I did not appreciate the voice acting and writing enough when I played this as a kid. When Odysseus is describing Athena sending him a dream about his city in ruin and Arkantos just waves his hand, “I know the dream.” Solid stuff.

Always thought Hinduism would be the best one of the last remaining polytheistic religions, vast pantheon and the most intricate architecture. Also their pantheon style basically fits in well with aom's mechanics -3 major gods to choose from, with 3 minor gods for each age. Hindu's believe in 3 major gods (and one school where they believe in all major gods) of Rama, Vishnu and Shiva, and plenty to choose from there -Hanuman would make a good counterpart for Arkantos in India -Naga, Dvarapalas, Asuras, demons etc. a wealth of myth units Aztecs come a close second though I reckon

Never thought about it before, but I think it would be work pretty well as a Netflix series if they do it right. Fix dialogue, at *A LOT* of interactions in-between quests and this could potentially be a great animated (or live action) Netflix series.

It is a lot harder to make a living as an artist, writer, or any content creator than people think. Because unfortunately people are more than happy to look at your art or read your stories if its on the internet for free, but put some dollar signs on it then people are quick to change their tunes. At the end of the day we end up looking greedy when all we are doing is asking for money so we can support ourselves and what we are passionate about.

this game is a year older than me, my dad used to play mmorpg and rts games and this was one of the games i used to play with him, i wasnt even old enough to go to school back then, i didnt knew english, nor read - even in my native language - so everytime i wanted to play i used to call my dad and, now, watching the entire storyline, living back the memories i thought i forgot, it hits diffrent, thank you for uploading this

Some of the things that made age of mythology interesting for me was how they managed to twist and cause confusion to the characters and yourself as you play the game and campaign. You wonder why Posiden's creatures kept helping the enemy, then also it was all a plot and scheme that Posiden wanted to bring Kronos out so that Posidens sons the cyclops would return to power? Idk... I forgot its been awhile since I've played this game
This game did the ending so well. They dont cut to the cinematic once we have uber arkantos. Instead, they let the players decide how to unleash him upon the enemies. I had so much fun toying around with Arkantos Uber.
Probably one of the only rts games with a really good story. Also 14:37 Who'd knew this cutscene actually contained foreshadowing since Arkantos doesn't have Poseidons favor.

It aged way better than Age of Empires 2. Also, why are you comparing this game to today's standards? This game was a graphical achievement back in its times. That's like saying Pong didnt age well graphically. There is no point of comparison.

The BANG! Engine is really something, I think both AOM and 3 have aged rather well. I would love a DE version of AOM simply for the god powers and myth units. What they did with the BANG Engine for the DE version of 3 was real good in my opinion. I would also love to see the Havoc integration they added for 3 incorporated into a potential DE version of Myth as well as the upgraded lighting engine.
This was one of the first RTS games with 3D graphics and it was a major accomplishment for the time. Of course it didn't age well. We need a Definitive Edition, Relic has kind of alluded to it already.
Even the beginning of the plot is rather depressing, they thought gods were in favour or against any thing they were doing back then, mythology sucks but it just reflect the humans poor state
