Hotchkiss asks Nancy the questions she does in order to ensure she can trust Nancy and thus come out of her room to talk to her. It has nothing to do with her not knowing this stuff on French History. You should also give points for how cheesey some of the dialogue is, even if I do love it: "I Could Write A Poem Or Two About Choc-o-late Milk!", "Couscous, yeeeessssssss Couscous.", etc.
As far as Nancy getting the French pronunciations right, but not knowing what they mean, remember Danger By Design? In the Case File, she says that she should be able to get by having taken a few years of French in high school. How does she not know the translations here, but she "should be able to get by" much later, assuming the time passage?

She would also have to get it out of the castle without anyone stopping her and there are several people in the castle who would stop her if they could. Then even if she did somehow smuggle it out without being stopped or noticed there's no guarantee that she'd be able to find a buyer before she got caught by the authorities. -A lot of people might disagree with me on this one, but I think Hotchkiss is a jerk. She doesn't even try to remember anyone's name, she orders 50 chicken drumsticks in the middle of a snowstorm when they can't get more food, and she ignores Nancy most of the times Nancy knocks on her door. She's a funny character but she's not a very nice person.
Initially, in Dexter's notepad we can see "Change the code in the library", after some time, this note will be crossed out, but the code will not change

A weird fact I randomly learned while in Czech Republic, where they apparently like to emphasize the anchovy taste of Caesar dressing more than most American recipes do.
Lisa sounds like Peppermint Patty. I keep expecting her to call Nancy "Chuck". One problem not mentioned is that even if you retract the staircase leading to the tower to keep the culprit from following you up, she manages to follow you up anyway.
True but the puzzle to pull the stairs out is at the bottom and she has some problem solving abilities if she could figure out how to get into the tunnels through the elevator.

I just thought of four more sins: 1. In the elevator shaft at night you could hear sawing, which sounds like Jacques is using a circular saw or angle grinder. When you find him he is using a hacksaw, which would not make the mechanical saw noises that Nancy heard in the elevator shaft. 2. Where did Jacques put his circular saw since it is not visible when you meet him and it is too large for him to fit it in his pocket. 3. All Jacques has cut through is one bar in however many nights he has been sawing away. It sounds like he has been using a circular saw or angle grinder some of the time, which would make a lot more of a mess and would cut through the bars a lot quicker than a hacksaw. He should have at least cut through quite a few bars in this time. He makes wooden boxes so he knows how to use a saw, I should hope🤣 4. Did Ezra Wickford know he was going to die or never return to his study to leave on his desk the candle with the secret key inside the wick? Or did he always leave it out and rarely used it? He would have always had to have used a different candle while in his study than. Ezra would have had to make the candle by making the wax, placing the key in, then making more wax on top of the key. Therefore, he must have rarely used this candle besides if he knew he was going to die or knew he would never return to the room.
Everything wrong with this video 😂: There is red dirt in the dungeon leading to the tower. You can click on it and look at it. You CAN hear Jacques sawing at night when you’re inside the elevator shaft and also when you’re in the round room with Marie’s portrait. Jacques’ great grandfather kept the “worthless” medallion… yeah okay.. just a worthless emerald that belonged to Marie Antoinettes infamous tiara! There is a whole other plate of eaten drumsticks in hotchkiss’ room. Still not 50, but enough to where you get the point! “The tower Is spotlessly clean even though it hasn’t been entered in decades” not even close! Dexter knows how to get into the tower he tells Nancy about how when he figured it out his dad was proud of him, even gives Nancy tips on how to solve the puzzles. He goes in there to clean it. It was even on his to do list behind his desk to change the lightbulbs in the tower. He is probably the one who cleans it, also why the tower is bright and shiny at all hours of the day… there are lights inside! Nancy begins to complain about the cold immediately after going outside when I played. Not just once she realizes the door was locked. You guys know that Caesar dressing is literally made of anchovies right? That’s why it’s called “anchovy heaven” lol The journal hasn’t been exposed to air or dust in hundreds of years. Hence why the pages aren’t yellow
These type of videos are great! Haven't played this game in a while to remember all of these-- you make some great points. Key not being hot, not being able to see all of Hotchkiss for a while, her checking the answers we were supposed to find for her...my gosh! How did I not think of some of these before.
I wondered how Dexter was able to access the library without his key when you see him in the vent (that is, if you take his key before entering the library through the vent for the first time).

