Have you thought of using a filler primer to cover the little imperfections? Also, what gauge metal would you say that is? 20? I had terrible problems blowing holes with my welder too.
Maybe try hot glue to pull, never worked for me much but a little bit is possible. If you cant weld that light metal under the hood maybe a few rivets will suffice.
For some reason I thought about those holes ahead of the V8 emblem when in my garage tonight (weird).... not sure but that may have been location of apache emblem, maybe not, possibly its hard to get that emblem and originals were taken off truck..... Was the truck a Chieftain... I may be all wet about this
Well the X has its own playlist, but we completed that project. There are some improvements I plan to make in the future but for now we are working on the truck. We may be doing an engine rebuild and can swap in the future though!
This is Marshal’s dad. I have never liked the patina look but Marshall actually does like that look. He and his family just made a decision that the painted look would be better for this project.

The darker spray has filler in it. Worked great. The problem I had was with my new metal. It was too thin. The factory was much thicker.

Good ideas! I can do that for sure

just remember that painting it white will hide more imperfections...not that there are any of those.
I’ll see what I can convince the wife to do ;)
the darker the color, the more that will show...

@@jimf5160 I think we are going for a light blue, but we will see. Maybe a blue and white two tone.
