Man, I really can't tell you how much I appreciated this video. I've been feeling so burnt out and uncreative lately and something here just kinda sparked it for me. Thank you.
I grew up in Marin. I spent many hours hiking and biking the ridge tops and Mt. Tam. I loved watching the fog roll over the ridge. Thanks for the memory refresh!
Great work. My favorite memory for fog: riding my motorcycle south to the Bridge with the fog rolling in looking like a giant claw curled making a tunnel. Then I had to ride through this mystical trail before being engulfed.
We’re coming to San Francisco tomorrow:-), and the tips and locations from this video will be tested. Just find your Chanel, I love the quality the passion and just the descriptive language you use to describe the bridge 🌉 and the fog its showing me, how much you love what you do. Instant subscriber here!
Fantastic video. I was out in the Marin Headlands this past weekend and had fog above me to work with. I’m inspired to go out again (and again) to get above the fog.
Fantastic. I got hooked watching the cars disappearing in the fog here 4:33 . I had to watch this sequence almost ten times to pay attention to all other subjects.
Very beautiful Michael. I should try to shoot the fog sometime. I loved the clip looking up while driving through the bridge. And the limo was funny lol.
This was a pleasant surprise! Yea, you just know your going to get a salty almond great shoot 😂 a dream place! Some dream photography. Thanks Michael 👍
@@rajeshs1978 To be honest I just look out the window most of the time. I live near baker beach, so its quite easy to see what is happening at the Headlands. I also check Golden Gate Bridge webcams.
Man these timelapses are damn spectacular! (just like all of yours :D ) I'm also a big fan of low clouds.. but with mountains around :D would love to shoot from there one day tho!
Your timelapse photography is amazing, Mike! I always enjoy your work. I've shot the Bridge from up there in the fog before and was struggling badly with Foggy Lens Syndrome (FLS). Do you find anti-fog lens cleaners to be useful for these situations? Haven't been in the fog since, so haven't had a chance to try it out.
I have a little electric lens hood heater. But I have not used it much to be honest. Usually I just cover the lens if I am not using it. Thanks so much Scott.
Gotta get up there next summer. Can't believe I have lived in the Bay Area all my life and never knew about that high point spot. Do you ever do workshops up there. I would love to learn how you make those time lapse videos. Met you briefly at Out of Oregon last year.
Having tried unsuccessfully chasing for the low fog at GG, I have renewed respect for your work. I keep looking at the webcam every other day and fog's always blocking the top of the bridge towers.
I see you’re with Toby in this one, but how often do you go out alone? I used to go out all throughout the city alone most of the time. I’ve even made that middle-of-the-night Slacker Hill hike a number of times. You always hear the stories of people being held up for their gear. Have you ever encountered that?
David Helling I am alone most of the time, but not in the city. The headlands are fine for the most part. It’s treasure islands and areas of the city that have issues.
mate this is so sick! rookie question, how do you change settings, shutter speed etc for the changing lighting conditions during the time lapse if you’re in full manual?
Hi Michael, I would like to ask you - do you also use manual ramping when shooting Holy grail timelapses? I have seen you using Av mode a lot in your videos for scenes with changing light and M mode for more stable scenes (most of the time if I am not completely mistaken). Thank you :)
Do you always do interval timer mode when shooting time lapse, do you also just use time lapse mode or does it depend on lighting ? I rock a Z7 if that matters much.
Good stuff! Thanks for sharing that... I don't leave in SFO, but I'm often there for work. It seems that the trail has a balcony at the top of the hill, but I don't see that on Google map. What am I missing?
Hey Michael I'm big fan!! I have a question, i really want get into astrophotography but i live in a tiny country called Bahrain and it is fully light polluted, is there any trick or anything i can do to deal with this problem?? I would appreciate your advice :)
Hey Hasan! Just one cent from me, hoya have a special filter to reduce light pollution it will not reduce all but will decrease for maybe 10-30 %. Why you can't get your can and drive away from the cities? hoyafilterusa.com/products/hoya-intensifier
Best to drive away from the light pollution into the desert. Not quite sure the logistics of crossing borders over there or the safety of being out in the desert in that region. You would have to do a bit of research.
Great video! Any chance this was from November 10, 2019? I think I may have been there as well, and that might be my Nissan parked next to your car in the Hawk Hill parking lot!
I am addicted to photography..........Been a while since beeen out.............. Getting the side affects now...........I neeeed that shoot NOW...... Need a new perspective...........The old one does not cut it anymore........
Hello i am from India and love your video you know why your video making deciplane is superior and i sub last 2 years so bro keep doing well and wait in your next video see too
You can't really. You can get to know where it is heavier, and where the general height will be by spending a lot of time around one location. But it's never anywhere near 100% predictable
Was it over 80 the previous day? Good chance of fog that day. Is it the 4th of July or New years? Excellent chance of fog to let you go out and hear the fireworks. In summer the greater the amount of tourists in shorts/tshirts the more likely it will be a thick, cold, damp fog, almost like a drizzle that sticks to you.
Crazy good at stills, timelapses, vlogging... you're just one of the best all-around creatives on the planet.
Your timelapses are so beautiful!
They're are already too good and you find these perfect soundtracks to go with. Kudos!

The Headlands is also one of my favorite places to photograph; so many great options.
Holy crap Michael, why aren't you doing this full time...? You are a master at timelapses photography. Patience is a virtue. Great work.
Thanks so much Max, although I am full time. :)

Beautiful. The perfect area for cloud and fog lovers!

Very cool. Great rec. On the salt and vinegar almonds. I'm a big wasabi fan, but these are good as well.
I can get behind the Wasabi flavor! :)
Awesome, love your videos
Great Vlog. Nice to see another Video.
Just love the atmosphere in those shots. When are the best times of year to see the fog?
Thanks so much! Usually in the summer months.

Really glad you are enjoying it Travis, thanks so much! Keep on trying, I have had so many failed attempts up here as well!
Great video!

made some pics during the same season there, fog is really cool when its low like this :)

Wonderful! Any issues with condensation on the lenses?
Thanks, nah no issues really. I did end up covering the lens in between the motion controlled shot though.
Any reason for the black tape over the 14-24 lens cap?
We taped it up for a commercial awhile back to cover the brand logos.