I so like these videos. Hey Arglefumph here's some sins I noticed in The Final Scene: 1. Joseph miracously drags Maya through the secret passage into the basement and into the Magician's Room then runs back up into the Projector Room without performing the crate puzzle(otherwise that would be imposible). 2. J. J. Thomas made an entire game just to hide one gear. 3. Why did J. J. design the upper floor decorations with gears to open that locked box? 4. Also, conviently one of them fell off or Nancy would be doomed. 5. If Nancy's trying to save the theatre, why did she leave evidence in a safe no one knows about in the basement that proves the theatre may not belong 100% to Brady. Nancy needs to get her priorities straight. 6. Why did Joseph not leave that evidence in the Magician's Room? 7. How and why did he steal the theater plans? I mean it the police would have no reason to search the building in the 1st place thanks to standard procedure and it's not like Nancy would waste an hour to run over and look them over. 8. Simione is a jerk(1st meeting). 9. Simione implants false evidence thereby hindering our progress. 10. That press confrence makes it like Simione is desperate for Brady to have more fame. 11. Why doesn't Brady just have Nick arrested for trespassing? If he hates him so much and the law believes he owns the theatre, there is no excuse not to stop Had It from interfering. 12. The game tries tricking us into thinking the key puzzle in the safe is random. It's always the third key from the left on the top row. 13. Again Nancy priorities, why would anyone leave decisive evidence behind in the safe that proves Nicholas owns half of the theatre? 14. The game likes trolling us with useless objects to try freeing Maya instead of saving the day. 15. Also, legally Louisa's signature is requried to make the theatre partially hers and she's dead so Nick isn't half owner that goes to Eustacia, the crazy cat woman. 16. The game designers assumes no one would realize they need to use the flash paper right away and so have a long extra conversation trying to convince the crazy man to let us by. 17. Also, the safe puzzle would be guess and check for people who didn't play the Find the Ace of Spades game. 18. Game contains a dangerous randomly falling object cliche don't worry they'll use it like six more times after this. 19. How convient was it that Nancy broke the projector bulb and the focus gear revealing evidence that Joseph kidnapped Maya. 20. Isn't funny how Nancy finds evidence of each suspect conviently left behind while they are gone? 21. Secret passage cliche don't worry there's 3 more left to find(1st one in Brady's room) 22. Eww, lucky for Nancy Joseph doesn't clean up too good so she gets that gum and quarter 23. The key making puzzle 24. Too bad Nancy can't make a second key for Ned or Frank(for those shippers). 25. Why didn't Maya just write her article before talking to Brady? You know it's true so why not help save an old theatre? 26. Why does Brady lie that he'll return that notebook? If his idea fails, Brady wouldn't want his stage mucked up. 27. That drawing Brady makes is hilarious. 28. If Brady hates Simone so much, why not just fire her? 29. Uh Joseph, you do realize they are about to wreck the theatre right now so how about helping save you and Maya and ourselves from being breakfast food. 30. Joseph must be the flash if he mananged to grab Maya only a couple of minutes after we just saw her, lock the gate, and then reach the trap door chair after hiding Maya again. 31. Suspects appear and disappear at the most convient times so Nancy can snoop to her heart's content cliche. Hope that helps, sorry about the scattered sins.
These are pretty good but actually, the contract says that two of the three people mentioned in the contract have to sign the contract for it to be valid. Both Houdini and Thompson signed it although Thompson being the jerk that he was tried to hide it. But yes, I agree with everything else, especially the paper she found in the first safe. Although... it could be possible there were other secret passageways in the theatre but it is just as likely that HerInteractive had forgotten about making some things believable.

