  • A full cover / recreation of Chariots Of Fire by Vangelis.
Everything was worked out by ear and produced in Cubase 13 Pro.
I've included some details of the instruments I used for this in the video itself, but in summary it includes the following:-
    • Roland FP60 digital piano
    • Native Instruments Grandeur & The Gentleman
    • Arturia CS-80V
    • ReFX Nexus
    • Steinberg Retrologue 2
    • EastWest Hollywood Orchestra & String Machine

Wonderful ... from which Nexus expansion did you take the strings ? And from which presets did you create the sequence line from the start ?
I'm really impressed by your work ...

@@kinishaothanks 👍. the synth strings were the Sound of the 80s expansion, blended with East West string machine.
If you're asking about the bouncing bass line at the start, it's not a preset. I made it in Retrologue 2.

WHAT A WONDERFUL, JULIAN :O I have to say it's one of the most beautiful you've ever recreated!!! Most importantly, the soul and passion behind those who created them shines through. I will never get tired of saying it... there is no point in making sounds well if you don't put your soul and the human touch into every note!! A myth recreated with elegance and accuracy from start to finish!!! A SUPERB work, my dear friend :) :) :)

Thank you for the kind words Kos. You are so right.
And it's especially true for any of Vangelis' music.
Its really great when a fellow musician like you notices those intricacies that make it soulful.
      Thank you. 🙏

Did you use a string synth like ARP solina emulation for the chord in the background ? I can probably replicate that using only Arturia V collection, for the timpani and some pseudo acoustic sound i have some very good result with modeling synth like Objekt or Parsec in Reason studio, i use East West sample long time ago but it's to much waist of space since a lot of modeling VST exist that can also work with wind controler . Nice Job for the cover.

@@juliancroot ok so a Freeman or Solina string machine can be use, i discover the power of those Lush sound, on many of my favorite David Bowie or even The buggles, Cheap Trick , Sparks or Even and many New wave band from post 70's until 80's era it was realy something special that was in the background of many famous pop and Rock n Roll sound, like the Mellotron or the Chamberlain it make (That ) kind of Epic and cinematic ambiance music often need , i try a lot of wierd thing on Keyboard in my band (Silence of Paisley) sometimes it's hard to convince the guys that play with me that we need a bit of exotic stuff like that, something the bass and guitar can't add to our songs ...

@@juliancroot i know but sometimes i need a sound that make a background cushion , without a good lead tone from guitar or synth like minimoog or CS 80 plus organ or piano , it could be useless i have the G force collection that sample almost every string machine and also Mellotron and Chamberlain, my Nord stage keyboard also have that as a patch directly downloadable for free in the Nord Clavia homepage, behind a piano or harpsychord and marimba it made a good combine layers of sound that can be usable...

That's pretty much how the 'old boys' had to do it back ih in the day so you're just been authentic 😁.
I am working on something, but as usual I have no idea if it will get finished.
There's usually a point at which I know I'm gonna make it to the end, but I'm not there yet!
I'm also thinking of how to attract a broader audience without selling my soul... Might experiment with a different sort of video next.

    • @ge0music307

@@juliancroot By selling your soul you mean Tiktok? lol. It could be worth setting up a channel on there but I think your are limited to 60 second videos, but put links to your YT channel. I'm no expert though. There are popular channels out there that dish out shorts almost every day, but to be honest it's quantity over quality. One I follow just won a YT award for content. And it's not very good, but the short piano examples they do is always topical, i.e. when Barbie came out they did all the songs within a week. Or parts of songs. Sometimes the cover of videos catch peoples interest?
