Damn, this video was the first and last video I will Need to see on how to do this. Absolutely spot on, exactly what I want to do. Now to just get to just get the foam and fur. Thank you for taking the time to share this.
Great video. I know this video is 6 years old, but one thing I'll say though...when you apply the lining in the foam cavity, you could also use the scrap piece cutout portion of the body and press it into the cavity area. That way you'll have all the inside lining pressed firmly into the inside cavity walls and contacting all the tight areas since using the scrap piece will have the exact shape needed to do so. That way, you also eliminate any creasing going on. Nevertheless, nice job and thanks for the instructional vid!
Very useful video. I want to customize a jumbo acoustic case for my smaller bodied resonator, and this is really helpful. It might even be easier for me as I think I only need to add a crescent shaped fill to the end of the case and the rest will fit
I used to do upholstery and we used that sort of 3M contact cement in a spray can. We had the best results when both the fabric and the item the fabric was being glue to were sprayed with a relatively thin layer. Something to consider.
Just found this. Have you ever modified an existing form fitting case to fit a slightly larger guitar? IE: I have a Gibson Futura made to the original 50’s specs which is slightly larger/different than the reissue versions that have form fitting cases. Wondering if I’d have any luck removing the fur, taking out the existing form fitting piece/pieces, modifying and putting back together? Pretty sure the fur is separate pieces so theoretically I’d have to cut some extra away. Not sure if the bottom inside is a single piece under the form fitting pieces. Any knowledge or experience there? Thanks a heap.
Gator cases are pretty easy to tear apart. My guitar was too big so I removed the storage, I'm going to reline it and put it a little higher than where they had it
Enjoyed the video, and great tip, but 2 inch thick Foamular insulation board is only available in 4' x 8' sheets at places like Lowes, which costs more than $70 where I live. That's a very expensive material to use. There's got to be a cheaper alternative.
Hi Kriss Why do not you wear fake fur on the bottom of the case and then make the tone contour styrofoam with the rest of the fur? the bottom should be more consistent in my

Nice! Growing up around lots of projects that mom and dad had has definitely made me to appreciate things like this. Things that I can do.
That guitar looks great! I didnt think this would be quite so simple but i love it!
I really like what you are doing with your channel. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and being an artist.
Glad you enjoy it!

Yeah. He probably wouldn’t have has as bad of wrinkles in the bottom part.
Great!!!
Nice. Where do you get the fur and the foam?
home depot
well done.

No, I haven't. I've only made cases for my guitar projects.
Good job! Thanks for this!

I went to 5 different local fabric stores and found nothing at all like case fur. :/
What store did you find it at?
Joann Fabrics.
@@HighlineGuitars that's where I went.... Damn.
Good video.
Pro tip: it's easier to cut the radius ends before cutting the piece off of the foam board.
Thank you, mine is slowly coming together. Patience required
Thank you boss....where did you order that case?

I would not recommend this approach if you intend to make only one case. It is much more cost-effective to make many cases.

handmill2 I think it is to make it more level when he puts the styrofoam block into the case. Or because he doesn't have any thicker styrofoam
I did it wil regular styrofoam. Works just as well
good info, but hard for me to watch, too much camera movement.
Ryan Wan I agree
Cool, you could have stretched the fabric more in the actual cavity, looked a bit too creased but I suppose there's many "could have-s" :)
I like the wrinkles.
My bad. Just mess about this.
I'm sea sick from all the camera movement.
Great info. But my ears are bleeding from your tools. You should normalize your audio levels.
i guess it's realistic😂