I know of another sin: Ezra Wickford is an irresponsible parent. Ezra Wickford is a jerk🤣 Ezra allows Dexter as a kid to climb around in ventilation ducts and climb ladders in dangerous elevator shafts. Dexter found the secret door before when he was a kid, which means the elevator is in the way of the door back in the day. Dexter had to call the elevator to the first floor, go through the library ventilation duct and climb down the ladder in the "dangerous" elevator shaft, to find the secret door. Dexter even told Nancy it's dangerous in there, talking from Nancy's experience and possibly his own. It would than be even more dangerous for kids.
Thinking about how long it takes for a candle to burn, how long did Nancy wait for this key to appear? How did she know to wait for the candle to burn down so far?
That one made perfect sense to me. Nancy doesn't freeze until she notices she's locked out for the same reason that Wile E Coyote doesn't fall until he realizes he's suspended in thin air.

I just thought of four more sins:
1. In the elevator shaft at night you could hear sawing, which sounds like Jacques is using a circular saw or angle grinder. When you find him he is using a hacksaw, which would not make the mechanical saw noises that Nancy heard in the elevator shaft.
2. Where did Jacques put his circular saw since it is not visible when you meet him and it is too large for him to fit it in his pocket.
3. All Jacques has cut through is one bar in however many nights he has been sawing away. It sounds like he has been using a circular saw or angle grinder some of the time, which would make a lot more of a mess and would cut through the bars a lot quicker than a hacksaw. He should have at least cut through quite a few bars in this time. He makes wooden boxes so he knows how to use a saw, I should hope🤣
4. Did Ezra Wickford know he was going to die or never return to his study to leave on his desk the candle with the secret key inside the wick? Or did he always leave it out and rarely used it? He would have always had to have used a different candle while in his study than. Ezra would have had to make the candle by making the wax, placing the key in, then making more wax on top of the key. Therefore, he must have rarely used this candle besides if he knew he was going to die or knew he would never return to the room.

You CAN hear Jacques sawing at night when you’re inside the elevator shaft and also when you’re in the round room with Marie’s portrait.
Jacques’ great grandfather kept the “worthless” medallion… yeah okay.. just a worthless emerald that belonged to Marie Antoinettes infamous tiara!
There is a whole other plate of eaten drumsticks in hotchkiss’ room. Still not 50, but enough to where you get the point!
“The tower Is spotlessly clean even though it hasn’t been entered in decades” not even close! Dexter knows how to get into the tower he tells Nancy about how when he figured it out his dad was proud of him, even gives Nancy tips on how to solve the puzzles. He goes in there to clean it. It was even on his to do list behind his desk to change the lightbulbs in the tower. He is probably the one who cleans it, also why the tower is bright and shiny at all hours of the day… there are lights inside!
Nancy begins to complain about the cold immediately after going outside when I played. Not just once she realizes the door was locked.

The journal hasn’t been exposed to air or dust in hundreds of years. Hence why the pages aren’t yellow
These type of videos are great! Haven't played this game in a while to remember all of these-- you make some great points. Key not being hot, not being able to see all of Hotchkiss for a while, her checking the answers we were supposed to find for her...my gosh! How did I not think of some of these before.

