4 drywall anchor (yellow in color). Extractor/ejector will function on it to.....
i'm getting a dime size group at 100 yards with mine and the Hornady 17 HMR VMAX that's with no wind blowing
nice new scope Jerry !!! enjoy the rest of the day .
I'm hoping to get it out to the range before Christmas, and get it zeroed. 👍🇺🇸
heck yesss !!!
SAVAGE recommends something like 15 inch pounds torque on stock/action screws on their synthetic stocks.
I use one piece "Evolution Gun Works" picatinny rails on my savage rimfires along with any standard type rings I need based on height. Mike.

Once my HM2 arrives in two days I'll have the "TRILLOGY" of .17 rimfires (HM2/HMR/WSM), all Savages.
EGW is my "go-to" rail also.

ATF is also a good rust preventative (ever seen a rusty transmission?).
You'll get get it worked out .
Part 2 is tomorrow. It gets worked out. 😉
Good luck with that scope Jerry. Take that baby out for a walk more often.
In part 2 (tomorrow) I get the problem (mostly) solved. I wish I could have found the medium height rings, but for now these will work. 👍🇺🇸

RIFLE BASIX makes a trigger/sear kit.
Huge improvement.
👍👍
Hopefully I'll get this out to the range before too long, and see how this work

Morning brother
I like the new logo! 👍🇺🇸
"Offset" Weaver rings will get you there.

I use brake cleaner to degrease.....