I wondered how Dexter was able to access the library without his key when you see him in the vent (that is, if you take his key before entering the library through the vent for the first time).
The key Nancy has may be a backup key. He may have one on a key ring or something 🤷♀️

I so like these videos. Hey Arglefumph here's some sins I noticed in The Final Scene:
1. Joseph miracously drags Maya through the secret passage into the basement and into the Magician's Room then runs back up into the Projector Room without performing the crate puzzle(otherwise that would be imposible).
2. J. J. Thomas made an entire game just to hide one gear.
3. Why did J. J. design the upper floor decorations with gears to open that locked box? 4. Also, conviently one of them fell off or Nancy would be doomed.
5. If Nancy's trying to save the theatre, why did she leave evidence in a safe no one knows about in the basement that proves the theatre may not belong 100% to Brady. Nancy needs to get her priorities straight.
6. Why did Joseph not leave that evidence in the Magician's Room?
7. How and why did he steal the theater plans? I mean it the police would have no reason to search the building in the 1st place thanks to standard procedure and it's not like Nancy would waste an hour to run over and look them over.
8. Simione is a jerk(1st meeting).
9. Simione implants false evidence thereby hindering our progress.
10. That press confrence makes it like Simione is desperate for Brady to have more fame.
11. Why doesn't Brady just have Nick arrested for trespassing? If he hates him so much and the law believes he owns the theatre, there is no excuse not to stop Had It from interfering.
12. The game tries tricking us into thinking the key puzzle in the safe is random. It's always the third key from the left on the top row.
13. Again Nancy priorities, why would anyone leave decisive evidence behind in the safe that proves Nicholas owns half of the theatre?
14. The game likes trolling us with useless objects to try freeing Maya instead of saving the day.
15. Also, legally Louisa's signature is requried to make the theatre partially hers and she's dead so Nick isn't half owner that goes to Eustacia, the crazy cat woman.
16. The game designers assumes no one would realize they need to use the flash paper right away and so have a long extra conversation trying to convince the crazy man to let us by.
17. Also, the safe puzzle would be guess and check for people who didn't play the Find the Ace of Spades game.
18. Game contains a dangerous randomly falling object cliche don't worry they'll use it like six more times after this.
19. How convient was it that Nancy broke the projector bulb and the focus gear revealing evidence that Joseph kidnapped Maya.
20. Isn't funny how Nancy finds evidence of each suspect conviently left behind while they are gone?
21. Secret passage cliche don't worry there's 3 more left to find(1st one in Brady's room)
22. Eww, lucky for Nancy Joseph doesn't clean up too good so she gets that gum and quarter
23. The key making puzzle
24. Too bad Nancy can't make a second key for Ned or Frank(for those shippers).
25. Why didn't Maya just write her article before talking to Brady? You know it's true so why not help save an old theatre?
26. Why does Brady lie that he'll return that notebook? If his idea fails, Brady wouldn't want his stage mucked up.
27. That drawing Brady makes is hilarious.
28. If Brady hates Simone so much, why not just fire her?
29. Uh Joseph, you do realize they are about to wreck the theatre right now so how about helping save you and Maya and ourselves from being breakfast food.
30. Joseph must be the flash if he mananged to grab Maya only a couple of minutes after we just saw her, lock the gate, and then reach the trap door chair after hiding Maya again.
31. Suspects appear and disappear at the most convient times so Nancy can snoop to her heart's content cliche.

These are pretty good but actually, the contract says that two of the three people mentioned in the contract have to sign the contract for it to be valid. Both Houdini and Thompson signed it although Thompson being the jerk that he was tried to hide it. But yes, I agree with everything else, especially the paper she found in the first safe. Although... it could be possible there were other secret passageways in the theatre but it is just as likely that HerInteractive had forgotten about making some things believable.
Corrine Thrasher Then in that case, Thompson could have just destroyed but then we wouldn't have this happy ending. And yes there might have been more passageways but then that would beg the question why as far as I remember they never showed up on the blueprints.

Ezra allows Dexter as a kid to climb around in ventilation ducts and climb ladders in dangerous elevator shafts.
Dexter found the secret door before when he was a kid, which means the elevator is in the way of the door back in the day. Dexter had to call the elevator to the first floor, go through the library ventilation duct and climb down the ladder in the "dangerous" elevator shaft, to find the secret door. Dexter even told Nancy it's dangerous in there, talking from Nancy's experience and possibly his own. It would than be even more dangerous for kids.
